CHRISTMAS FATHER
HEBREWS 11:1
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
I would like to explain that faith is a different thing compared to risk taking. With faith, one is quite sure of what he/she hopes for while risking provides some degree of doubt and chance which is not very elaborate. Few believers practice real faith while the majority are risk takers. Many of those who take risks eventually graduate into the higher degree of practicable faith. Risk taking can at times produce disappointing results while on the contrary, faith never fails. I would like to add that this is my sole opinion based on the experience that I have so far had in my divine relationship with the Lord. There are many instances where I have seen the application of faith working effectively. Let me cite an event of which I applied faith in and God honored it.
Usually, in many Christian families, Christmas is an occasion that many families gather to celebrate the birth of Christ. And on this particular one, things seemed to be on the other side since I was in a financial dilemma. I knew of the Lord’s provision while my wife saw a bleak festival. I asked her to list down all the items she needed for the entire period. I thereafter told her that God would provide for us and that we should start inviting guests for Christmas. My wife thought that I was mad.
Then things started working out almost immediately. The women fellowship usually visited the senior pastors wife with Christmas gifts but on this occasion, the women ‘brought the shopping’ to our place. My wife couldn’t believe it. A close relative had promised to send us pork on Christmas but he later changed his mind and instead gave us money to buy meat elsewhere. I told my wife that if God had promised to bring pork, that’s what we shall have on Christmas as somebody else shall slaughter and bring it to the door of our house. Believe it dear reader, on Christmas day, a dear brother who had been invited by his relatives was given pork and brought it right to our house- (all these people never realized that we were in a fix as we had not shared to them, not even the pastor, except to the Lord). And that Christmas was one beautiful occasion as we had our invited guests the whole day for the celebration. Praise the Lord!
The Bible says that “if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain ‘move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20). A mustard seed is so small yet it generates a bigger tree. The only secret is in the planting of the seed. Unless you plant a small mustard seed, you can never have the tree. If you just store it, you shall be storing potential mustard trees in your tin. God honors His word and when you therefore use the name of Jesus accordingly, then mountains shall be moved in your life- but if you are willing to start planting those mustard seeds in your house. Do it and you will enjoy ‘gigantic’ Christmas trees bigger than the one I had.
It is one thing for a person to confess and say that he/she has faith, and again quite an issue for that person to manifest the works of that faith.
