Introduction: Prayer Releases All Your Eternal Resources. I came across this acronym in a prayer study a few years ago. There is truth in that phrase because we have all experience God’s power revealed through prayer either as we see God miraculously answer that prayer or by seeing Him change us so that we can accept the answer to prayer. Tonight I want to share with you some of the Power Principles of Prayer from God’s Word so that we can see change in our lives and our world.
I. The call to prayer (James 5.13-14).
a. We are called to pray in times of suffering.
b. We are called to pray in times of celebration.
c. We are called to pray in times of sickness.
II. Some catalyst in prayer (James 5.15-16).
a. A catalyst in prayer is faith.
b. A catalyst in prayer is confession.
c. A catalyst in prayer is fervency.
d. A catalyst in prayer is righteousness.
III. A case in point in prayer (James 5.17).
a. We see Elijah’s nature.
b. We see Elijah’s passion.
IV. The character of God in prayer (Ephesians 3.20).
a. He is able.
b. He is able to do.
c. He is able to do above.
d. He is able to do abundantly above.
e. He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above.
Conclusion: According to the Apostle Paul in Ephesians 6 we are in a spiritual war. Our enemy is not human. Our enemy is spiritual in nature; therefore, our weapons must be spiritual in nature. Paul states that we are to be; "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints (Ephesians 6.18)." If you want to change the world then get on your knees before God so that He can change you first.
