The Conquering Warrior

Revelation 19: 11-16

This passage is the last curtain call of human history. This is the beginning of Armageddon, the final battle.

John watches as heaven opens and reveals a glorious sight, a sight seldom thought of by people today.

v. 11 John sees a white horse and rider.

The rider of the white horse is called faithful and true. Who do you believe this rider is? __________________.

In ancient times, when a Roman general entered a city as the conqueror, he would ride in on a big white stallion to celebrate his victory.

This picture of Christ is greatly different from when we last saw Him riding in.

Let’s look at Mt. 21: 1-5. And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples, Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose [them], and bring [them] unto me. And if any [man] say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them.

All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.

Look at Zechariah 9: 9

“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, lowly and riding on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey.”

1. Jesus is called the faithful and true conqueror.

Faithful means that Jesus can be trusted. He said He would conquer and judge the world and He can be trusted to do so.

True means the opposite of false. His judgment will be absolutely true. He will judge the ungodly on their deeds and not on what those around them do. A person will reap exactly what they have sown, nothing more and nothing less.

2. Jesus is the righteous conqueror. Any person who does not measure up to the righteousness of Jesus Christ will be conquered, judged condemned based on where they come up short. Again their judgment is not based on what someone else does.

Mt. 16: 27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

Rev. 20: 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is [the book] of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Ps. 62: 12 Also unto thee, O Lord, [belongeth] mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work.

Jer. 17: 10 I the LORD search the heart, [I] try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, [and] according to the fruit of his doings.

v. 12 Jesus Christ will be the consuming Prince.

1. His eyes will be like fire. This is a symbol of the piercing and penetrating power that belongs to Jesus. He can see in the dark places, behind those closed doors. His eyes search the innermost places of the person.

Dan. 6: 10 His body also [was] like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.

Heb. 4: 13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things [are] naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

Jer. 17: 10 the LORD search the heart, [I] try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, [and] according to the fruit of his doings.

Jer. 23: 24 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD.

2. He is wearing many crowns. These crowns represent His authority and rule over all the kingdoms and He is coming to conquer all the kingdoms of the world.

3. He will have a name written somewhere on His clothing, that

No one knows everyone knows He alone knows

Ph. 2: 9-11 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth; And [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

v. 13 His robe is covered with blood and He is called “the Word of God”

The blood is the blood of His enemies and not His own redemptive blood. Jesus will destroy the enemies of God but He will do it in a spectacular way.

Jesus will use the very Word of God to defeat His enemies. He possesses the power of God’s word, in fact His very name here is “the Word of God.” All He will need to do is speak and the very power and energy of His Word will destroy the ungodly and evil of the world.

Isa. 63: 3 I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people [there was] none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment.

Isa. 11: 4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

Heb. 4: 12 For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

v. 14 Jesus will be leading His heavenly army.

Who are these soldiers of the heavenly army? Notice that they are clothed in fine white linen. This is the same clothing worn by the believers at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.

The army will include both Old and New Testament believers.

It will include all of the redeemed but it will also include the multitude of angels that Jesus said He would bring with Him when He returned.

Mt. 25:31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

2 Th. 1: 7-9 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

Jude 14-15 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard [speeches] which ungodly sinners have spoken against him

v. 15 Jesus is the fierce conqueror.

1. What is the weapon used by Jesus in this verse?

€ Blackhawk Helicopter € 50 caliber machine gun €sword that is coming out of His mouth

How can you command an army with a sword hanging out of your mouth?

The sword symbolizes the power of His spoken word.

Eph. 6: 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Heb. 4: 12 For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

2. Jesus will smite and rule the nations with a Rod of Iron.

Ps. 2: 9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.

Isa. 11: 4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

3. Jesus will execute the fierceness of the wrath of God, who is the Almighty.

v. 19 Jesus will be the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.

Ph. 2: 9-11 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth; And [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

1Tim. 6: 15 Which in his times he shall shew, [who is] the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;

1Tim. 6: 15 [NIV] which God will bring about in his own time-God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords,
