Conceptions- A God Thing Matthew 1: 18-23
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. 19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. 20 But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.”
22 So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: 23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”
We understand because of this miracle conception the destiny of mankind would be altered forever. We also realize this was a God thing, and this God thing brought spiritual and physical manifestations then and now. Through out the ages, time and time again God has brought a way of deliverance for His people.
The garden of Eden, Noah and the Ark, Joseph and the Hebrews, Moses and the Red Sea, Joshua and the River Jordan, Elijah and the widow, Elisha brought double the miracles, Gideon’s self-esteem, David and Goliath, Solomon’s wisdom, Isaiah, Hosea etc.
On and on we could go. Therefore, God bringing a miracle birth through Mary is just another proof. (The greatest proof though.) But now you!
Through Mary’s conception, we can actually see similarities in our own Spiritual conception.
Just as with Mary, God only brings Spiritual conception in those who believe. Mary was found with child, but we have the very Christ living within our being. Just as Joseph was convinced, that which is conceived in us is of the Holy Spirit. Mary brought forth a Son, you are called His Son’s and daughters, and you are to produce Spiritual offspring. Because of Mary’s obedience you and I house Immanuel, “God with us.”
Listen to Paul’s teaching on this matter. 1 Corinthians 3:16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you.
Again, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20NKJ Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Colossians 1:26-27 the mystery, which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now, has been revealed to His saints. 27 To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
Some things you need to ask God:
*Lord, do You like Your living conditions?
*How is the atmosphere in my house?
*Is there enough light?
*Am I feeding You enough?
Paul pointed out over and over again, that believers could live in His presence, because we house His seed.
1. Seed of godliness
2. Seed of greatness
3. Seed of Life
4. Seed of strength
5. Seed of love
6. Seed of His Spirit
Is the seed germinating?
Are the roots deep?
Is there new growth?
You were created to bring conceptions.
