Summary: My question has always been, if it's hard for a Christian then it must be non livable for an unsaved person.

Call 91:1 in time of trouble

Psalm 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

This world is full of surprises, grief and sorrows and it's never easy to face some of them especially, when the devastation of hearing the news of a family member who has been given the death sentence of a certain cancer or some other incurable disease. My question has always been, if it's hard for a Christian then it must be non livable for an unsaved person.

Yesterday a friend of mine called to request prayer for his wife. They are a Christian couple and are very active in their church in Stanleyville and have been for years. Things seem to be going good in their lives and just 2 weeks ago his wife had a stomach pain after church on Sunday. He takes her to the hospital and Doctors run many test to make sure of what they saw was correct. She was diagnosed with an incurable type of cancer. She was given 6 weeks without Chemotherapy or maybe 10 months with it. They were devastated to say the least, their life changed dramatically in just a few days but, they still trusted God with the overall outcome.

I thought about Psalm 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Al-mighty. .....and verse 4 of Psalm 91 says: He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

When we call 911 in an emergency, we trust the one on the other end of the phone to get us help in time of crisis.

Psalm 91:1 is the 911 of the child of God. We need to trust God to help us even in the most serious crisis. Trusting God when we call upon Him. There is always a time of questioning God when things happen. Most of the time we don't have an answer as to why. That's were trust comes in.

For the unsaved they trust in man. Now, I thank God for the doctors and we live in an area where there are some of the best and only hours away. But, they are still human and limited in knowledge.

When you trust Christ as your Saviour He gives a peace that the Bible says surpasses all understanding. Not only that but, in verse 4 of Psalm 4 says He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

God carefully watches over us and supplies enough strength, love, peace and understanding to help us make it through. Psalm 91: 4 also says that his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

His truth is His word, the word became flesh and dwell among us (Jesus). God's word works in all situations, His promises will always stand. He said, He would never leave us nor, forsake us. Psalm 46:1 A very present help in trouble.

And He is our Buckler. A buckler was a piece of amour worn by Roman soldieries that was designed to protect the heart.

God will never put more on us than we can handle if we look to Him. He is our Buckler, our heart protector.

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

That peace that we don't understand will keep our hearts focused on Him and in turn gives our mind a peace in knowing that when the dust has settled on a small or a very major sorrow in our life...our Lord will be right there with us...every step of the way.

It's a comfort to know that we have help at any given time by dialing 911 on our phone but, we have the promise of protection from God Himself by trusting Jesus as our Saviour. Love in Christ Jesus, Ronnie Miller www.themillersbiblestudy.com
