Lesson: How to Handle Problems in the Cell
I. The Cell Leader’s responsibility:
A. To shepherd the flock God has entrusted to him. Acts 20:28
1. Teaching (Feeding)
2. Training
3. Guiding (Leading)
B. To disciple the flock. Matthew 28:28
1. To disciple also means to discipline them by the Word of God.
Note: One of the best ways to do this is by living your life according to God’s principles and be an example to them.
C. To encourage and exhort the flock. Acts 14:21-22; Hebrews 10:25
D. To pray for the flock. Ephesians 1:15-23; Colossians 1:3-6
1. I believe one of the reasons the apostle Paul was very much influencing the saints during his time was because of his intercession for them always. People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care.
E. To handle problems that arise in the cell group, base on the God’s Word.
1. Problems that might arise in the Cell.
a. Rebellion (when a potential leader or any member thinks they are better than the Cell leader and will not submit)
b. Differences between Cell leader and potential leader.
c. Differences between Cell leader and Cell member
d. Differences between Cell member and another Cell member.
e. An invited friend of a member who has many questions during discussion that is not related to the topic and is already disturbing the group. (a.k.a. pilosopong Tasio)
f. An attendee who is a member of a cult group who is questioning our beliefs and wants a debate.
2. Solutions and approach to the problems.
Note: Always approach the situation with an attitude that your goal is to help both parties. Do not automatically be biased. Look at the whole picture or scenario and most of all listen carefully.
a. When somebody thinks they are better than the cell leader assigned and is causing division within the group, that person must be dealt with immediately.
• The Cell leader must confront and rebuke him privately and with love using the Word of God. Matthew 8:5-10; Proverbs 16:18; James 4:6-10
• The Cell leader must inform his/her G12 leader.

• If the proud person does not listen to correction, then the G12 leader and the Cell leader should approach one of the pastors concerning the matter.
b. If the potential leader has differences or misunderstandings with the Cell leader, he should:
• Not go directly to the Cell leader’s G12 leader or to any pastor.
• Not cause division among the group by informing them of your differences or problems with the Cell leader.
• Talk it over first with the Cell leader. Matthew 18:15-17
• If nothing happens with your talk with him, then inform his / her G12 leader.
c. If the Cell member has differences or misunderstandings with the Cell leader. (Just follow the steps in solution “B”)
d. If there are differences or misunderstandings between or among Cell members:
• The Cell leader must listen carefully to both parties.
• The Cell leader must be biased.
• The Cell leader must see the whole picture.
• The Cell leader must use wisdom coming from the principles of the Word of God concerning the situation.
• The Cell leader can ask assistance from his / her G12 leader.
e. If there is an attendee who is disturbing the group by being a “pilosopong Tasio”.
• The Cell leader must stop him immediately by telling him that we can discuss the matter after the cell meeting.
• If the person is persistent (makulit), the Cell host and the Cell leader can ask the person to leave the place and tell him to comeback next time to meet one of the pastors of our church.
f. If a cult member attends a Cell meeting and is questioning our belief and wants a debate: (Just follow the steps in solution “E”)
