Summary: Jesus cares so much about you than ever really know

Mark 4:35-41

I Peter:5:7

Topic: How much does Jesus really C.A.R.E.S. about you?

In these passage of scriptures in Mark 4:35-41, we read about how Jesus Christ had commanded his disciples to get into a ship to sail across the sea of Galilee to travel to another land, which was Gadarenes, to continue on with his ministry of preaching, teaching, and performing miracles. But while they were sailing across the sea of Galilee, a fierce sea storm arose that dangerously rocked the ship and filled the ship with water. And while the disciples were trying to navigate the ship through the dangerous sea storm, the scripture says that Jesus was fast asleep through it all. And when the disciples saw that Jesus fast asleep during the midst of the dangerous sea storm, the disciples awoke Jesus up from his sleep, and asked this profound question, “Master, carest thou not that we perish?” Or as the New International Version states, “Do you not care that we are perishing?” And upon hearing their question and plea, the scripture says that Jesus arose, rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, “Peace, Be still.” And immediately, the wind, and sea storm ceased from troubling, and there was a great calm on the sea of Galilee.

But noticed the disciples asked Jesus this question while He was asleep in the midst of a sea storm, “Do you not care that we are perishing? Whether you know it or not, that is a question that a lot of people are asking today: Does not Jesus care that we are perishing? People in today times are asking this same question that the disciples asked Jesus because we have a lot of people today who are going through a lot of drama in their lives today. We have a lot of people whose lives have been messed up because of some bad decision were made on their part or on somebody else’s part. There are a lot of homes and marriages that have been wrecked because of infidelity, domestic abuse, drug abuse, or alcohol abuse. There are a lot children and teenagers that have been gone astray by being willfully disobedient to their parents, not doing well in school, getting suspended for fighting, or shooting or killing someone at school, or even their parents. People are losing their homes to foreclosures because they can no longer pay their mortgages, or their bills. People are being laid off from their jobs. People are losing their health to dreadful diseases and sickness. It is sad, but true, we have churches being split, and torn apart. We live in a society that has this dog eat dog mentality, where we have people who will rob, steal, or kill you just to get ahead in life. And because we are living in such troubled times in our lives, somebody is always asking this question, “Does not Jesus care that we are perishing?”

“Does not Jesus care that we are perishing?”

Well the answer to that question is a resounding YES!!!! I Peter 5:7 says, “Casting all your cares upon him , for He cares for you.” Yes, from this scriptures in I Peter 5:7 we learn that Jesus cares for us.

No matter what you are going through;

No matter what your problem may be;

No matter how bad your situation may look like;

Just know and be assured that Jesus cares about you! Not only does Jesus cares about you, but He cares enough about you that he wants to do something about your problems, about your bad situation. He cares enough about you to heal your broken marriages, to heal your broken relationship with your children, wife, husband, or friendship, to fix your money problems, to fix your job problems, to fix your school problems. Yes, Jesus cares so much about you that He is willing to do whatever you need Him to do for you because Jesus really cares about you.

I Peter 5:7 says, Casing all your care upon him(Your worries, your burdens, your problems, your bad circumstances or situations); for he cares for you.”

Notice the word "Casting". The word casting means "to throw upon." The word carries the idea of trusting someone or something to handle what you were throwing at them. And it is a blessing to know we can trust God to handle anything we throw at Him; for there is nothing in our lives that God cannot handle. If you got money problems, throw it at God, because He can handle it. If you got marriage problems, throw it at God because He can handle it. If you got health problems, throw it at God because God can handle it. If you got school problems, throw it at God because He can handle it. Jeremiah 34:17 says, that there is nothing too hard for God.

Now the word"All". It means everything. Don’t just throw one or two or three of your problems on God, but throw all of your problems on God. God is asking to cast everything on Him. That includes all present and future problems. We must stop trying to "handle" everything ourselves and give ourselves and everything that goes with us to God. That means to Let God handle our problems. Let God handle our concerns. Let God handle our worries and anxieties. Let God handle our fears and challenges. Let God handle our failures and disappointments. Why? Because He cares for you!

Notice what I Peter 5:7 says, "for he careth for you" is hoti auto melei peri humon . It means "to Him it matters concerning you" or "for you are His concern." Wow! God is concerned about us! God loves us. He cares for us. He is interested in what we do, what we are, where we’re going. In other words, you matter a whole lot to God!!!!!

There was this song writer by the name of Frank Graeff who wrote these words to this hymn, Does Jesus care? In this hymn, He writes:

Does Jesus care when my heart is pained

Too deeply for mirth or song,

As the burdens press, and the cares distress

And the way grows weary and long?

Does Jesus care when my way is dark

With a nameless dread and fear?

As the daylight fades into deep night shades,

Does He care enough to be near?

Does Jesus care when I’ve tried and failed

To resist some temptation strong;

When for my deep grief there is no relief,

Though my tears flow all the night long?

Does Jesus care when I’ve said "goodbye"

To the dearest on earth to me,

And my sad heart aches till it nearly breaks,

Is it aught to Him? Does He see?

Oh yes, He cares, I know He cares,

His heart is touched with my grief;

When the days are weary, the long nights dreary,

I know my Savior cares.

But yet another question is being asked. And that question is, “How much does Jesus cares about you?” Well, I like to share with you in this message to show you how much Jesus cares about you by using each letter in the word CARES because each letter in the word CARES teaches us how much Jesus really cares about us.

1. The first letter in CARES is C. And Jesus cares about us so much that He will Comfort us when we are troubled.

II. Corinthians 1:3-4 says, “Blesses be the God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; who comforted us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in trouble by the comfort, wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.”

2. The second letter in CARES is A. And Jesus cares about us so much that He will come to your Aid when you need help.

Psalm 46:1 says, “God is a our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

Isaiah 41:10 says, “Fear not; for I am with thee; be not dismayed; for I am thy God; I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”

3. The third letter in the word CARES is R. And Jesus care about you so much that He is able to Restore your weary soul, and give you Rest.

Psalm 23:1-3 says, “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He maketh me lie down in green pastures. He leadeth me besides the still waters. He restores my soul. He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name sake.”

Matthew 11:28-says, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and ye shall find rest unto your souls.”

4. The fourth letter in the word CARES is E. And Jesus cares about you so much that He Eternally loves you.

Jeremiah 31:3 says, “The Lord hath appeared of old unto me saying, Yea, I have loved you with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.”

John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but shall have everlasting life.”

Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrated his love towards us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ dies for us.”

5. The fifth letter in the word CARES is S. And Jesus cares about you so much that He will Supply your every need.

Philippians 4:19 says, “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

And because Jesus is able to Comfort us when we are troubled,

Because Jesus is able to come to our Aid when we need help

Because Jesus is able to Restore our weary soul and give us Rest

Because Jesus Eternally Loves us

And because Jesus is able to Supply our every need

Hebrews 4:19 says, Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in the time of need.

I Peter 5:7 says, Casing all your care upon him(Your worries, your burdens, your problems, your bad circumstances or situations); for he cares for you.”

Caring for people is nothing new to God. He’s been doing it from eternity past. He cared for people when He decided to create them. He cared for people when He chose some from humanity to be to His Praise and Glory. He cared for Adam and Eve after they sinned against Him. He cared for Noah and his family when He destroyed the world by water. He cared for Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, David, Solomon, Daniel and three Hebrew boys in the trials of their lives. He cared for Peter, James and John as they struggled to understand the teachings of Christ and the meaning of His Death and Resurrection. He cared for Paul as the Apostle took the message of salvation by grace through faith to the world. He cared for millions of Christians who lived and died for centuries for their faith in Christ. He cares for you and for me today. He will never leave you alone. He will never forsake you for another. He will always be close to you. He will always hear you. He will always take care of you.

Sometimes it may seem that no one cares about what you are going through.

You may be going through something at School

Or at work with your boss.

You may be in trouble with the law.

You may drink too much and would like to stop drinking.

Maybe you do drugs and can’t stop.

Maybe you are looking for a mate.

Maybe you and your family don’t get along.

Maybe you feel like no one loves you or cares about you.

Let me say this no matter what it is that you are going through or gets you down.

Jesus does care and he wants to set you free!

Jesus cares about your life and He wants to help you make it..

1st Peter 5:7 Casting all your cares on Him, because He cares for you.

He cared so much he died on the Cross for our sins. He was buried in the grave for three days, but on the third day, early Sunday morning, Jesus got up out of the grave with all power in his hands. And the bible says in Romans 10:9, “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus Christ, and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
