Summary: You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet

You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet

1 Corinthians 2:1-9

1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.

2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.

4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:

5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:

7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

Our God is a God that is full of secrets and surprises.

The revelation of himself has been progressive and gradual down through the centuries of time.

Isaiah 28:13

13 But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

He has gradually revealed himself to His people a little bit of a time.

I don’t know about you but the more I find out about Him the more I realize remains to be discovered.

Even some great men of God, is still constantly learning more and more about Him every day

Paul said in Romans 11:33

Romans 11:33

33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

This doesn’t mean you can’t learn about Him, but it does mean that you’ll never STOP learning about Him.

Even some of the greatest men that preach this Gospel, don’t know all there is to know about Him.

There are some stars in the universe that are many times larger than the sun that is many times larger than the planet earth.

Yet it’s so far out in space that it appears as a tiny point of light.

You can’t judge any point of light and judge from that little speck its awesome size and power and its tremendous amount of power it’s releasing.

A child my look up into the nights sky, squint their eyes, this is how that child might interpret what they are looking at. They may begin to sing “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.” Yet if you took that same child anywhere near where that star is where they could see just how big that star really is, they would no longer sing “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.” But they would realize it’s not a tiny point of light, but something that is so awesome and so great that it is indescribable.

Just like that star, we serve an:

1. Awesome God

2. Mighty God

3. Great God

4. Indescribable God

He is bigger than anything that we can imagine. We don’t serve a pint-sized God, my God fills the universe.

We have only begun to scratch the surface of His tremendous power and strength.

And when we think we have figured Him out, He is capable of working in way we have never seen before.

In Isaiah 43:19, God said:

Isaiah 43:19

19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

This tells me that God is not limited to only what He has done before and what He has done in the past. If He wants to, He can do something that He’s never done before.

He can perform a work, He has never performed before.

He is not restricted to what we know what He has done before.

The Bible says in Psalms 150:3 to praise him according to his mighty acts but He has some acts that He hasn’t performed yet.

Consider with me for a little bit what He has done in the past.

Think about His creative works; the sun, moon, stars, solar system and galaxies that we have already mentioned.

The Bible says that he spread these creations out like a curtain.

Psalms 104:2

2 Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:

He created billions of massive and celestial bodies and then scattered them out so far that some of them we can’t see with our naked eye. Only He can enjoy them.

But do you know why He did that? Because he could!!! Because He got power and energy spare. He’s got awesome ability in reserve. He can make galaxies and spin them out there and when He’s done He didn’t even work up a sweat.

Everything that is in this world, He has made it.

Every foul in the air from a hummingbird to an eagle, He made it. He made every fish in the sea from a minnow to a mammoth whale, He made. Every reptile from a snake to an alligator, He made it. Every beast of the field from a gazelle to an elephant, He made it.

He made every plant, every tree, every flower, every mountain, every hill, every stream, and every ocean.

The point I’m trying to get across is that everything He made in the creative process He did it for the very first time. It had never been done before. But the Master Architect envisioned it and then He designed it and then He made it. He didn’t have to consult a “How-To” manual; He didn’t have to rummage through any old blueprints or even have to read any idiots guides on how to create a world or creation. God did it all by Himself.

Everything is 100% God’s creation.

All this has kept scientists busy for hundreds and thousands of years and they can’t figure it out.

Scientists can create all the telescopes, microscopes and anything else they want to create but when they do research all they find is more, more, more.

When God had done all of that, He still didn’t exhaust His power any. He didn’t do everything He could do. He didn’t say “I’m done, I’m through. I can’t improve on that.”

You don’t have to read but 6 chapters in the book of Genesis before you find that God got put out this creation, this mankind He had made and purposely destroyed them but “Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.”

Genesis 6:8

8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

So He gave him a design to build an ark. God told Him I’m going to destroy ALL flesh, man and beast. If God wants to, He can make it, He can wipe it out, and start all over again.

The Bible said it didn’t just rain, but the fountain of the great deep was broken up.

Genesis 7:11

11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened

The Bible says about Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet. God told Noah to build an ark because you ain’t seen nothing yet.

The Bible says that the water reached to the top cover to the top of the highest mountain. Scientist says it’s impossible, but I put my faith and trust in the Word of God.

Scientist still say that we come from monkeys. That’s how crazy they are. But we know in the Bible that we are created in the image of the awesome and mighty God.

Genesis 1:27

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

If you can’t believe the opening statement in the Bible (which is Genesis 1:1), then you might as well shut your Bible and put it away, because it gets more complicated after that. I choose to believe that God made the heavens and the earth.

He spoke to Moses out of the burning bush in Exodus 3:14, “I AM THAT I AM,” not I was, I became, I evolved, I will be, but just simply “I AM THAT I AM.”

You could go to the highest mountain and ask God “Are you here?” and He’ll say “I am!” You could go to the lost depths of the sea and ask God if He’s there and He’ll say “I am!”

God told Moses to tell Pharaoh to “let my people go.” Moses was a little unsure about that. God had to twist his arm but finally he walked into Pharaohs court. And he said “I’m here to tell you that GOD say let my people go.” I can just see Pharaoh sitting all high and mighty on his throne and he had to ask the dumbest question any man could ever ask. He said

Exodus 5:2

2 And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go.

And the Lord said “Step aside Moses, I’m about to introduce myself to him.”

Ten mighty plagues, as the world has never seen and Pharaoh said “Go, take your children, take your wives, take your beast, take everything you have and go. There is no God like our God!”

Out in the wilderness they didn’t have any grocery stores to by food from. They weren’t going to go through any fields where food was being grown. They were going through hot, arid, dry land. But that wasn’t any problem for God. He just opened up the windows of heaven and poured out manna for them to eat. And everyday, just like snow, it poured out manna from heaven.

Psalms 78:25

25 Man did eat angels' food: he sent them meat to the full.

All they had to do was go out and scoop it up and eat it.

Then they got tired of that and longed for some meat to eat. The God told Moses tell the people that I’m going to give them some meat to eat.

Exodus 16:11-13

11 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

12 I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God.

13 And it came to pass, that at even the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the host.

About that time a cloud of quail came by low enough, that they could club them down. If God could do that back then, He can do it again.

We can talk about Joshua and the sun and moon standing still.

Joshua 10:14

14 And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.

God altered the forces and the physics of the very nature and universe that He had instilled. They measure time today. Atomic clocks are set by the stars. That’s how precise it is. But God said this once I’m going to put the brakes on everything. Because one of my men down there saying “Sun stand still and moon don’t you go down till I’m finished with the job that God wants me to do!”

I don’t care what the laws of nature are; God can alter them because He made it in order for us to do the job that God wants us to do.

The greatest new thing that God did that you can find is God speaking to Ahaz in Isaiah 7. Ahaz was in great trouble because the enemy was harassing him. God sent the Prophet, Isaiah, to let him know “I’m going to help you, I’m going to deliver you. Ask of me a sign.”

Isaiah 7:10-12

10 Moreover the LORD spake again unto Ahaz, saying,

11 Ask thee a sign of the LORD thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.

12 But Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the LORD.

And God said:

Isaiah 7:14

14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Which being interpreted means “God With Us.” Something’s about to happen that ain’t ever happened before. And when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His son of a woman. An angel drifts down out of heaven into the chamber of a young virgin girl and said:

Luke 1:28-31

28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

Jesus slipped off His regal and royal robes, and put on the robe of flesh, came and dwelt among us. He came as a little baby and grew up among us. And God, who is Awesome and Great and Powerful, put Himself into a position to have to learn something’s that He did not know before.

One of the things He learned was obedience. The other thing was He put Himself into a position to taste death. God put Himself into a position where He had to experience what death was like. But in the mean time, this world saw miracles on a scale that they had never seen before. Jesus told those followers of John the Baptist to go back and tell him that the blind is seeing, the dumb are talking, the deaf are hearing, the lame are walking.

He walked on the water; He raised people from the dead. That’s the God I’m talking about.

When it was time, this King, robed in flesh, went to Calvary, and there He died. But He gave death a four point ultimatum. He said:

1. No man takes my life from me. I lay it down of myself.

2. There will be no bones broken in this body.

3. The skin worms shall not touch my body.

4. When I get ready, I’ll take it back up!

And in the first time in history, a man went into the grave, and came out under His own power. But He still wasn’t done. He gathered His disciples together and said:

Luke 24:49

49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

Acts 2:1-4

1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

And the people are gathered up and they don’t know what is going on and they can’t figure it out. They’ve never seen this before. Peter jumped up and said:

Acts 2:15-21

15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.

16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:

21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

In other words, you ain’t seen nothing yet. I have news for you, He is still pouring out the Holy Ghost. It’s been TWO THOUSAND YEARS and He hasn’t exhausted His power.

Let me tell you about this Holy Ghost that we have received. It had been hid from ages and generations but now is manifest in the Saints.

Colossians 1:27

27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

Don’t tell me you can’t live for God. Don’t tell me you can’t say not to the devil.

1 John 4:4

4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Christ in you, never happened before, but it happened on the Day of Pentecost. You know what I’m looking at? I’m looking at some people that has received that experience. All we’re thinking about is a few goose bumps and chills running up and down our spine,

Acts 1:8

8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

This is the reason why that Jesus also told His disciples on the eve of His crucifixion in the 14 chapter of John:

John 14:12

12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

In other words, boys you’ve seen all this stuff that I’ve done, but you ain’t seen nothing yet!!

So in our scripture text:

1 Corinthians 2:9

9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

This is, in my opinion, the most misquoted verse in the whole Bible, misapplied scriptures in the entire Bible. Because we always quote it at though we’re thinking about some far off and distant day, we quote it at funerals, we sing about it with misty and longing eyes for the future. This was a quotation of an Old Testament prophesy. It was future tense when it was originally spoken.

In the 64 chapter in the book of Isaiah, when the man of God is pining for God and is desiring that God should manifest Himself, he starts the chapter with the words:

Isaiah 64:1-4

1 Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might flow down at thy presence,

2 As when the melting fire burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil, to make thy name known to thine adversaries, that the nations may tremble at thy presence!

3 When thou didst terrible things which we looked not for, thou camest down, the mountains flowed down at thy presence.

4 For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.

He may have been looking into the future with prophetic eyes in his day, but now the Apostle Paul is saying:

1 Corinthians 2:4

4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:

1 Corinthians 2:9

9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

I’m here to tell you, that’s not talking about some far off and distant land, but it’s talking about RIGHT NOW and RIGHT HERE!!!

Heaven is not mentioned anywhere in that chapter. It’s not talking about heaven, even though I believe that heaven will exceed our wildest imaginations and expectations. We’re not supposed to be looking way off toward heaven. God is saying “I’ve got all this power and it’s eating me up and it’s just churning. I’m just waiting for someone to realize you’ve got it!!”

God wants to reveal His ability now.

Hebrews 11:39

39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:

40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

The times we are living in demand it. Church as usual won’t cut it. The ordinary and the status quo will not do.

We are dealing with:

1. Dysfunctional people

2. Fractured situations

3. Unprecedented challenges in our time

4. Rapidly evolving technology

It more complex than anyone could have imagined. But the good news is we got the power available to us. We are too often satisfied with the natural means when only the supernatural will work. We are being contented with the normal when only the above normal will do. We are being contented with the average when only the above average is going to work.

Is anybody else here tired paddling the boat by ourselves? We need God to step on the scene tonight. We need God to plant His feet in the middle of some situations here tonight. That’s not all; our people need to see it.

Psalms 78:7

7 That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:

I’m tired of just reading about the miracles and the healing, I’m ready to experience it. I know we’ve all seen it a little bit here and a little bit there but my God can do more than that!!
