Summary: Jesus came to minister to us in every point of need.

HE’S MY EVERYTHING

Isaiah 9:6

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

If I asked you, Who or What is Jesus to You?, then how would you describe Him? Or better yet, How would you describe Jesus in one word? No, two words. What would they be?

Now for some people this might be quiet easy. Some may say, Insurance Policy. Others may say, Good Man. Some may even say, Imposter. But to those who really know Him it is not easy at all. Let me ask you today, If you could describe Jesus in one or two words, then what would you say?

It isn’t easy is it? I think you would agree, one title or one word cannot adequately describe Him. Actually, all the adjectives and all the names of the world are insufficient to fairly ascribe the person of Jesus Christ.

Thus, Isaiah, the wise prophet of old didn’t even try. Instead, Isaiah strung together a list of titles in the attempt to bring light upon this Unique Savior.

HE’S MY ........

1) PRECIOUS FRIEND

..a child is born....

Speaks of His Humanity

Jesus, the Son of God, came in the flesh as man for three major reasons:

1) Substitutionary Sacrifice for man’s sin

2) Fulfill the Law of God

3) Provide Man an Opportunity for Relationship with God

In the Jewish culture a personal relationship with God was a foreign concept. Even in the Levitical system given to the Israelites, man could only come to God through the High Priest.

But Jesus, the Son of God, came in the flesh in order than man may know God in a personal way.

(John 15:12 15) This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. 13Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. 14Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. 15Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

2) PRICELESS GIFT

...a Son is given...

Speaks of God’s Love

When we really want to show someone our love and appreciation for them, we give them that which is most valuable to us. Much as the story of the story of the young couple who did not have money to but each other Christmas gifts. Yet, out of love the young man sold his watch which had been passed down to him from his grandfather in order that he could buy his young wife a fine comb for her beautiful hair. But unknowing to him, at the same time his young wife sold her beautiful hair to have the money to purchase her beloved a chain for his watch. Wow. Can you imagine the love for one another?

When God gave His Son, He gave His most valued possession to us. Therefore, every time we hear the name of Jesus or think of Him we should be reminded of God’s great love for you and me. Friends, you are important to God. Never allow Satan to deceive you that you are not loved and are all alone. Just think of Jesus. He is your Priceless Gift. He proves your value to God.

If you ever have any doubts of God=s love for you then remember the two great love verses and personalize them by replacing the personal pronouns with your own name:

(John 3:16) For God so love John that He gave His only begotten Son...

(Romans 5:8) God demonstrated His love toward John, in that while I ...

He knows overt actions and our covert thoughts.

He knows our every pain and sorrow

He understands all things and therefore can empathize with us

(Heb 2:18a) For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted......,

He can Counsel Us in all things

(Heb 2:18b) ...... he is able to succour them that are tempted.

4) POWERFUL CREATOR

...Mighty God...

Speaks of His Omnipotence

-Mighty (gibbor) strong, mighty

-God (el) god, used in creation description

The Messiah not only has the ability to know, understand and counsel us through any problem, but He has the power to overcome even the Goliaths of our lives. Just think about the biggest problem in your life right now, or even the biggest you may ever face. Is that problem more powerful than the God who created the universe?

Think about what young David said when confronting a real giant,

(1 Sam 17:37,45) 37David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the

paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee.

45Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.

(John 14:27) Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
