Summary: This is my Mother's Day Sermon for 2010.

“The Care of a Mother's Heart”

Text: Exodus 6:20

“And Amram took him Jochebed his father's sister to wife; and she bare him Aaron and Moses: and the years of the life of Amram were an hundred and thirty and seven years.”

Scripture Reading: Exodus 2:1-9

1And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a daughter of Levi.

2And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.

3And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river's brink.

4And his sister stood afar off, to wit what would be done to him.

5And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river's side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it.

6And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews' children.

7Then said his sister to Pharaoh's daughter, Shall I go and call to thee a nurse of the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for thee?

8And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, Go. And the maid went and called the child's mother.

9And Pharaoh's daughter said unto her, Take this child away, and nurse it for me, and I will give thee thy wages. And the women took the child, and nursed it.

Introduction:

Friday evening I heard a story of a 45 year old women who has now died from fighting the battle with AIDS. In her life time she had 10 abortions. While on her death bed her and her sister came a cross a Gaither's Homecoming video on TV. On that video The Collingsworth Family, say the song “ Jesus Is Still The Answer”. The song spoke to the woman's heart. Her sister got in contact with Kim Collingsworth and ask her if she would take the time to pray with her sister before she died. Kim talk to the woman and had pray with her. The woman died the next morning around 6:00 A.M. Through this the sister that is still alive has give her heart and life to Jesus.

I know that from this story I have just told you that you are wondering what does this have to do with the care of a Mother's Heart? It does not have any thing to do with it. It shows us a pictures of an uncaring mother's heart. You my be thinking well those ten children are better off at least they are in Heaven. That is a very true observation there, but it still does not make what the woman had done to them right. Abortion is murder. Murder is killing. An God's Word tells us that unnecessary killing is a sin. In-fact it is one of the Ten Commandments, “Thou Shalt not Kill.”

Our scripture reading this morning shows us the care of a true mother's heart. Her name was Jochebed. She was the mother of Miriam, Aaron, and Moses. Jochebed teaches some important lessons on having a caring Mother's heart.

1.A true caring mother puts her trust in Jehovah God and not man.

2.A true caring mother does everything in her power to keep her children safe.

3.A true caring mother teaches her children to trust in God.

4.A true caring mother prays for her children.
