Summary: Migdol means tower and that’s where God brought the children of Israel to. We, as children of God, need to find our way to the tower of power.

******SERMON OUTLINE*******

There’s Power in the Tower...

I. Introduction

Turn with me to Exodus 14:1

Praise God Church!!!

How many in here this morning have ever been

through a storm in your life?

A time in your life when:

Nothing went right!

No matter what you did you couldn’t get back

on your feet! How many been there?

You might catch a break over here but then

the enemy starts attacking over there!

You might work out your financial problems,

but then you’ve got marital problems! Amen?

How many know what I’m talking about this

morning?

Come on now! Don’t get quiet on me this

morning!

This is your chance to speak up and speak out

and be heard! Amen?

How many are going through a storm right

now?

Maybe you’re having troubles...

With your finances,

Bill collectors beating down your door,

Your marriage,

Dealing with unsaved children,

And unsaved spouses,

Maybe the enemy won’t give you a break,

Your boss is giving you a hard time,

Problems with your co-workers

No matter how many applications you fill out

you can’t get a job!

Whatever the case may be you feel like you’ve

been backed into a corner by your problems.

Maybe you feel like there’s no way out!

The enemy has got your back against the wall!

You’re between a rock and a hard place.

Well I want to tell you this morning that I serve

a God who can deliver you from that storm!

He can defeat the enemy that you’re facing!

And not only do I know that He can,

I know that He will!

And not only will He deliver you,

He’ll use that situation to build you up!

He’ll take that same problem that made you

feel so weak and helpless and use it to

strengthen you so that He can recieve the glory

from your life.

How many believe that?

II. The Israelites In Migdol...

Exo 14:1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,

Exo 14:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and encamp before Pi-hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, over against Baal-zephon: before it shall ye encamp by the sea.

Exo 14:3 For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in.

Exo 14:4 And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honored upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host; that the Egyptians may know that I am the LORD. And they did so.

How many see what’s going on here?

God had delivered the children of Israel from Egypt.

He had delivered them from a four hundred and

thirty year old problem.

And now in such a short period of time they seem to

be right back in the storm.

They’ve been dealing with the enemy for 430 years

in Egypt and now they have to face the enemy again

in the wilderness.

Sound familiar?

Just like some of us it seemed like the children of

Israel just couldn’t catch a break. Amen?

Just like us they felt like there was no way out!

They were stuck between the Red Sea and the entire

Egyptian army!

And they just knew that it was all over for them.

They were saying we’ve followed God but he led us

to a dead end!

They were wondering where do we go from here?

They had set up camp between Migdol and the Red

Sea because that’s what Moses said to do,

And now it was starting to look like this was going

to be their final resting place.

They started yelling at Moses and saying

they’d rather serve the Egyptians, than die in

the wilderness,

But God had a different plan!

He brought them to Migdol for a reason!

III. A Tower In The Wilderness...

The name Migdol means...tower

They didn’t realize it, but that is exactly where

God wanted them to be.

He had strategically placed them at that

location.

Towers were built for the defense of the people.

Towers have always been used as points of

lookout.

Guard would climb up to the top of these

towers so that they could see the enemy

coming from a good distance away.

But this is not the only purpose that the tower

fulfills.

Towers, during this particular time period,

were not only used as lookout points.

I found out that these towers were also used as

armories.

Inside of these towers, armies would stockpile

weapons,

so that if the enemy would come, they would

have the weapons that they needed to defend

themselves, and defeat the opposition.

Everything they needed for defense was already

in the tower!

They had firepower in the tower!

I believe that God’s sole purpose for bringing

the Israelites to Migdol was so that they could

aquire the weapons they were going to need

out in the wilderness.

Exo 13:17 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:

God took them the long way around so that

they could get the weapons that they needed

for warfare because He knew that war was in

their future.

They may not have known but God knew and

that’s why He brought them to the tower.

IV. His Name Is Our Tower...

This morning God wants to bring you to the

tower.

Solomon said,

Pro 18:10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

When you took on his name, you were given

access to the tower.

And I want to let you know that there is "Power

in the Tower"

Not only can you find shelter, and comfort in

the tower,

but also you can find whatever weapon you

need to declare war on the enemy!

Whatever it is that you might need this

morning you can find it in the tower.

And Solomon told us that the tower is His

name!

V. The Power In His Name...

There’s power in the name of Jesus! Amen?

There’s...

Healing Power...

If there’s any sick and afflicted here this

morning call on His name because your

healing is in His name!

He is our Healer.

Saving Power...

Act 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

If there’s anybody in here this morning who’s

unsaved or backslidden your salvation is in

His Name!

Not just for you but for your whole house.

Keeping Power...

Overcoming Power...

Wonder Working Power...

No matter what your going through He wants

to work wonders for you!

Your miracle is in His name this morning.

VI. The Name Above All Names...

I don’t care what you’re facing today!

Whatever it is it’s just a name.

Satan is just the name of the enemy!

Cancer is just a name for something!

Bankruptcy, Unemployment, Divorce,

Sickness, Disease, Poverty, and even Death

Are just names....

But scripture says that Jesus is the name above all names!!!

If it can raise the dead...

It can raise you above your circumstance.

It can raise up Holiness Tabernacle in this

city despite the enemies fight against us!

All we gotta do is apply the name!

VII. In His Name...

David, stood before Goliath and proclaimed in,

1Sa 17:45 ...Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD...

The world can bring anything against you

that they want to,

but we’ve got the real firepower.

It’s in His name!

All the weapons of your warfare are in your

strong tower!

David didn’t say, "I’m coming to you with the

name of the Lord",

He said, "I’m coming in the name of the Lord!"

David wasn’t happy just bringing the name

with him.

It’s not enough for us to say we know his

name.

We’ve got to wear his name.

We’ve got to take on his name.

VIII. Moving Forward In The Name...

Pharaoh said, "They are entangled in the

land, the wilderness hath shut them in."

It appeared that Pharoah had them right

where he wanted them.

But in reality, they were where God wanted

them to be.

See the problem today is we’ve got too many

Christians who aren’t content being where

God wants them to be.

Like some of the children of Israel were

focused on Pharoah and his army who were

coming up from behind,

There’s too many Christians today focusing

on the past that’s behind them.

We need to tell the enemy to get thee behind

me Satan,

And quit looking back to see if He’s there.

Know that He’s there and keep moving

forward In the Name of Jesus. Amen?

It’s not until you run into the tower that you

are safe. Amen?

Yet there are some Christians who stop at the

door and look to the left and the right

And they’re overcome by their present

circumstances.

Just like on the left and right of the Israelites

There were two mountain ranges,

And how many knows that mountains

represent the immpossible.

We can’t be side tracked by the impossible,

We have to move forward in the immpossible

In front of the Israelites was the Red Sea...

It seemed immpossible but it was their future

and that’s where God wanted their focus.

He wants you to stay focused on the future

and all the possibilities in Christ.

Don’t be like the Israelites.

They looked at it as a dead end.

But God look at it as potential.

The Egyptians saw it as a great big

unsurpassable body of water,

but God saw it as an opportunity for the

miraculous!

The devil will make you think that he’s got

you between a rock and a hard place.

But in reality, you’re exactly where God

wants you.

On one side, you have the power in the tower,

and on the other side you have the

opportunity for the miraculous.

Paul said,

2Co 4:8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;

2Co 4:9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

It may look like we’ve followed God to a dead end,

but in reality it’s an ambush for the enemy!

IX. Conclusion...

The Israelites are now standing at the edge of

the Red Sea wondering what to do next.

Then all of a sudden God speaks to them,

and says you’re going to go through the Red Sea.

I tell you if you’re going to get all of what

God has for you sometimes you gotta pass

through the water. Amen?

Whether it’s the sea or the storm.

But even though you have to stand in the

rain it doesn’t mean you have to get wet.

The Israelites walked through on dry ground.

The next morning they looked on the beaches

and there laid the bodies of their enemies that

had been drowned in the night!

The enemy had been drowned in their miracle.

You may be at a dead end right now,

but just remember it might just be an

ambush that God has setup for the enemy of

your soul.

And after everything is said and done you’re

going to see your enemy drown in your

blessing!

Your situation may not be what it appears!

God may be setting you up for a miracle Amen!

Jer 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Jer 29:12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.

Jer 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

Jer 29:14 And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.

Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
