Summary: #1-{the judgment of sin,} this took place on the cross of Christ.

# 1- THE SEVEN JUDGMENTS JOHN 5:22-23 7-26-08

Today we’ll began a study on the 7 judgments we find in the Bible. Many of the lost people think that there’s only one judgment, “if there’s any judgment at all”.

And others might think that when they die that God will weigh their good deeds against their bad and the one that out weighs the other will determine where they will go, to heaven or to hell.

So I want us to see what the Bible says about it. We’ll try and talk about all 7 of these judgments and the order that their in, we may be here for a few broadcast so I hope you’ll try and listen to all of them.

The seven judgments are referred to as:

#1-{the judgment of sin,} this took place on the cross of Christ.

-#2- { self-judgment of our daily sins}, after we’re saved.

#3- {the judgment seat of Christ}, where all that are saved will be judged for our stewardship, our works after we were saved, this is just after the rapture of the Church}-

And #4-{-the judgment of Israel, Jacobs Trouble, Jer. 7:30}, “name-Gen.32:28--35:10” and this has to do with the Tribulation period.

-#5-{the judgment of the nations}, this takes place after Christ returns and has defeated His enemies at Armageddon, at the end of the 7 year Tribulation, but just prier of Him setting up His Kingdom, the 1000 year reign of Christ.

-#6-the judgment of the fallen angels}-

And #7 is of coarse, {the White Throne judgment}, this is when all the lost souls are brought out of hell and judged according to their wickedness, and according to the degree of their wickedness be tormented in the lake of fire, there’ll be different degrees of punishments for these lost people, that good neighbor most of us know, he died without ever being saved will go there. all are cast into the lake of fire, the morally good people** that never was saved, but died without Christ as their Savior will wind up in the lake of fire, the wicked people such as Hitler and all other extremely mean and wicked people will receive a more sever punishment, According to Rev.20: the record books will be opened as a testimony against these poor lost souls.} Rev.20: 12 & 15 12And I saw the dead, small and great, **stand before God; and the books were opened:** and another book was opened, which is the book of life:** and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.-- And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.**

Acts 10:34--that God is no respecter of persons:

We will try and talk about each of these judgments and the order in which they come as we study each of the 7 judgments.

JUDGMENT #1-- THE JUDGMENT OF SIN:

Listen as I read our text today found in John 5:

22For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: 23That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. --

The judgment of sin; the damning sin that sends people to hell, we find out where this sin originated in Rom.5:12 12Wherefore, as by one man** sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Jesus making a reference to His death on the cross said in John 12: 30-31 Jesus answered and said, 31Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. 32And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

This ONE sin has brought death to the entire human race, this sin calls for death by a Holy AND Righteous God, and it was this way in the O.T. as well as the N.T.

EZK.18:4 4Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

ROM.6: 23 For the wages of sin is death;

Rom. 5:8-9 8But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him-

Jesus Christ paid this terrible wage, “price” for all man kind on the cruel cross of Calvary, He didn’t have to pay it but He did, because He loves all mankind, God don’t want any one to go to hell and they don’t have to go, He has made it possible for all men the world over to be redeemed **and brought back into fellowship with Him, to be his child, a member of His Royal Family.

And let me say that He is the only One that could pay the sin debt because He was sinless.

Let me give us this little story to make that point.

~There was this poor mother with this little baby, the lady had no money at all and her baby was hungry, the desperate mother steals a quart of milk to feed her little baby and gets caught in the process, she’s brought before a kind judge, but the law must be enforced, so he finds the poor lady as little as possible, her fine was set at 5 dollars but it may as well had been 500 as she hath nothing to pay, The judge being a judge of compassion, stood up and stepped aside from his place of authority and took off his robe and laid it aside and paid the poor ladies penalty for her.~

And that’s exactly what the JUDGE of all the earth did for us, He laid aside His Robe in heaven and come down to this earth and paid our sin debt, because we certainly can’t pay it.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED WHEN JESUS WENT TO THE CROSS. WE HAVE BEEN INDICTED FOR OUR SINS AND FOUND GUILTY AS CHARGED. THE PENALTY IS DEATH (ROMANS 6:23), AND JESUS HAS PAID THE DEBT.

2nd Pet.3:9 --not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance--

God has done all that He’s going to do to save people, if people reject His Son then they’ll pay the wage them selves, a wage that they’ll never pay off, they’ll die forever and yet never die. All that’s listening to the program today will live some where forever, ether heaven or hell.

Because of what He did on the cross of Calvary in dying for the damning sin, “all will be drawn to Him” all will answer to Him. You and I that are saved will one day be with Him in heaven because we gladly and thankfully accept His payment for our sin in that He has become our Substitute.

The unsaved who scoffed and ignored what He did when He was lifted up on the cross as He died for the damning sin will give account for their sin at the 7th judgment, the white throne judgment.

ROM. 3:23 - 26 says 23For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

We’d be surprised to know the number of people that don’t understand the truth about “the judgment of sin”.

There is no man just apart from Him, all mankind are natural born sinners. All of us are born with this damning sin, we’ve inherited it from our parents and it goes all the way back to the parents of all man-kind, Gen.3:20 20And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

Ecclesiastes 7:20 20For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.

We’re talking about the “judgment of sin” today, in case you’ve just tuned in, there are 7 judgments that we find in the bible and we’re going to talk about each one and the order that they come in so I hope you’ll get to hear them all.

Let me say that there are many judgments in the bible but we’re talking about the 7 that people will be confronted with some day.

When a lost person realizes that he or she is a lost sinner and ask God to forgive him of his sins and receives Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour, then that person is saved, if we have to lift as much as one little finger to help save us then “works” has become involved, “works” has been added, or tried to add I should say. Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

You’ve heard me say before that Jesus didn’t make the down payment and expects us to keep up the installments on our salvation, no, He paid it all. Jesus said in JOHN 19:30-IT IS FINISHED.

2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

There’s people in hell right now that had good intentions, they were good neighbors and help feed the hunger and any number of good things you might think of and yet, they died with the damning sin still on their lives.

Lost people must accept and allow the death of Jesus as his or her Substitute, the sin debt will be paid by either Jesus or the lost sinner, Jesus has already died in every ones place but every one will not receive His payment for their sin, therefore they’ll die in their original sin.

1 Peter 2: 24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh,--

If people want to go to heaven when they die, or the rapture, they must trust Jesus Christ as their Saviour. If people trust any one or any thing else they’ll die in their sin and go to hell. Brother Brown that’s not a nice way to say it, I don’t know a nice way to say it.

There are two kinds of people who go to hell, those who do nothing and those who do every thing.

Our part is coming to Christ as repentant sinners that all we can do, He’ll do the rest. When Jesus Christ comes into our heart and life, His presents will have an effect on ever thing else in our lives.

We can’t trust our Church membership, or baptism or being a good neighbor, or our feelings or some experience we have had, nothing can take the place of trusting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour.

2 Corinthians 5: 17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Did you know that since I’ve been saved I drank all the beer and liquor I want to?

But the fact is, I don’t want to. He’ll change your want to.

We’re talking about the ‘judgment of sin” today, it’ll be a happy day when many saved people get an understanding of the “judgment of sin”, sin was judged on the cross of Calvary, the damning sin has been done away with to all that will receive His payment for their sin.

Let me give us this illustration of the sin being burned out.

Get the picture in your mind of this old cowboy on his old faithful horse and their on their journey across a great open plain, nothing but old sage brush and tumble weeds as far as he can see, and then suddenly he sees a big fire that’s been started by lighting and its coming swiftly in their direction, there’s no place he and his old horse can run too to get in a safe place, so he gets down off of his horse and sets a fire him self and as the fire starts burning towards the Hugh blazes that’s surely going to soon be on them, the old cow boy and his horse step over into the place that’s already been burned out, he knows that it can’t be burned again.

That a picture of our sin debt being taken care of, it can’t be burned again, we’re safe in Jesus Christ because He took away our damning sin once and forever.

Gods wrath has already strck at Calvary, and if we’ve already died in Jesus we’ll not have to die again.

Hebrews 9:26-28-- but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. 27And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: 28So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

Hebrews 10: 12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

Jesus Christ is now seated in heaven once more, and the reason He’s seated is because His work is finished, there’s nothing else to be done, He has paid the SIN debt, sin was judged on the Cross of Christ and so the judgment of sin is over.
