Summary: Spiritul Pressing Produces Fruit.

I Am Like A Green Olive Tree

Isa 53:2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, [yo-nake’ a twig (of a tree felled and sprouting): - tender plant.] and as a root out of a dry ground: [tsee-yaw’ parch; aridity; concretely a desert: - barren, drought, dry (land, place), solitary place, wilderness.]he hath no form [appearance]nor comeliness; [magnificence]and when we shall see him, there is no beauty[outward looks] that we should desire him. [but]

Isa 53:3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Isa 53:4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

Isa 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Isa 11:1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

Isa 11:2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;

What kind of tree was God and Isaiah thinking about?

Olives and olive branches are ancient symbols of peace.

Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

The olive tree produces olives

According to history people would shake and beat the olive tree to get the olives to the ground.

It would appear to the average person that the men who would shake and beat the tree it would kill the tree but this was how you get the greatness.

Olive trees can be exceptionally long-lived, up to several centuries, and can remain productive for as long, provided they are pruned [twigs branches roots cut] correctly and regularly.

The olive tree grows very slowly, but over many years the trunk can attain a considerable diameter. They can possibly reach great age of thousands of years and the trees rarely exceed 45 feet in height,

Olive trees are evergreens and do well even in dry climates because of its extensive deep reaching roots.

When the olives are shaken and beaten out of the tree they would be gathered and put in a press and then trampled by the foot of man.

Exo 27:20 And thou shalt command the children of Israel, that they bring thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamp to burn always.

Exo 27:21 In the tabernacle of the congregation without the vail, which is before the testimony, Aaron and his sons shall order it from evening to morning before the LORD: it shall be a statute for ever unto their generations on the behalf of the children of Israel.

-This oil and continual flame were not only emblematical of the unction and influences of the Holy Ghost, but also of that pure spirit of devotion which ever animates the hearts and minds of the genuine worshippers of the true God.

Luk 10:33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

Luk 10:34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

Something powerful and wonderful about that oil

Thomas Andrew Dorsey was a black jazz musician from Atlanta. In the twenties he gained a certain amount of notoriety as the composer of jazz tunes with suggestive lyrics, but he gave all that up in 1926 to concentrate exclusively on spiritual music. "Peace in the Valley" is one of his best known songs, but there is a story behind his most famous song that deserves to be told.

In 1932 the times were hard for Dorsey. Just trying to survive the depression years as a working musician meant tough sledding. On top of that, his music was not accepted by many people. Some said it was much too worldly-the devil’s music, they called it. Many years later Dorsey could laugh about it. He said, "I got kicked out of some of the best churches in the land." But the real kick in the teeth came one night in St. Louis when he received a telegram informing him that his pregnant wife had died suddenly.

Dorsey was so filled with grief that his faith was shaken to the roots, but instead of wallowing in self-pity, he turned to the discipline he knew best-music. In the midst of agony he wrote the following lyrics:

Precious Lord, take my hand,

Lead me on, let me stand.

I am tired, I am weak, I am worn.

Through the storm, through the night,

Lead me on to the light;

Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home.

If you live long enough, you will experience heartache, disappointment, and sheer helplessness. The Lord is our most precious resource in those hours of trauma. "The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble (Psa_9:9). Tom Dorsey understood that. His song was originally written as a way of coping with his personal pain, but even today it continues to bless thousands of others when they pass through times of hardship.

Gethsemane was a place of crushing an olive press

This is where the humanity of Jesus was pressed in prayer

The devil thought he was so smart they tethered Jesus to the whipping post and they commenced to beating and striping his back but as they beat and crsuhed the olive greatness began to ooze out of his back

By his stripes we are healed

1Co 11:24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

Joh 15:1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

Joh 15:2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

Joh 15:3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

Joh 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

When we are disconnected men gather us up and we are annihilated.

There must be a constant connection and understanding that we must go through his processes

Psa 52:8 But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.

Psa 52:9 I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before thy saints.

David said this when he was running from Saul for his life.

David compared his running and hiding and fear and wondering and pain to him being an olive tree,

He meant I am safe and happy, notwithstanding the effort made by my enemy for my destruction. I have been kept unharmed, like a green and flourishing tree - a tree protected in the very courts of the sanctuary - safe under the care and the eye of God. A green tree is the emblem of prosperity.

The gloomy song now brightens up, and in calmer tones draws rapidly to a close. The betrayer becomes like an uprooted tree; the betrayed, however, stands firm and is like to a green-foliaged olive (Jer_11:16) which is planted in the house of Elohim (Psa_90:14), that is to say, in sacred and inaccessible ground; cf. the promise in Isa_60:13.

He says I am better now that I have been crushed

What the roman soldiers didn’t know is that they were crushing the oil that was going to light up some HG POWER in an upper room.

Isa 17:6 Yet gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outmost fruitful branches thereof, saith the LORD God of Israel.

The ones that are not moved or do not fall to the ground are the most unripe and are of the poorest quality.

The tree only gives up what is ready to be used.

If you force the olive into the press it gives very little oil.

Psa 128:1 Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways.

Psa 128:2 For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.

Psa 128:4 Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the LORD.

Psa 128:5 The LORD shall bless thee out of Zion: and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life.

Psa 128:6 Yea, thou shalt see thy children’s children, and peace upon Israel.

Do you know how cranberries are harvested? When the fruit is ripe, the cranberry bog is flooded with water. As the water covers the bush, the ruby red berries separate from the bush and float to the surface where they are gathered and distributed to cranberry lovers around the country.

When the flood waters of trouble and trials sweep over your soul, what is the result? Is fruit "meet for the Master’s use" released to bless and meet the needs of the hungry world around you?
