Micah 2:7 – 13

Vers 13

BBE: The opener of the way will go up before them: forcing their way out they will go on to the doorway and out through it: their king will go on before them, and the Lord at their head.

Darby: One that breaketh through is gone up before them: they have broken forth, and have passed on to the gate, and are gone out by it; and their king passeth on before them, and Jehovah at the head of them.

ESV: He who opens the breach goes up before them; they break through and pass the gate, going out by it. Their king passes on before them, the LORD at their head.

In this life, I believe, there are 4 types of people.

a) There is the macho man type of person. In Afrikaans we call them a “breker”. They walk around as if the whole world belongs to them. They will manipulate people just to get their own will. They do not care about other people’s feelings. They are always the cleverest, the smartest and always knows and have the best.

You get them in the church also. They are the know-it-all spirituals. They always know the best. They always can do anything better and will always make sure that everybody hears about it. They will make any statement they want to because they and they alone are in contact with God. They can not work with any Pastor because they are always more anointed. They are always right irregardless of how many people they hurt in the process.

b) Then there are those people that always want to break down any good work. They will always find fault with everything irregardless of the wonderful work the Lord is doing in a congregation. They can not see just the good; there will always with everything be something wrong and they will be very quick to make it known. Unfortunately they are those people who can only find fault but will themselves never do anything in the church.

c) Then there are those people that always want to break everything up. It is as if it is their task in life to break up relationships by gossiping. They always have some gossip story to tell about someone. They never seem to realise that all they do is breaking up relationships.

d) Then of course there are those very few people that can break through. And it is about this person that I want to speak.

When we talk about someone that can break through, we refer to a person that in spite of resistance and in spite of circumstances and in spite of very difficult situations still can break through into victory; still can break through into that which God has in store for them, into a deeper and more intimate relationship with God.

In our text the prophet is talking about difficult situations. A lot of bad things have happened to God’s people. They experienced hard times. They were at a place, it seems, where they have even lost their faith. They were blaming God for everything.

Vers 7 – 9

AMP: O house of Jacob, shall it be said, Is the Spirit of the Lord restricted, impatient, and shortened? Or are these [prophesied plagues] His doings? Do not My words do good to him who walks uprightly? But lately (yesterday) My people have stood up as an enemy [and have made Me their antagonist]. Off from the garment you strip the cloak of those who pass by in secure confidence of safety and are averse to war. The women of My people you cast out from their pleasant houses; from their young children you take away My glory forever.

Many times we find ourselves in the same situations. We start to blame God for everything that has gone wrong. We blame Him for the walls that divide us. But listen to His Word: this is not His doings. His Words do only good. But we have become an enemy of God because we have stood up against Him.

But listen to vers 10.

AMP: Arise and depart, for this is not the rest [which was promised to the righteous in Canaan], because of uncleanness that works destruction, even a sharp and grievous destruction.

God says that this is not where He wants us to be. It is not His will nor His plan for us. It is time to arise and depart because there is a place of restoration ready for us.

Vers 12

With total certainty I want to declare that the time of restoration of the sons and daughters of God is here.

Amos 9:11

GNB: The LORD says, "A day is coming when I will restore the kingdom of David, which is like a house fallen into ruins. I will repair its walls and restore it. I will rebuild it and make it as it was long ago.

It is the time of restoration; it is the time of breaking through the dividing walls.

Amos 9:12 – it is for everybody that is called by His name.

So God is not referring only to the nation of Israel but to every born again son of God.

For long enough we were sitting in dreadful situations. For long enough we were behind walls of sickness, poverty, unhappiness, religion. This is not our rest – it is time to arise and depart.

I am more convinced than ever that it is not the time for the world anymore – it is the time of the Church of Jesus Christ. It is time to break through and enter into the rest of God. God wants to restore the fallen tabernacle of David. It is time for the church to have the biggest and greatest impact in this world. No longer must we be just another fallen tabernacle.

The time of restoration, the time of breaking through is here. God is looking for His sons to be manifested – to break through. God is looking for someone that can pass in through the gate and go out through it.

God has made it easy for us to break through.

Micah 2:13

AMP: The Breaker [the Messiah] will go up before them. They will break through, pass in through the gate and go out through it, and their King will pass on before them, the Lord at their head.

Jesus has already broken through for us. He went before us and broke through every wall that can surround and divide us. It does not matter what wall surround you, there is somewhere in that wall a gap, a hole, a gate which was placed there by Jesus. All we need to do is to arise and depart and pass in through the gate and go out through it.

Yes there are still walls but Jesus has broken through them all. There is still a wall of sickness, but by His stripes we are healed. There is still a wall of sin but by His grace we are saved. There is still a wall of bad relationships but by His blood there is forgiveness. There is still a wall of financial difficulties but all the silver and all the gold belongs to Him and He will supply all my need according to His riches in glory.

Jesus is our Breaker that has gone before us and He will still pass before us as our King en He as Lord will be our head. He has already paved the path for us. All we need to do is to arise and depart through the gate which He has opened.

I believe god’s desire for His people is to start to break through. When Jesus was sitting at the well of Jacob a Samaritan women come to Him and His heart and purpose was for this woman to break through; to arise and depart through the gate.

There were two walls surrounding this woman from which she needed to break through.

The first wall was sin.

John 4:16 – 18

The second wall was religion.

John 4:20 – 24

All that Jesus actually was saying to her was: woman, break through; woman arise and depart for this is not your place of rest. There is a better place prepared for you. There are already holes in your walls, so arise and pass through it.

I believe God is searching for people who will be prepared to declare that they are no longer satisfied with their present situations and present spiritual condition. He is looking for people who will have the guts to say there must be more and better; there must be a deeper dimension and intimacy with God. I am no longer satisfied just to walk in ankle deep water, I am going to break through into what God has in store for me; I’m going to break through into the glory of God.

Jesus has already broken through, it is time to arise and depart.

I just quickly want to mention 4 things I believe we must break through to.

Firstly, I believe it is time to break through into true worship.

When we talk about the fallen tabernacle of David, we must understand that it represents nothing else but worship. For 24 hours out of 24 hours David placed worshippers in the tabernacle.

We must understand that worship is not a lot of actions. Worship is to please God. Worship is to bring pleasure to God. My life only becomes a life of worship when my life becomes pleasing to God. Anything you do that brings pleasure to God is an act of worship.

Psalm 147:11

CEV: The LORD is pleased only with those who worship him and trust his love.

Worship is far more than music. In fact worship has nothing to do with the style or volume or speed of a song. Worship is pleasing God. Worship must not be part of our life; worship must be our life.

It is time to arise and depart into a lifestyle that is pleasing to God.

Secondly, we need to break through into the glory and presence of God.

That is where we need to live everyday of our life.

Hebrews 10 19 – 22

AMP: Therefore, brethren, since we have full freedom and confidence to enter into the [Holy of] Holies [by the power and virtue] in the blood of Jesus, By this fresh (new) and living way which He initiated and dedicated and opened for us through the separating curtain (veil of the Holy of Holies), that is, through His flesh, And since we have [such] a great and wonderful and noble Priest [Who rules] over the house of God, Let us all come forward and draw near with true (honest and sincere) hearts in unqualified assurance and absolute conviction engendered by faith (by that leaning of the entire human personality on God in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness), having our hearts sprinkled and purified from a guilty (evil) conscience and our bodies cleansed with pure water.

Hebrews 9:6 – 8

AMP: These arrangements having thus been made, the priests enter [habitually] into the outer division of the tabernacle in performance of their ritual acts of worship. But into the second [division of the tabernacle] none but the high priest goes, and he only once a year, and never without taking a sacrifice of blood with him, which he offers for himself and for the errors and sins of ignorance and thoughtlessness which the people have committed. [Lev. 16:15.] By this the Holy Spirit points out that the way into the [true Holy of] Holies is not yet thrown open as long as the former [the outer portion of the] tabernacle remains a recognized institution and is still standing,

As long as we sit surrounded by our walls, we can not enter into the glory and presence of God.

Thirdly, we need to break through into a spiritual realm where the Gifts of the Holy Spirit can freely flow through us again.

God will bless you IF He can bless through you.

It is time for the Gifts of the Spirit to flow through us again.

Lastly, we need to break through into real love.

Ephesians 3:17 – 19

AMP: May Christ through your faith [actually] dwell (settle down, abide, make His permanent home) in your hearts! May you be rooted deep in love and founded securely on love, That you may have the power and be strong to apprehend and grasp with all the saints [God’s devoted people, the experience of that love] what is the breadth and length and height and depth [of it]; [That you may really come] to know [practically, through experience for yourselves] the love of Christ, which far surpasses mere knowledge [without experience]; that you may be filled [through all your being] unto all the fullness of God [may have the richest measure of the divine Presence, and become a body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself]!

If we really understand and know the love God has for us, it is easy then to love others.

In closing, Jesus already broke through every wall that can be named. This is not your rest, so arise and depart and pass in through the gate and go out through it.
