Summary: The record proclaims that Caleb, because of his faith in God, took possession of his mountain, and he expelled some of the greatest of the giants. It is time we take back our mountains.

Taking This Mountain

Joshua 14:6-15

6 Then the children of Judah came unto Joshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite said unto him, Thou knowest the thing that the LORD said unto Moses the man of God concerning me and thee in Kadeshbarnea.

7 Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadeshbarnea to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart.

8 Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the LORD my God.

9 And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children’s for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the LORD my God.

10 And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the LORD spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.

11 As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.

12 Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said.

13 And Joshua blessed him, and gave unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh Hebron for an inheritance.

14 Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite unto this day, because that he wholly followed the LORD God of Israel.

15 And the name of Hebron before was Kirjatharba; which Arba was a great man among the Anakims. And the land had rest from war.

I have entitled ths today: “Taking This Mountain”.

Caleb was a man who was in the presence of Moses.

He was a man who was totally committed to serving the Lord.

Whatever was wanted or needed of him, he was a servant who was willing to do a work for the Lord.

We need more Calebs in the church world; we need to be sold out to whatever the Lord wants us to do.

Joshua 14:10-11

10 And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the LORD spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.

11 As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.

Caleb, at this time, was 85 years old, but yet he was as strong as he was when Moses sent him.

Even though he was older, he was still in condition to fight the enemies as they would come against him.

Some of us might be older but understand this… you are still a warrior and God will give you strength to stand in the battles that you go through.

Some think when they get older that God no longer uses them, that’s not true. God will use you as long as you are a willing vessel.

Out of all of this, Caleb’s faith shines like the sun, he was a Divine faith, and such faith overcomes the world.

When the enemy comes aginst you like a flood, understand that God will raise up a standard against him.

The Lord will raise up a marker aginst him and he cannot prevail because that marker is the Blood of Jesus Christ.

Stand firm in your faith and you will not grow weary, but you will mount up with wings as an eagle.

You will run and not grow weary.

Joshua 14:12

12 whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said.

I have entitled this today: “Taking This Mountain”.

Splashing of the water, from a mountain side 10-22-05

I dreamed Susan and I were setting at a mountain side. It was beautiful. We looked toward the middle of the mountain and there was a big gush of water coming between all of the trees on the side of the mountain. There was some kind of lake below us. I knew that God was doing something. I told Susan the reason this was happening was because it was going to rain. As soon as I said it, I literally felt the splashing of the water as it hit the water below and splashed in our faces.

Interpretation

Now therefore give me this mountain,

In the dream I knew that God was doing something.

I knew that it was going to rain.

In the dream I literally felt the splash of water, which woke me up.

Lord, give me this mountain. God, no matter what, I am going to wholly serve you.

Williams says about Joshua 14:12.

Giant sins entranced on strong mountains are helpless before a faith that is born of God.

This fact may be experienced by any and all believers if they will wholly follow the Lord as Caleb had done.

According to verse 13, Joshua blessed him and gave him Hebron as an inheritence.

Joshua, who represents Jesus as our High Priest, He is the one who is able to give us our inheritence in the Lord if we wholly follow God.

How many want their mountain?

We have to be willing to take our mountain and we do this by giving all of ourself to following Christ.

Mr 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Do we have probvlems that we can’t seem to deal with?

Speak to your mountain and tell it to be removed and cast into the sea.

Eph 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

In Christ, we have received an inheritance. Our inheritance has been predestined according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

Col 3:24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

Church, it is time to take our mountain!

It is time to serve the Lord with all of our heart and with all of our minds and watch God move in the situations that we are going through.

Seek God and believe that His Word is for you.

Reach out and grab hold of what He has spoken and don’t let go at any cost.

Take your mountain by storm and understand that the rain is coming your way.

It is God ordained that you should receive what He has for you.

Ho 6:3 Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.

Joe 2:23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.

The rain is now falling, reach out your hands and you will feel His rain as He gives it to you!

Joshua 14:13-15

13 And Joshua blessed him, and gave unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh Hebron for an inheritance.

14 Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite unto this day, because that he wholly followed the LORD God of Israel.

15 And the name of Hebron before was Kirjatharba; which Arba was a great man among the Anakims. And the land had rest from war.

The record proclaims that Caleb, because of his faith in God, took possession of this mountain, and he expelled some of the greatest of the giants, whose name was Arba.

The result was that Kirjath-arba-that is the city of Arba-became Hebron-that is fellowship.

That is what Hebron means, where there is true faith there is rest from war.

Are you claiming what God has already predestined?

Faith, believes that what has been predestined is already ours.

Speak it as if it is, because it is.

Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

The rain is here right now!

Lift up your hands and claim what has been predestined for you.

It is your choice if you receive what God has for you.

Doubt sees obstacles but faith sees the way!

The former rain modestly: in the Hebrew according to rightousness.

Mt 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Closing

Taking This Mountain!

Don’t you think it is about time?

Take back what Satan has been trying to steal from you.

It’s not his, it is your inheritance!
