Summary: Listed in the outline are a few things that are not For Sale. Items that have been bought and Paid for, and are no longer on the auction block

THINGS YOU CAN’T BUY

I Corinthians 6:19-20

Introduction;

The text tells us that a price has been paid.

That we have been purchased, a slave being purchased at the auction block in no longer his/her own, but to the one who has paid the highest cost.

We can look back into the Story of Hosea and Gommer, and see that Gommer had returned to her former lovers. And God sent Hosea back to town to get her. No matter what, just go get her. Hosea became the highest bidder for Gommer and then he taken possession of her again. Showing his unconditional love for her, in spite of all that I have done wrong, Christ shows us his unconditional love for us.

As we look here at the text (19) we can clearly see that we are no longer our own, but now we belong unto God.

The word “price” means….a set amount to be paid for such an item.

>Most items we purchase, we pay more then they are worth.

Look at a car, we pay 20,000 for it, and two (2) years later it’s worth 12-13,000.00

Items we pay full price for just a year ago, we are willing to sell for anything in a yard sale just to see it go………………………..**Yard sale bags stuffed for a 1.00**

>In total contrast, we were sold at a far above fair market value price.

A Price Higher then we were worth, greater then all animal sacrifices, or worldly possessions.

**Tigers that were just killed in San Francisco**

Hebrews 9:12 says…

Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

Jesus paid the HIGHEST price that could have been paid.

The Blood of Christ is far above fair market value.

Think about this….

Of all the wealth and riches untold of the Father, the cost for our souls was the blood of His own Son. God who owns it all, gave the payment, His only begotten Son.

~Who else could afford that?

~Who else could have paid that price?

~We are that valuable to Him.

>When the devil comes to tempt us, remind him that the price that has been paid, he can’t afford

you.

>Church I tell you today, we cost a lot, we are priceless!

~Do you remember the story in I Kings 21 of Naboth and his vineyard, and that Ahab wanted to

buy it from him. I Kings 21

Vv. 2-3 says…

And Ahab spake unto Naboth, saying, Give me thy vineyard, that I may have it for a garden of herbs, because it is near unto my house: and I will give thee for it a better vineyard than it; or, if it seem good to thee, I will give thee the worth of it in money.

And Naboth said to Ahab, The LORD forbid it me, that I should give the inheritance of my fathers unto thee.

>He is telling King Ahab “I’m Not For Sale”

Vv. 5-6 says…

But Jezebel his wife came to him, and said unto him, Why is thy spirit so sad, that thou eatest no bread? And he said unto her, Because I spake unto Naboth the Jezreelite, and said unto him, Give me thy vineyard for money; or else, if it please thee, I will give thee another vineyard for it: and he answered, I will not give thee my vineyard.

>He is telling both Ahab and Jezebel……..”I’m Not For Sale”

>We need to tell the devil plainly, we are Not For Sale

**Let’s look at some things that are not for sale**

1. THE CHURCH

Eaton’s Bible Dictionary says…

The word “church” is derived probably from the Greek kuriakon ("the Lord’s house")

I Timothy 3:14-16 says…

14 These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly: 15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. 16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

>Key verse here is #15

The Text refers to the Church as the…

1. The Household of God.

Ephesians 2:19-20 says…

Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

2. The Church or Assembly of the Living God.

3. The Pillar and Ground of Truth. Vv. 16

The Church is a SERVING place (Gal. 5:13-15)

The Church is a STEWARDSHIP place (Acts 2:41-42)

The Church is a SOULWINNING place (Rom. 1:16-17)

The Church is STRENGTHING place (Eph. 6:10)

The Church is a SAVING place (Acts 2:47)

**YOU CAN’T BUY THE CHURCH**

2. THE BLOOD

I Peter 1:18-19 says…

Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold…but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

~The Blood that was shed by Jesus Christ is eternal for all the sins of mankind!

>He didn’t do this of His own accord, but for the Father.

Webster’s calls the blood “the life source of the body”

~Without it we will surely die

~As a car can’t run without oil, we can not live without the blood.

For it is the blood that maketh atonement for the soul; the life of the victim for the life of the sinner. Lev. 17:1-16 (American Tract Society Dictionary)

~The apostle Paul, in his inspired epistle (Rom. 3:24-25);

~Peter, in his infallible writing (I Pet. 1:2) and

~John, in his inerrant script (I John. 1:7), all present the importance of the blood of Christ in

death as the atonement price for sin.

~Christ’s blood was SACRED blood

~Christ’s blood was SINLESS blood

~Christ’s blood is SHIELDING blood

~Christ’s blood was SUBSTITUTIONARY blood

~Christ’s blood was SUFFICIENT blood

(Pastor John Keeter; the Blood of Christ)

Hebrews 9:11-12 says….

But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; 12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

The key here is in verse 11…………”not with hands”

~You can’t get this blood at the blood bank, they don’t have it.

~You can’t get it down on the farm, the lambs, don’t have it.

~You can’t get it at K-Mart on a blue light special, they don’t have it.

~You can’t even get it at Super Wal-Mart, they don’t have it.

****You can only get this Blood through and by the Jesus Christ!****

**YOU CAN’T BUY THE BLOOD**

3. ME

I Corinthians 6:19b says… ye are not your own.

I’m like Naboth and his vineyard…..not for sale!

>I’ve already been bought and paid for by the Blood of Jesus.

>I’ve been taken off the auction block like Gommer.

>There are no more bids being made.

>The highest bidder has won the bid. “Barrett-Jackson”

>No one else can afford me.

Furthermore, you can’t buy something that is not for sale.

Did you know that the cost of our souls we can not put a value on

~The death of Christ is …

The record of the greatest sin that was ever committed; Acts 2:23

The manifestation of the greatest victory that was ever achieved; Heb. 2:14

The evidence of the greatest example we can ever imitate; Eph.5:2

The exhibition of the greatest love ever seen; Rom. 5:8

The highest price ever paid.

You remember the old song by

“Jesus Paid it all, all to him I owe, sin had left a crimson stain, Jesus washed me white as snow”

~There is nothing that we can do to the Work of Christ, He has done it all!

II Corinthians 9:15 says…

Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift.

~It took the Blood of Christ to pay for you and I, Christ’s blood alone paid it all.

~God was not happy with the sacrifices of the Old Testament, but He is well pleased with His

Son, for He said, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased”

**YOU CAN’T BUY ME**

**YOU CANT BUY THE CHURCH**

**YOU CANT BUY THE BLOOD**
