# 7~ FIVE pt.2 THE MEANING OF BIBLE NUMBERS 11-19-11

Today we’ll continue on with our study of the meaning of Bible numbers, as I told you last time the number five has a two fold meaning , (grace or we could say Gods goodness—and the other meaning is death)

It’s my hope and prayer that as we see the meaning of these numbers that it will cause our faith to increase as we realize that no man or any group of men could have possible worked these great truths out, only God could do this.

We talked about the number five some last time, so we won’t go over altogether what has already been said to do with five. We’re still thinking on five as being the number of grace at this time.

The Psalms contain FIVE Books, each closing with praise to God, the first five books of the Bible is called the Pentateuch.—penta- means five, tateuch- means “books”.=five books=.

-------

Book One of the Psalms is = Psalms 1-41 similar to the first book or section of Genesis Concerning Man.

Book Two of the Psalms is = Psalms 42-72 similar to the second book of the Pentateuch.

The Exodus Book: Concerning National Israel

Book Three of the Psalms is = Psalms 73-89 typical of the third book of the Pentateuch.

The Leviticus Book: Concerning the Sanctuary.

Book Four of the Psalms is =Psalms 90-106 in type as the forth book of the Pentateuch.

The Numbers Book: Concerning Israel and Gentiles.

Book Five of the Psalms is =Psalms 107-150 much as the fifth book of the Pentateuch.

The Deuteronomy Book: Concerning God and His Word

There are FIVE women mentioned in the genealogy of Christ in Matthew 1.

They are Rahab, Ruth, Tamar, Bathsheba, and Mary. All had experienced the grace of God in their lives.

------

The Apostle John wrote FIVE books that reveal the Grace of God toward the believers.

In addition, they are the Gospel of John, first, 2nd, and 3rd epistles of John and the Revelation.

There are FIVE things a Christian is told to remember. |

1. What you are saved from. (Ephesians 2:11-12 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; 12That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

2. Those who suffer. (Hebrews 13:3 Remember them that are in bonds,--)

3. Those who rule over you. (Hebrews 13:7 Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow,-)

4. Truth. (Jude 17-18 But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; 18How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. –And--

Rev. 3:3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent.)

5. When we sin and repent. (Rev. 2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent,)

Notice that the word GRACE is used FIVE times in succession in Rom.11:5-6. Moreover, the word is not found again in this chapter. –listen as I read.

Rom.11:5-6 Even so at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of GRACE. And if by GRACE, then it is no more of works: otherwise GRACE is no more GRACE. But if it be works, then it is no more of GRACE: otherwise work is no more work.”

Notice too, that the word “works” is found four times, the number of creation, the WORK of God.—listen as I read it again.

In Ist Peter 1:1-2 Peter addresses his epistle to the saints scattered through FIVE countries, and he mentions FIVE doctrines, and these two FIVES are followed by the word GRACE.

Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout PONTUS, GALATIA, CAPPADOCIA, ASIA, and BITHYNIA, == ELECT according to the FORE KNOW LEDGE of God the Father, through SANCTIFICATION of the Spirit, unto OBEDIENCE and sprinkling of the BLOOD of Jesus Christ:

It was by grace that God called ABRAM, later to be called Abraham, there was no cause in Abram that God should have called him and choose him; he was of a land that worshipped pagan gods.

There was no cause why God should have made an unconditional covenant with Abram and his seed forever. It was simple the GRACE of God, God was making away through Abraham’s seed that the entire word could be saved by His grace.

Remember, “Grace” means unearned, undeserved favor of God; God did it because He wanted to, Abraham had nothing to do with the saving part, but through Abrahams seed came Christ of the tribe of Judah.—Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Jude.

Genesis 15:1 After these things the word of the LORD** came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward. (Notice-GRACE)

7-11 And HE said unto him, I am the LORD that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it.

8 And he said, Lord GOD, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?

9And HE said unto him, Take ME an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon.

The # 5 is stamped on this covenant by causing it to be made with five sacrifices—a heifer, a goat, a ram, a dove, and a pigeon.

Let’s be sure and notice that DEATH is seen here, these sacrifices died.

10And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not.

11And when the fowls came down (type of demons—Matt.13 :) upon the carcasses, Abram drove them away.

Listen as I read

Ephesians 4:1-3 and notice FIVE things revealed that brings peace, and if we’re to have peace we must have GRACE.

Ephesians 4:1-3 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation* (calling) wherewith ye are called, 2 with all LOWLINESS and MEEKNESS, with LONG SUFFERING, -- FORBEARING one another in love; 3 ENDEAVOURING to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

The apostle Paul in all his salutations always began each epistle with, “GRACE be unto you, and PEACE.”

The beginning of all of Paul’s letters, (Romans 1:7; --I Corinthians 1:3;-- Il Corinthians 1:2; Galatians 1:3;-- Ephesians 1:2-- Colossians 1:2;-- I Thessalonians 1:1;--2nd Thessalonians 1:2 --Philippians 1:2; --I Timothy 1:2;-- II Timothy 1:2; --Titus 1:4;- and Philemon v 3)

We notice that HEBREWS is not named here as Paul’s writing and the reason is there is no one named as it’s author, but we believe that it’s most likely Paul, the major reason we think it’s Paul is found in; --you might want to jot this reference down.--

2 Peter 3:15-16 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; (the Hebrews) 16 As also in all his epistles,--

There were FIVE ingredients in the holy anointing oil that we read about in Exodus 30-23-25.

They were (1) myrrh, (2) sweet cinnamon, (3) calamus, the aromatic peeled and dried MARSH HERB called sweet flag that is the source of a particular oil.----

(4) Cassis -- a syrupy liquid of low alcoholic strength made from black currants (berry) and used chiefly as a flavoring and sweetening agent. --- And (5) olive oil.

This holy anointing oil was a type of the Holy Spirit by whom Jesus was anointed. (Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power :)

And in Hebrews 10:29 the Holy Spirit is called “The Spirit of GRACE”

-------------

There are FIVE references to the Holy Spirit as Comforter, He is the Spirit of grace.

John 14:14; --14:26;--15:26; --16:7 and Acts 9:31)

---------

Isaiah 9:6 tells of five titles, which Christ is to be called.

“His name shall be called (1) Wonderful, (2) Counselor, (3) The Mighty God, (4) The everlasting Father, (5) The Prince of peace.”

Notice, the FIFTH Title by which Jesus would be called was “Prince of Peace”. GRACE always precedes peace.

------------

In Romans 8:29-30 there we find recorded FIVE GRACIOUS things God did for His people. (1) He foreknew them (2) He predestinated them. (3) He called them. (4) He justified them. (5) He glorified them.

For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

The word grace is found 191times in our KJ Bible. – The word FIVE is found 402 times.

I believe it is evident that FIVE is the number of GRACE.

------------

As I told you before, five has a two fold meaning, it also stands for DEATH, as we’ll see.

GEN. 5: could be called the death chapter because we read about so much death, notice the chapter is five.

This chapter reveals man’s value to God; also by naming individuals and stages in this early human phase tells us that each is known and remembered by God, maybe no one else will remember us but God does, have you ever thought about the fact that about two or three generations and we’re history, no one will know we even exited, but God remembers, do you know any thing about your great, great, great grand parents? Probably not, but God does.

I think of a man named Antipas in Rev. 2:13—Jesus said --- even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.

Nothing more is said about this man before or after, but Jesus remembered that he was His faithful martyr, He did not forget, like Brother Antipas all die.
