1. GREAT EXPECTATIONS

The Lord wants to do great things for us and for our land. We must have great expectations because we have a great God. We who have the Lord as our God are blessed. The Lord will deliver us from our enemies. He will bless our children and grant them a bright future. He will grant us prosperity and cause us to increase and protect us from evil. The Lord wants us to put our whole trust in Him alone and not rely on human help which can fail us at any time. We must rely on the Lord who will grant us justice and meet our needs. The Lord watches over us and sustains the fatherless and widows. He destroys the plans of the wicked and sets His people free.

JOEL 2:21

Be not afraid, O land; be glad and rejoice. Surely the LORD has done great things.

PSALM 144:9-15

I will sing a new song to you, O God; on the ten-stringed lyre I will make music to you,

to the One who gives victory to kings, who delivers his servant David from the deadly sword.

Deliver me and rescue me from the hands of foreigners whose mouths are full of lies, whose right hands are deceitful.

Then our sons in their youth will be like well-nurtured plants, and our daughters will be like pillars carved to adorn a palace.

Our barns will be filled with every kind of provision. Our sheep will increase by thousands, by tens of thousands in our fields;

our oxen will draw heavy loads. There will be no breaching of walls, no going into captivity, no cry of distress in our streets.

Blessed are the people of whom this is true; blessed are the people whose God is the LORD.

PSALM 146:1-10

Praise the LORD.Praise the LORD, O my soul.

I will praise the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.

Do not put your trust in princes, in mortal men, who cannot save.

When their spirit departs, they return to the ground;on that very day their plans come to nothing.

Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God,

the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them— the LORD, who remains faithful forever.

He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets prisoners free,

the LORD gives sight to the blind, the LORD lifts up those who are bowed down, the LORD loves the righteous.

The LORD watches over the alien and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.

The LORD reigns forever, your God, O Zion, for all generations.Praise the LORD.

2. GUIDANCE OF GOD

The Lord wants us to call on Him in our time of need. He is our hiding place where the enemy cannot find us. He will protect us and surround us with songs of deliverance. He will instruct us and teach us in the way that we must go. He will guide us with His eye. The eye of the Lord sees everything and everyone including the past , present and future. He is the best person to guide us in the way that we must go. But we must be receptive and sensitive to His voice because He will not force His counsel on unwilling persons. The eyes of the Lord are searching the whole earth to strengthen those whose hearts are upright before Him.

PSALM 32:6-11

Therefore let everyone who is godly pray to you while you may be found; surely when the mighty waters rise, they will not reach him.

You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;I will counsel you and watch over you.

Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you.

Many are the woes of the wicked, but the LORD’s unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in him.

Rejoice in the LORD and be glad, you righteous; sing, all you who are upright in heart!

2 CHRONICLES 16:9

For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. You have done a foolish thing, and from now on you will be at war."

3. GLORIOUS PROMISE

The Lord wants to deliver us from all our troubles. We may face many troubles but we must claim the promises of God to deliver us from all of them. We need not give up hope in any of the trouble that we may face because the Lord has promised to deliver us from all our troubles.

PSALM 54:7

For he has delivered me from all my troubles, and my eyes have looked in triumph on my foes.

PSALM 34:19

A righteous man may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all;

4. GENERATIONAL BLESSING

The Lord delivers the righteous from trouble. He delivers the descendants of the righteous. The people of Israel were the descendants of Abraham , Isaac and Jacob. When they were in bondage in Egypt , the Lord appeared to Moses and revealed Himself as the God of their father , the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The Lord came down to deliver the descendants of the patriarchs to keep His covenant with them. We must claim the promises of deliverance both for us and our descendants.

PROVERBS 11: 8, 21

The righteous man is rescued from trouble, and it comes on the wicked instead.

Though they join forces, the wicked will not go unpunished; But the posterity of the righteous will be delivered.

EXODUS 3:6-8

Then he said, "I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob." At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.

The LORD said, "I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering.

So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey—the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites.

5. GATEWAY OF REVELATION

The Lord wants to set us free by revealing the truth to us. The devil wants to keep us in bondage by filling our hearts and minds with his lies and deceptions. As we seek the truth from the scriptures the Lord will grant us enlightenment of the truth. The revelation of truth will deliver us from the lies and deception of satan. The Spirit of the Lord wants to set us free. The Lord Jesus was anointed by the Holy Spirit to set people free from the bondage and oppression of satan.

ACTS 10:38

how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.

6. GUARDING DELIVERANCE

The Lord wants us to maintain the freedom that Christ has given us. We should not get into the bondage of sin and satan. The Lord has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the Kingdom of His Son. Therefore we should not allow the devil to dominate or control us any longer. We have been saved from the wrath of God. We must live in the assurance that we are greatly loved by God as His children.

for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God,

and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.

7. GENERAL PRINCIPLES

We have a God who has delivered us in the past and will deliver us now and will also deliver us in the future. We must put our trust in the Lord who is our deliverer. The Lord knows how to deliver His people. We may not know how we can be delivered .It may look as if there is no way out. But the Lord knows how to deliver us. He is faithful and will not allow us to be tested beyond our ability to bear. The Lord will make a way of escape for us so that we will be able to bear it.

Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.

2 PETER 2:9

if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing their punishment.

1 CORINTHIANS 10:13

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
