THE ANOINTING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT!

This outline points out how much we need the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. It also deals with some of the works of the spirit in our lives. We do not have to face the trials of life on our own. He will help us. If you have the Holy Spirit on the inside, you can stand any kind of battle on the outside.

I) LAST DAY OUTPOURING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT WAS PROPHESIED BY PROPHET JOEL

Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my

spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall

prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men

shall see visions:

Joel 2:29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those

days will I pour out my spirit.

Joel 2:30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth,

blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.

Joel 2:31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into

blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD

come.

Joel 2:32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the

name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in

Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in

the remnant whom the LORD shall call. (KJV)

II) IT WAS REPEATED A SECOND TIME IN THE NEW TESTEMENT AFTER JESUS GAVE THEM A COMMAND TO WAIT ON THE HOLY SPIRIT.

Acts 1:4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that

they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the

promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

Acts 1:5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized

with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. (KJV)

Acts 2:16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; (KJV)

Acts 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will

pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your

daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see

visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: (KJV)

Acts 2:18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in

those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: (KJV)

Acts 2:19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the

earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: (KJV)

Acts 2:20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into

blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:

Acts 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the

name of the Lord shall be saved. (KJV)

III) JESUS IS THE ANOINTING AS HE LIVES WITHIN US.

We are the temples of the Holy Spirit. The Christian’s heart is the Holy Spirit’s home.

1 John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in

you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the

same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth,

and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall

abide in him. (KJV)

John 7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and

cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and

drink.

John 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of

his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (KJV)

IV) THE HOLY SPIRIT IS OUR CONFORTER LEADING US INTO ALL TRUTH.

John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another

Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; (KJV)

John 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive,

because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know

him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. (KJV)

A. He is our teacher and He brings His Word back to us.

B. God does not fill with his Holy Spirit those who believe in the fullness of the Spirit, or those who desire him, but those who obey him.

John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father

will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and

bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said

unto you. (KJV)

V) THE ANOINTING IS NOT OF THIS WORLD.

The world cannot receive this anointing of the Holy Spirit.

1 Cor 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the

spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that

are freely given to us of God. (KJV)

1 Cor 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s

wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth;

comparing spiritual things with spiritual. (KJV)

A. The anointing of the Holy Spirit brings power through the Word.

1 Cor 2:4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: (KJV)

VI) THE ANOINTING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT HELPS US DO THE COMMISSION OF JESUS TO EVANGELISE THE WORLD!

Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed

me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal

the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and

recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that

are bruised, (KJV)

Luke 4:19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. (KJV)

VII) THE ANOINTING WILL DESTROY THE WORKS OF THE DEVIL...

Isaiah 10:27 And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden

shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke

from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because

of the anointing. (KJV)

A) THE ANOINTING DOES NOT BREAK BUT DISTROYS THE BONDAGE OF THE DEVIL.

Isaiah 58:5 Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to

afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush,

and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call

this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD? (KJV)

Isaiah 58:6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands

of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the

oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? (KJV)

Isaiah 58:7 Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou

bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou

seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide

not thyself from thine own flesh? (KJV)

Isaiah 58:8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine

health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward. (KJV)

B) WE CAN BREAK THE YOKE WITH PRAYER AND FASTING.

1) PRAYER AND FASTING CAN BRING THE LIGHT AND HEALING FOUND IN HIS WORD.

C) SOMETHING BROKEN CAN BE REPAIRED, THE ANOINTING DISTROYS, IT CAN NEVER BE PUT BACK TOGETHER.

1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil

sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God

was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the

devil.

John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to

destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they

might have it more abundantly. (KJV)

Breathe on me, breath of God;

Fill me with life anew,

That I may love what thou dost love,

And do what thou wouldst do.
