Summary: Growing your heart in Christ. This outline was helped by Steven Andrews series on Guarding your Heart.

"Fate has chosen him; The Fellowship will protect him; Evil will hunt them!" (The Fellowship of the Ring)

"We are not wrestling against flesh and blood! The enemy is a spiritual foe, and the battle is a spiritual battle." Dr. Adrian Rogers

THE BATTLE FOR THE HEART:

1. RECOGNIZE THE ADVERSARY! Luke 10:18 "Jesus replied, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven." (NIV)

2 Corinthians 4:18 "So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." (NIV)

"To live in ignorance of spiritual warfare is the most naïve and dangerous thing a person can do." John Eldredge

SATAN is:

A liar a thief

An accuser of the brethren a murderer

A lion that devours, a deceptive angel of light

Author of confusion false teacher

An enemy of the cross

2. BELIEVER'S MUST STAND WITH AUTHORITY! Luke 10:19 "I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you." (NIV)

There is a difference between the authority and power.

Luke 10:20 "However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven." (NIV)

Question: How do we wage war against Satan and his demons?

2 Corinthians 10:3-4 "For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds." (NIV)

3. BELIEVER'S MUST SURRENDER OUR ABILITY! Luke 10:21 "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure." (NIV)

1 Corinthians 1:27 "But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong." (NIV)

The key word to following Christ is surrender!

Question: Will you surrender to Christ today?
