ARE YOU ABLE TO STAND
Rev. 6:17For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
There a number of people who will not be able to stand.
1. Not the sinner
Psalms 130 :3If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?
The sinner will shrink
The sinner will try to hide
2. Not the Hypocrite
Isaiah 33:14The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?
Surprise will have them full of fear
Double life has caught them
Their ways were wrong
Caught empty handed
3.Not the proud
Jer. 48:42And Moab shall be destroyed from being a people, because he hath magnified himself against the LORD.
43Fear, and the pit, and the snare, shall be upon thee, O inhabitant of Moab, saith the LORD.
44He that fleeth from the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that getteth up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for I will bring upon it, even upon Moab, the year of their visitation, saith the LORD.
They will flee
Run to hide from the Lord
They will hang their head in shame
4. Not the rich
Rev. 6:15And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
16And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
He will quail
Run hide
Want death
The wrath of God is on them
5. Only the Christian
Romans 14:4Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.
Christ is holding him up
The strong hand of the master
He can stand when no other can
