Summary: This is a Sunday School series that challenges teens to be committed to Christ, them selves, and to other relationships.

I. What is Commitment?

a. Definition – a pledge or a promise; obligation.

b. How the Bible defines Commitment

i. Commitment to Christ must be complete – Luke 9:23-25

1. What does it mean to “take up your cross?” -

2. Don’t Compromise your commitment to Christ

3. We have to even give Him the “secret” parts of our lives

ii. Commitment to Christ must be consistent – Joshua 24: 14-15

II. Why Jesus wants our Commitment

a. Because Christ committed Himself to us first – Romans 5:8

b. He wants to be number one in our lives – Mark 12:30

III. How to Commit to Christ

a. Deny Yourself

i. We are selfish by nature

ii. We need to be willing to give up EVERYTHING for Christ

b. Take up YOUR Cross

c. Follow Jesus

i. Commit everything to God – Colossians 3:17

1. Give God your speech and your actions

2. Always give God the glory for the accomplishments in your life

ii. Be “Thirsty” in your relationship with God – John 6:35

iii. Live the way Jesus wants you to live

IV. God’s Reward for our commitment

a. He will bless us – Psalm 37:5-6

b. We will have success in life – Proverbs 16:3
