The Blood of the New Testament

Hebrews 9:11-15

1. Let’s read Hebrews 9:11-12 together…..

**Hebrews 10:4 says….

4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

~We need to be clear that it is ONLY the blood of Christ that will take away the sins of

mankind.

**Hebrews 7:27 says…

27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

~And that He didn’t do this for himself, but for those that needed salvation.

A. First for his own sins…..Christ did not do, He was and is sinless!

B. Once….Christ had entered in only one time, not daily!

C. Notice were it was done…the High Priest went into the earthly Temple

Christ entered in the Holiest of Holies

~It is high time that we honor the church of God in this day and age we live in. there is

way too much ungodly stuff going on inside the House of God.

~And we not do this because we are here, we do this be He is here among us!

**Hebrews 4:16 says…

16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Let’s read Hebrews 9:12 again

12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us

A. The phrase “having obtained eternal redemption for us”

….it means to “obtain” or to “find” which we find in the above passage of He 4:16

He went to a place that I could not go, He paid the price that I could not pay, and gave a life I could not offer.

B. Christ did this for us, not himself, He did not need salvation!

C He also knew were to find (obtain) it, we would still be looking for it each day.

D. He found it, and gave it to us…..eternal redemption

E. The price that was paid stands forever, and is accepted by God.

2. Lets’ look at Hebrews 9:13 together…

~The rituals of the Law only cleansed the body

~The Blood of Christ, cleanses the soul and the spirit, and is reconciled unto God.

I John 1:7 says…

7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

~I’m glad that Jesus took care of it all. Aren’t you?

3. Let’s read Hebrews 9:14 together….

(The Blood of Christ)

A. was shed for the forgiveness of sins

B. washes our sins away

C. it makes us overcomers

D. it accomplishes an eternal redemption for us.

~The blood of bulls and of goats couldn’t do this

~It is only by the Blood of Jesus Christ

Hebrews 9:22 says…

22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

~If the blood has not been applied, then you’re still in your sins…

~If it has been, you are in remission from them!

4. Let’s read Hebrews 9:15 together…

~Notice the phrase (and for this cause), it means “to this end Christ came”

…..what end? The end of his life, for the sins of mankind.

Hebrews 9:14 says….”He offered himself”

~This verse (15) has 3 great keys in it, notice what it says happens…

And for this cause………… He died

Obtained redemption

Received the promise

~The saints of the Old Testament were looking for the Messiah, redeemer, and the

Salvation to come.

~The saints of the New Testament are looking back to the Cross, thankful that we have

received this in the person of Jesus Christ.

~Under the Jewish covenant the people inherited earthly things

~Under Grace we receive all the blessings of heaven.

Closing:

~I want you to know tit took the Blood 2000 years ago, it still takes the Blood 2000 years

later, and if we live here another 2000 years, it will still take the Blood.

~It takes the Blood, it the Blood or Hell.

`Close with the song…”nothing but the blood” (Read the verses of the song)
