Three Names for the New Testament Church
I Timothy 3:15-16 KJV
Intro:
I would like to look at another passage and use it for our introduction today. Lets look at Acts 2:41-42 and see what is in that text today.
Acts 2:41-42 says….
41. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. 42 And they continued stedfastly in the (apostles’ doctrine) and (fellowship), and in (breaking of bread), and in (prayers).
~It is important that we notice how the church began in these opening chapters of Acts,
but it is real important to see what they did after service that kept things going once they
left the house of God.
By maintaining these 4 principals they were able to see the power of God not only to the lost (3000 saved) but the lost were able to see how the saints ought to behave themselves in the house of God.
**Lets go back now to our text and see what the Lord has in store for us here today.
1. THE HOUSE OF GOD….V15a
Psalm 27 4 says….
One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.
Psalm 122:1 says…
I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.
Galatians 6:10 says….
As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
Here are a few names of it in the Bible
HOUSE OF GOD HOUSE OF THE LORD HOUSE OF PRAYER
SANCTUARY TABERNACLE TEMPLE HOLY PLACE
HOLY TEMPLE MY FATHER’S HOUSE CHURCH OF GOD
What ever the title may be called, we need to honor and reverence the House of God.
2. THE CHURCH OF THE LIVING GOD….V.15b
~Note that is says the “Living God” not the dead God.
~If He is alive, we need to act like we are alive too.
~I am sick of these dead church people, you have been quickened back to life by the
resurrection of The Lord Jesus Christ, it’s time we act like it!!
~A dead church will never help the cause of salvation for the work of God.
~If you have nothing to excited about, what do you think others are going to??????
Psalm 42:1-2 says…
As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?
Hebrews 10:31 says….
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
**We must know that He is alive and well, and honor Him now while we have a
choice to, trust me when I tell you do not want this verse to come true.
3. THE PILLAR AND GROUND OF TRUTH….V.15c
John 1:14-17 says.…
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
John 14:6 says…
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
~This is the places of all places that the TRUTH must be confessed, preached,
taught, acted upon, lived and rejoiced in.
I Timothy 3:16 says…
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
~There is no way allow anyone to enter into the House of God and teach anything
contrary to the Word of God.
~You may disagree with some tings of the covenant and things of what we think to be
right or wrong.
~But we will never deviate from the Death, Burial, and The Resurrection of Jesus
Christ
CLOSING
This may sound a little un-colorful to some, but the church needs FAT people.

T Teachable people
All for the building of the foundations of this New Testament church.
