Summary: Prayer, & faith. Believing in the one who can. Not us but Him!

Speak To Your Mountain

Mark 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

It could be said like this for you ho need help in understanding.

"For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will come to pass, he will have whatever he says.

1."Talk to mountains? Do you think I’m crazy?"

Jesus talked to things, & taught that "whoever" could also speak to mountains.

A mountain is primarily any obstacle that stands in your way.

We are faced with obstacles in our lives. Most Christians pray to God. But Jesus told us to speak directly to the obstacle & tell it to be removed.

There is nothing wrong with discussing things with God. You should. But when something is blocking your progress.

Jesus said YOU should tell it to get out of the way.

Most Christians just speak to God about the mountain. Instead of following Jesus ’ directions & speaking directly to the mountain.

Are you just talking to God about the problems in your life. Tell the Devil to get lost.

Instead of talking directly to the problems & telling them to be removed?

Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Again in English so we can understand.

So Jesus said to them, "Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, `Move from here to there,’ & it will move; & nothing will be impossible for you.

We forget that with God nothing is impossible. Genesis 18:14a Is any thing too hard for the LORD? …

Who ever thought that man could walk on water out side Jesus. Peter did. Why? Because he believed he could with the power of the Lord.

Matthew 14:28-29 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

According to Jesus! Unbelief keeps us from speaking to our mountains.

What is the mountain in your life? What stands in the way of your progress? What holds you back from going forward & fulfilling God’s plan?

Speak God’s Word to that mountain!

Speak to the devil & his forces. Hey tell them to get out of your affairs. Just do it Jesus’ name & not your own.

Speak to sickness & tell it that it can’t stay in your body.

Speak to debt & financial lack. Tell them to be removed from your life.

Speak to doubt, fear, & worry. Tell them to be gone.

If you say, "I just can’t believe it would do any good for me to talk to problems," That’s why you still have them.

Read what Jesus said again, & again.

We forget that we are the children of God. We must believe in Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

I will speak to the mountains that try to hold me back. Matthew 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. Mark 9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

2.WHEN YOU SPEAK, GOD HEARS

A daddy was listening to his child say his prayer “Dear Harold.” At this, dad interrupted & said, “Wait a minute, “How come you called God, “Harold”? The little boy looked up and said, “That’s what they call Him in church. You know the prayer we say, “Our Father, who art in Heaven, Harold be Thy name.” Those who pray keep alive the watch fires of faith. For the most part we don’t even know their names. Such is the case of someone who prayed on a day long ago. His name is not important. He is important not because of who he was. But because of what he did.

He went to Jesus on behalf of a friend. His friend was sick, & Jesus could help. Someone needed to go to Jesus, & so someone went.

Others cared for the sick man in other ways. Some brought food; & others provided treatment. Still others comforted the family. Each role was crucial. Each person was helpful. No one was more vital than the one who went to Jesus.

John writes: "So Mary & Martha sent *someone* to tell Jesus. ’Lord, the one you love is sick’" John 11:3,

Someone carried the request. Someone walked the trail. Someone went to Jesus on behalf of Lazarus. Because someone went. Jesus responded. James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

In the economy of heaven. The prayers of saints are a valued commodity. John the apostle would agree. He wrote the story of Lazarus & was careful to show the sequence: The healing began when the request was made.

The phrase the friend of Lazarus used is worth noting. When he told Jesus of the illness, he said, "The one you love is sick." The power of the prayer, in other words. Does not depend on the one who makes the prayer. But on the one who hears the prayer.

We can & must repeat the phrase in manifold ways. "The one you love is tired, sad, hungry, lonely, fearful, & depressed." The words of the prayer may vary. But the response never changes. The Savior hears the prayer. He silences heaven so he won’t miss a word. The Master heard the request. Jesus stopped whatever he was doing. He took note of the man’s words. This anonymous courier was heard by God.

John’s message is critical.

You can talk to God because God listens. Your voice matters in heaven. He takes you very seriously. When you enter his presence, the attendants turn to you to hear your voice. No need to fear that you will be ignored. Even if you stammer or stumble. Even if what you have to say impresses no one. It impresses God & he listens.

He listens Intently, & very Carefully. The prayers are honored as precious jewels. Purified & empowered, the words rise in a delightful fragrance to our Lord. "The smoke from the incense went up from the angel’s hand to God" Rev. 8:4 Incredible is it not. Your words do not stop until they reach the very throne of God.

One call & heaven’s fleet appears. Your prayer on earth activates God’s power in heaven. You are the someone of God’s kingdom. Your prayers move God to change the world. You may not understand the mystery of prayer. You don’t need to.

But this much is clear: Actions in heaven begin when someone prays on earth. What an amazing thought! When you speak, Jesus hears.

When Jesus hears, the world is changed.

All because someone prayed.

Ask & You Shall Receive

A little boy was spending his Saturday morning playing in his sandbox. He had with him his box of cars & trucks, his plastic pail, & a shiny, red plastic shovel. In the process of creating roads & tunnels in the soft sand. He discovered a large rock in the middle of the sandbox. The lad dug around the rock, managing to dislodge it from the dirt. With no little bit of struggle. He pushed & nudged the rock across the sandbox by using his feet. (He was a very small boy & the rock was very huge.)

When the boy got the rock to the edge of the sandbox. He found that he couldn’t roll it up & over the little wall.. Determined, the little boy shoved, pushed, & pried. But every time he thought he had made some progress. The rock tipped & fell back into the sandbox. The little boy grunted, struggled, pushed, & shoved. His only reward was to have the rock roll back, smashing his fingers. Finally he burst into tears of frustration. All this time the boy’s father watched from his living room window as the drama unfolded. At the moment the tears fell, a large shadow fell across the boy & the sandbox.

It was the boy’s father. Gently but firmly he said, “Son, why didn’t you use all the strength that you had available?” Defeated, the boy sobbed back, “But I did, Daddy, I did! I used all the strength that I had! “No, son,” corrected the father kindly. “You didn’t use all the strength you had. You didn’t ask me.”

With that the father reached down. He picked up the rock, & removed it from the sandbox.

Sounds like a lot of here today. We use all of our strength. Instead of calling on the one it can take care of it all.

The altar is now open for business.
