ENCOURAGEMENT (Jumper Cable Sermon)
I Samuel 30: 1-6
HERE WE FIND DAVID IN A TERRIBLE TIME OF DISTRESS. THE AMALEKITES HAD INVADED THE SOUTH AND HAD SMITTEN ZIGLAG AND BURNED IT TO THE GROUND AND HAD TAKEN THEIR WIVES, THEIR DAUGHTERS AND THEIR SONS CAPTIVE.
V.4 - THEN DAVID AND THE PEOPLE THAT WERE WITH HIM LIFTED UP THEIR VOICE AND WEPT, UNTIL THEY HAD NO MORE POWER TO WEEP! --- V.6 - BUT DAVID ENCOURAGED HIMSELF IN THE LORD HIS GOD!
THERE ARE TIMES IN LIFE WHEN WE ALL GET DISCOURAGED!
WE CAN GET DISCOURAGED IN THE (WAY) - WE CAN GET DISCOURAGED IN THE (WORK) - WE CAN GET DISCOURAGED IN THE (WAR)
WHAT CAN WE DO WHEN WE GET DISCOURAGED? WELL, IT LIKE GOING TO YOUR CAR AND YOU GO TO START IT AND IT WILL NOT START BECAUSE THE BATTERY IS DEAD. SO WHAT DO YOU DO? YOU GET SOME JUMPER CABLES... AND YOU FIND A GOOD BATTERY AND YOU JOIN THE JUMPER CABLES TO THE GOOD BATTERY AND THIS ALLOWS YOU TO START YOUR CAR. -- WHEN WE GET DISCOURAGED.... WE NEED TO HOOK UP TO THE POWER SOURCE (THE CROSS) AND THIS WILL GIVE US THE BOOST OF ENCOURAGEMENT THAT WE NEED TO KEEP ON GOING FOR JESUS!
REMEMBER OUR SALVATION - (Plug up) Remember the day when Jesus saved us. Remember - When the Savior reached down for me... He had to reach way down for me... I was lost and undone without God or His Son... When he reached down his hand for me! PS. 40 – He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay and set my feet upon the rock, and established my goings, And hath put a new song in my mouth even praise unto our God! SONG – WHEN I THINK ABOUT THE LORD!
REMEMBER PAST VICTORIES - (Plug up) David Remember how he killed the lion, bear and slay Goliath. When you get discouraged remember your past victories and how God brought you through.
REMEMBER THE BLOOD CLEANSES FROM ALL SIN - (Plug Up) – The blood of Jesus cleanses from all sin – If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive our sins!
We have been made more than conquerors through the blood of Jesus! There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus….
REMEMBER GOD IS IN CONTROL – (Plug Up) ISA. 41:10 - Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. --- Rom. 8:28; I Cor. 10:13… NOT DISAPPOINTMENTS BUT HIS APPOINTMENTS! REMEMBER THAT NO MATTER WHAT WE WIN! LADIES AND GENTLEMEN I HAVE READ THE BACK OF THE BOOK AND WE WIN! Rev. 20: 2 & 3 - And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the bottomless pit, AND SHUT HIM UP… REMEMBER HEAVEN - II Cor. 5:1 - For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. HEAVEN WILL SURELY BE WORTH IT ALL!
