Summary: We have a Covenant today. That Covenant is through Jesus Christ. If we are a people that will apply His Word to our life, then we will perservere in the situations that arise against us. If we don’t apply what His Word says, then we will be in trouble.

The Covenant

Exodus 19:5-6

5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:

6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

I have entitled this today: “The Covenant”

In the third month, when the children of Israel were gone forth of the land of Egypt they came to the wilderness of Sinai.

They had pitched camp in the wilderness; and there Israel camped before the mount.

Exodus 19:3 says that Moses went up unto God, and the Lord called unto him out of the mountain.

God has always been a God of Revelation; He has always been a God who will commune with His people.

Mt 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

Re 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Moses was a man who was going to listen and do whatever the Lord spoke to him, he was obedient to the Word of God.

God works through vessels that will be obedient to what He says to do.

The Lord spoke to Moses in the Mount and said, thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel; Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles’ wings, and brought you unto myself.

What this is speaking of is a salvation wholly of God.

God was telling Moses to remind the people of Israel what He has already done, how He delivered them out of Egypt, and brought them to where it was that He wanted them.

God wanted all of the people and He knew that He had a work to do on their hearts.

The Children of Israel was out of Egypt, but Egypt was still in them.

They had to go through the desert to become separated from the things Egypt had.

They still longed for Egypt. Church, we can not long for this world and what it has to offer. We need to wholly follow the Lord and let Him cleanse us from Egypt.

Now look at Exodus 9:5

5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:

In 1 Samuel chapter 15 Saul was told to go and wioe out Amalek, he was told exactly what to do.

1Sa 15:3 Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.

In 1 Samuel 15, we have 2 different guys’ personalities.

The first guy was Saul, who was the first king of Israel.

There was also Samuel, the prophet.

The word of God came to Samuel to tell Saul to utterly destroy Amelek,

and to kill every thing.

Saul attacked Amelek.

He spared the king.

Trophy!

He saved the finest of the livestalk.

People were probably saying what a great king they had.

He saved the best animals so they could sacrifice them to Jehovah.

Verse 9:

But Saul and the people spared Agag and the best of the sheep, the oxen, the fatlings, the lambs, and all that was good, and were not willing to destroy them utterly; but everything despised and worthless, that they utterly destroyed.

He did 99.9 percent of what he was told to do.

Partial obedience is not obedience at all.

Saul ran out and told Samuel he did what God told him to do.

He was deceiving himself.

James 1:22

22. But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.

Have you ever done something wrong and felt guilty?

Maybe you talked about a leader, and defended what you said by saying you are right..

You felt guilty.

You did the same thing and you felt guilty, but not as much.

This continued and then you didn’t feel guilty at all.

That’s how Saul was, He had disobeyed.

He had done it over and over.

He might even have felt what he was doing was right.

God sent a prophet to reveal his sin.

Samuel confronted Saul.

Saul blamed the people.

Samuel drove him with the word.

1 Samuel 15:22-23 (NAS)

22. Samuel said, “Has the lord as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the lord? Behold to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.

23. For rebellion is as the sin of divination,

and insubordination is as iniquity and idolatry.

Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also rejected you from being king.”

Saul now had an evil spirit around him, it was a controlling spirit.

If you would have told him when he was younger that he would kill 85 Priests of God, He would have told you that you were crazy.

He opened the door through disobedience

.

Galatians: 3:1 (NAS)

1. You foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed or crucified.

We get bewitched by deceit.

No witch can put a curse on me if I’m obedient to God.

If I’m not, I open up doors where the enemy can work.

How many know God doesn’t give suggestions?

Hebrews 10:25 (NAS)

25. Not forsaking our own assembling together, as the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day drawing near.

We are sheep that are to know the voice of Jesus and none other are we to follow.

Church, we have a Covenant today.

That Covenant is through Jesus Christ.

If we are a people that will apply His Word to our life, then we will perservere in the situations that arise against us.

If we don’t apply what His Word says, then we will be in trouble.

Saul did 99% of what might have been right, but 1% disobedience led to his destruction.

4-29-06

Dream or Vision I don’t know.

I saw Jesus; I remember His face features, brownish beard and hair. He told me that He couldn’t do some things for certain people because of willful disobedience.

This does not need an interpretation.

Willful disobedience is sin, and God cannot bless sin of any kind.

2Ch 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

We need to turn away from our wicked ways!

God has made a Covenant with you. If you ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins and come into your heart, He will.

That’s a promise that you can take to the bank!

Hebrews 8:6-13

6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.

8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.

10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

The New Covenant in Jesus Blood is superior and takes the place of the Old Covenant in animal blood.

Look closely at verse 10

10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

The old Covenant had run its course, which it did until the time of the cross.

I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

Proclaims in an abbreviated fact of what the New Covenant would do because the sin debt was paid by Christ on the Cross, which made it possible for the Holy Spirit to abide forever in our hearts and lives of believers.

John 14:16-17

16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Hebrews 6:12-13

12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

Closing

All because of the Covenant!

Forgiven sins are to be remembered no more!
