Luke 22:1-23

'His Body Given for Us'

All through the old testament, We see the indication and prophesy of the coming Messiah. The one who is to come as promised by God the Father.

We are familiar with the passage from John 3.16 that God LOVED us so much he sent his son.

It seems that the whole bible is built around the word Love. But I think it is just that, and more.

You see, we were commanded to LOVE THE LORD OUR GOD

And love our neighbor as ourselves.

God loved us. How could he possibly show his love for us…give us good gifts? James tells us that every good and perfect gift comes from the Father of Light., with whom there is no shadow of turning

BETRAYED – don’t take communion, if you are not a follower of Christ.

To do so, is no different than Judas, who is the one who betrayed Jesus. Don’t call yourself a friend of Christ, if you really are not.

Last night, the kids program had 4 envelopes. There were two questions that were asked.

How do you respond?

What Next?

I ask you tonight. When you hear the message of the Gospel

When you hear that God loves us, but our sinfulness sets us apart from him. Separates us.

When you hear that God demanded a sacrifice throughout all old testament history, and it had to be done daily, because an animal, was only a temporary sacrifice.

When you hear or read the prophecy of the Christ, the Messiah, as John the Baptist spoke of him, The Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. HOW DO YOU RESPOND?

Do you believe it in your heart?

Do you receive it?

How do you respond?

1. Accept God’s Plan of Salvation

John 3:16

16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

2. Believe in your heart

Romans 10.8-13

8But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

11For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

12For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

13For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

3. Confess your Sins

Romans 10.10 “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

1 John 1.9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

4. Live Breathe DO, what God’s word says.

James 1.22-25

22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

Jesus came to this earth to show us how to live

1 John 2:5-6 NLT

5 But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him. 6 Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.
