#2 FORGET NOT: THE POWER OF ONE! ONE WITH COMPASSION MAKES A DIFFERENCE.

This is part two of a two part lesson.
I do this part in two parts.
Matthew 23:11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.
I start this sermon with a metal baseball bat.
I talk about how most of my life I have used the diplomacy of a ball bat.
I often used the mentally of the ball bat in my family.
In the church I have used a smaller ball bat, but how I would like at times to forcefully swing my bat and make people be faithful and have good attitudes.
Then I pull out an old towel, well worn.
I talk about Jesus’ attitude was to wash the feet of people that had not caught his message.
At the end of the service, I will give every one there a wash cloth, they have to grow it into the towel of servant-hood.
Matthew 23:11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.
Jude 1:22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:
I. DON’T DESPISE THE LITTLE? THE SUM TOTAL OF LITTLE CAN ADD UP?
Does what you are doing seem unimportant?
A. WHY CAN WE SEE --- NO WORK OF GOD THAT YOU DO TO RESTRAIN THE ENEMY AND AVERT HIS PLAN IS LITTLE?
B. GOD’S BLESSINGS SHOULD NEVER BE SEEN AS A LITTLE THING!
The WORD OF GOD does the WORK OF GOD.
C. Nothing ever accomplished by God’s power is insignificant, but it is MIGHTY TO TEAR DOWN THE STRONG HOLDS OF THE ENEMY.
Little things can have great ETERNAL VALUE!
D. One day in the 1880’s a little lady lived in a little house. There had been little rain that summer.
This morning there was a little wind blowing.
The little lady woke up one ordinary morning, it was still dark.
So the little lady picked up her little lamp with a little oil in it.
She picked up a little match and lit with the little fire the little lamp that produced a little light in the darkness.
She walked out to her little barn and walked their little cow into it’s little stall. The little lady got a little corn and a little hay and put it in front
of her little cow.
She took her little milk bucket and started milking a little milk from the little cow. There were a bunch of little flies flying around the little cow.
So the cow used it’s little tail to SHOO off the little flies.
The cows little tail knocked over the little lamp, and a little oil ran onto the little bit of dry hay and the little flame ignited a little fire.
The little lady didn’t think too much of the little fire. She ran to get a little bucket of water and it took a little while, when she returned her whole little barn was on fire.
The barn was burning and it caught the little house on fire, and that little house caught the next little house on fire.
BEFORE LONG THE LITTLE FIRES COMBINED TO MAKE WHAT IS KNOWN AS THE GREAT FIRE OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
The great fire burned over a square mile of homes and businesses.
Many died and much property was totally destroyed.
THE GREAT FIRE WAS A COMBINATION OF MANY LITTLE THINGS COMING TOGETHER AND CREATED A NIGHTMARE IN HISTORY.
E. DON’T DESPISE LITTLE THINGS.
Zech. 4:10 For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall
rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the Lord, which run to and fro through the whole earth.
II. GOD IS LOOKING FOR A MAN.
GOD’S BLESSINGS! WHY DOES GOD POUR OUT BLESSINGS?
GOD WANTS HIS BLESSING TO SPILL OUT OVER YOU.
YOUR UMBREALLA OF BLESSINGS CAN COVER OTHERS.
A. OUR GOD HAS A PLAN ALL THROUGH HIS WORD:
GOD’S PLAN IS TO HAVE MEN AND WOMEN THAT ARE WILLING TO STAND IN THE GAP.
Ezekiel 22:30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.
B. ONE BENEFIT OF GOD IS A GAP STANDER...
God needs not vast sums of people, one person can stand in the gap.
C. ONE PERSON CAN BUILD A HEDGE THAT TURNS AWAY JUDGMENT AND GOD’S WRATH.
D. EVERY GENERATION NEEDS A GAP STANDER!
Every family needs a GAP STANDER!
E. WILL YOU EXERCISE YOUR DIVINE PRIVLEGE AND USE YOUR INFLUENCE IN A POSITIVE WAY TO BRING BLESSINGS TO OTHERS?
F. IF NOT YOU? --- THEN WHO?
IF NOT HERE? --- THEN WHERE?
IF NOT NOW? --- THEN WHEN?
G. Will we allow sin, compromise and the demand for popularity force our hearts from being WILLING TO INTERCEDE?
WILL WE BUILD A HEDGE?
WILL WE STAND IN THE GAP WHEN THE WHOLE WORLD IS COLLAPSING?
H. WILL YOU TAKE THE RISK, MOVE IN FERVENT PRAYER AND INTERCEDE FOR REVIVAL?
IF WE HAVE SOMEONE TO ARISE TO BUILD THE HEDGE...
WE CAN AVERT GOD’S WRATH AND JUDGMENT!
III. THE KING NEEDS WHAT YOU HAVE.
ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A FREE GIMMICK THAT WILL MAKE INTERCESSION EASY? HAVE WE LOST THE VALUE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS? DO WE DREAM OF A SPIRITUAL WAL-MART WITH DISCOUNTED PRICES?
God has a remedy even if the problem was self-inflicted!
A. ORNAN WAS A LITTLE ORDINARY MAN.
Ornan had 4 sons and they were working hard.
B. ORNAN HAD DISCERNMENT AND SPIRITUAL PERCEPTION.
He could see in the spirit realm.
1 Chron. 21:20 And Ornan turned back, and saw the angel; and his four sons with him hid themselves. Now Ornan was threshing wheat.
C. DAVID HAD DONE FOOLISHLY, HE WANTED TO LEAN ON THE ARM OF THE FLESH?
Joab said, we have always depended on God, let’s trust God!
David felt the need to NUMBER THE PEOPLE.
In out right rebellion David turned his nose to God and went ahead.
D. ORNAN OFFERED TO COVER ALL THE COST OF THE INTERCESSION.
1 Chron. 21:21 And as David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out of the threshingfloor, and bowed himself to David with his face to the ground. 22 Then David said to Ornan, Grant me the place of this threshingfloor,
that I may build an altar therein unto the Lord: thou shalt grant it me for the full price: that the plague may be stayed from the people.
E. DAVID REFUSED A NO COST, NO EFFORT MINISTRY.
DAVID KNEW THE POWER OF ONE --- INTERCESSION IS A MINISTRY OF ONE!
1 Chron. 21:24 And king David said to Ornan, Nay; but I will verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is thine for the Lord, nor offer burnt offerings without cost.
F. BY PRAYER THE POWER OF THE RESTRAINER WAS RELEASED.
THE REMEDY? ONE MAN STANDING IN THE GAP.
1 Chron. 21:26 And David built there an altar unto the Lord, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the Lord; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.
G. ON THIS SAME PLACE ON THE HILL, MORIAH, SOLOMON WILL BUILD GOD A GREAT TEMPLE!
GOD SENT THE ANGEL, IT WAS ENOUGH.
1 Chron. 21:27 And the Lord commanded the angel; and he put up his sword again into the sheath thereof.
H. NEVER FORGET THE POWER OF ONE.
IV. THERE IS A GREAT POWER OF INTERCESSION WITHIN
DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILIES.
A. Joseph was raised in a dysfunctional family.
There were 10 brothers to one mother, 2 brothers to another mother.
B. The father loved the one mother more than the other mother.
This family has more problems than Doctor Laura can cure in a radio call?
Genesis 37:4 And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.
C. Hatred driven problems are very serious.
Genesis 37:5 And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.
D. THEY MOCKINGLY CALL THEIR BROTHER A DREAMER, BUT NEVER FORGET WE NEED PEOPLE OF VISION IN OUR FAMILIES.
Genesis 37:19 And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh.
E. WHILE THERE HAVE BEEN MANY DARK DAYS, JOSEPH WAS ALWAYS IN THE PLACE OF GOD.
F. A FAMILY OF 70 PEOPLE HAVE DEPENDED ON ONE MAN’S RIGHTEOUSNESS.
God maintained the seed line of Jesus through a interceder named Joseph.
Genesis 50:19 And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God? 20 But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto
good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. 21 Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he
comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.
G. ALL THE WAY THE SAVIOR LEADS.
It is beautiful to see a plan come together!
V. I WILL NOT LET GO --- UNTIL GOD BLESSES US! ONE MUST HANG ON UNTIL ... AS GOD SEEKS FOR THOSE TO BUILD A HEDGE AND STAND IN THE GAP, WE MUST SEE GOD’S GREAT STORE HOUSE, NOT WHAT WE CAN DO?
A. Who are you? JACOB --- the subplanter, the cheater.
Genesis 32:26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.
B. WHO ARE YOU AFTER MEETING GOD?
He is no longer Jacob, God’s plan is going to bring a change.
C. JACOB WILL NEVER BE THE SAME, HE HAS TURNED INTO ISRAEL, A PRINCE THAT HAS POWER WITH GOD AND MEN.
VI. THE POWER OF ONE IN THE SPIRIT CAN BE VERY EFFECTIVE AND POWERFUL.
James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
A. EFFECTUAL:
A SOLDIER PREPARED FOR BATTLE.
Producing a decided, decisive, desired effect.
Ready for service, impressive, accomplishment
GIT R DONE!
B. GOOD PRAYER IS ALWAYS FERVENT PRAYER!
Do we pray and intercede because we love to ... or is prayer always a labor?
It is easier to develop a cold or lukewarm prayer life than to dig your well down to below the water table!
C. YOU DON’T HAVE TO HAVE A PRAYER GROUP, ONE CAN STAY THE ENEMY.
Jude 1:20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
D. Many know that prayer goes to God.
GOOD EFFECTUAL PRAYER COMES FROM GOD AND GOES TO GOD.
E. Good prayer is prayed in the FATHER’S WILL.
Not just in the flesh by the flesh.
REAL INTERCESSION WILL BRING ABOUT GOD’S BLESSINGS.
F. The more one prays the more they should be able to pray. Good prayer always gathers more power and force as we pray.
G. I WILL NOT LET GO --- UNTIL YOU BLESS ME!
A prayer prayed without releasing faith will always be limited. Prayer must be more
than just saying words, beating the air?
VII. WE NEED DIVINE REVELATIONS THAT RIGHTEOUSNESS CAN PUSH BACK THE POWER OF DARKNESS!
ARISE, MY LOVE, BUILD THE HEDGE AND STAND IN THE GAP.
A. WE NEED A NEW VISION, WE MUST SEE, THE POWER OF ONE.
Read the end of the Book, the RIGHTEOUS WIN.
B. There was a foot thick veil in the temple that separated the HOLY OF HOLIES, and only one man could go in once a year. Now we are invited behind the veil
daily.
C. It is in your hand to stop the plague!
D. YOU MIGHT BE THE ONLY HOPE THAT INDIVIDUAL HAS.
Jude 1:22 And of some have compassion, making a difference: 23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment
spotted by the flesh.
24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you
faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
E. THE CHURCH OPERATING WITH VISON CAN HOLD BACK THE ENEMY’S DESTRUCTIONS.
You have not failed. GOD’S EYES ARE LOOKING FOR ONE.
WON BY ONE.
F. Don’t loose your spiritual discernment, is there one in the religious nation that will
hear GOD CAN USE A FEW SMALL FISHES AND BISCUITS?
G. THE KING NEEDS WHAT YOU HAVE.
Esther 4:14 For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another
place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?
Please, don’t let the enemy beat you over the head with littleness.
