8. Phillips Craig And Dean - “He’ll Do Whatever It Takes”

You don’t know just how far away from home I’ve been

She said, as she looked into my eyes

Could it be I’ve strayed beyond Mercy’s outstretched hand?

And now His grace no longer stoops To hear my cry

You see, I just wanna know Tell me how far will He go?

Will He still reach for me inspite of where I’ve been?

He’ll do whatever, whatever it takes

His grace reaches lower than your worst mistakes

And His love will run farther Than you can run away,

He’ll do whatever it takes

I’ve heard His love is patient, that He always hears a prayer

And that His love will follow you despite the miles

My best years of life I wasted. Why would He even really care?

What have I to give that He would find worthwhile?

You see I just wanna know tell me how far will He go?

Will He still reach for me inspite of who I am?

♦Tonya’s FAVORITE dress up item was the PEARL NECKLACE she bought with her allowance money.

♦She wore it all the time.

♦The only time she took it off was when she went swimming or when she took a bubble bath, only because mommy told her that if it got wet, it might turn her skin green.

♦One night, after daddy read their Bible story, he said to Tonya, “Tonya, do you love me?”

♦“Yes, daddy, you know that I love you.”

♦“Then would you give daddy your pearl necklace?

♦ “O daddy, not my pearls! You can have any my pink necklace, but please not my pearls”

♦”That’s OK sweetheart. Daddy loves you. Goodnight”

♦Several nights later, after their Bible story. . . “Tonya, do you love daddy?”

♦ “Yes daddy, you know that I love you!”

♦“Then would you give daddy your pearl necklace?

♦ “O daddy, not my pearls! You can have my new baby doll that grandma gave me for Christmas, but not my pearls”

♦”That’s OK sweetheart. Daddy loves you. Goodnight”

♦A few nights later, when Tony’s daddy came in to read their Bible story, he noticed Tonya sitting up in her bed, legs crossed, chin quivering. She didn’t say anything, but held up her hand to her daddy. Clasped in her tiny grip was her favorite dress up pearl necklace. “Here daddy, this is for you”

♦Tears welled up in her daddy’s eyes. In one hand he reached and took her dime store necklace. With he other hand, he reached in his pocket, and took out a blue velvet case with a string of genuine pearls for his daughter. He had them in his pocket all the time. He was just waiting for her to surrender a cheap imitation so that he could give her something that was real!
