#12~ NINE~ BIBLE NUMBER MEANINGS 1-7-12

Today we’ll continue with the meaning of Bible number, and today the number is NINE. Nine is found 133 times in our KJ Bible. The number NINE speaks of FINALITY or DIVINE COMPLETENESS FROM THE LORD.

Let me say once again that there are (4) numbers that are said to be numbers that relate to perfection and completion, each of these are different than the other three. And the 4 numbers are,--3--7--10 --12.

"Three "is the first of four perfect numbers. --Three denotes divine perfection; when we come to a "three" in the Bible always look for God to be involved in what ever that particular subject might be, for instance, the three men that appeared to Abraham in Gen. 18:, the three Hebrew children cast into the fiery furnace in Dan. 3:, as He appeared in there with them, when we see "three" most of the time God is in the mist of what’s going on.

The 2nd perfect number is "Seven" and it denotes spiritual perfection and completion; remember ONE is the number of God, SIX the number of man, man is far from being complete in his natural state, but when MAN receives GOD as his God and Saviour then incomplete man becomes complete, ONE + SIX = SEVEN.

The 3rd perfect number is "Ten" it denotes orderly perfection, it’s to do with testimony and law, or the WORD such as the Ten Commandments.

And the 4th perfect number is "twelve "it denotes governmental perfection, such as the twelve tribes of Israel, the twelve Apostles.

----

We know that 3 x 3 = 9, so NINE is shown to be full of DIVINE perfection.

Galatians is the ninth book of the N.T., it has "nine" letters in it; this reminds us of the # six, Romans being the 6th book and it has 6 letters in it, Romans has "MAN" in it, it explains to MAN how man became sinners.

Paul mentions NINE "fruit of the Spirit" in Galatians 5:22-23,

"But the Fruit of the Spirit is (1) love, (2) Joy, (3) peace, (4) longsuffering, (5) gentleness, (6) goodness, (7) faith, (8) meekness, (9) temperance: against such there is no law."

----- "notice it say’s "Fruit" not fruits.

These verse’s are 22 & 23, when these verses are vertical and added together it amounts to NINE.

--------

NINE comes after EIGHT, which represents the NEW BIRTH. As NINE follows EIGHT, so the good fruit, the FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT, follows as the result Of the NEW BIRTH.

In 1st Corinthians 12:8-10 Paul mentions NINE gifts of the Spirit.

8For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; The word of wisdom & the word of knowledge.

WISDOM- is the explanation of truths dealing with the BEING and nature of God.

KNOWLEDGE- is the understanding of truths dealing with the BEING and nature of God.

9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

Notice,"GIFTS" plural, gifts was given by the Holy Spirit each and every time, anew each "healing"

The Apostles healed different people at different times as the Holy Spirit worked through them.

These we see on T.V. are not Apostles, they’re not real, it’s a waste of our time to watch it, if these so called "healers" were for real they could go to the hospital and empty the place, I mean the doctors would be out of a job.

If they think their among the original 12 that the Lord gave the gift of healing too in Matt.10: they would also be able to raise the dead as well.

Matt.10:1 And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. -- 7And as ye go, preach, saying, the kingdom of heaven is at hand. 8Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, ---

The only thing their good at today is cleansing the peoples pocket book.

* Now back to the GIFTS in 1st Corinthians 12:8-10---

10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; --

To prophesy today is to preach the Word of God, what’s already been made known to us in His Word.

---to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as HE will.

Realize that the word"UNKNOWN" in 1st Cor. chapters 12- 14 is in ITALICS the way that you see it here, the translators that were writing this into English put the word "UNKNOWN" in italics think it would be helpful, but it seems to have caused a great deal of confusion more than a help.

"TONGUES"; mean different known languages that some body speaks and understands.

There is no such thing as an "unknown" language, or tongue, some one some where can understand a spoken language or it could not be spoken, every body can’t understand other languages, so these will have to be interpreted by some one that does understand it.

When the church was getting under way and growing God gave certain individuals the gift of speaking other tongues or language’s that is evident in

Acts 2:5-8 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. 6Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. 7And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galileans? 8And how hear we every man in our own tongue, --

These were unlearned residence of Galilee, the message that they proclaimed was the WORD of God and what God was doing in saving sinners, these that heard these Galileans speak the good news in his own language and could now go back to his home place and tell the good news.

God does not do that today, there’s no need for it, today we have the complete WORD of God.

1st Cor.13: 8-10 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. 9For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 10But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away--

We don’t want to get into a study to do with TONGUES here today, just let me say for those that may be confused on this subject to read chapters 12-14 of 1st cor. and realize that Paul was writing this at a time that the Church was very young, we must not apply them to us today.

We don’t need any one coming into our assembly and telling us about God for the first time, we have the complete written Word of God, and God is not going to inform us about something new, He is through talking, people can except and believe what He has already said or pay their sin debt them selves.

--------

In Matthew 5:3-12 there are NINE Beatitudes, which Jesus spoke in His Sermon on the Mount.

These reveal the Divine Completeness of the Kingdom of Heaven.

It was the NINTH hour that Jesus died on the Cross. (Matthew 27:46-50)

Here is recorded the finishing of Sin, Satan, and the COMPLETENESS OF GOD’S PLAN OF SALVATION for man’s sin. ---it is finished.

The breadth of the court of the Tabernacle was fifty cubits (Exodus 27:12), and there were ten pillars to the west side.

"And for the breadth of the court on the west side shall be hangings of fifty cubits: their pillars ten and their sockets ten." Between those ten pillars there were NINE spaces.

The NINE spaces in the hanging that was FIFTY cubits connects the NINE with the work of the SPIRIT, and shows the FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT.

The Holy Spirit came fifty days after Christ arose from the dead, showing FIFTY to stand for the Holy Spirit and His work.

* In the law concerning the Sabbath year and what follows, there is both a picture of the NEW BIRTH and also the FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT.

God said to Israel, Leviticus 25:2-4 "When ye come into the land which I give you, then shall the land keep a Sabbath unto the Lord. Six years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard, and gather in the fruit thereof: but in the seventh year shall be a rest unto the land, a Sabbath for the Lord: thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard."

In the same chapter they are told what they should eat in the SEVENTH, and EIGHT, and the NINTH years.

Vs. 20-22 "And if ye say, What shall we eat the seventh year? Behold we shall not sow, nor gather in our increase: then I will command my blessing upon you the sixth year, and it shall bring forth fruit for three years. And ye shall sow the EIGHTH year, and eat of the fruit until the NINTH year; until her fruit come in ye shall eat of the old store."

This shows that in the SIXTH, SEVENTH and EIGHTH years they ate of what was planted the sixth year. In the EIGHT year they sowed again, and in the NINTH year they began to eat of the FRUIT of what was sown the EIGHT year.

This is a picture of the FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT, represented by number NINE, which follows the NEW BIRTH, represented by number EIGHT.

Remember NINE speaks of FINALITY as well as DIVINE COMPLETENESS FROM THE LORD.

and upon the new wine,

and upon the oil,

and upon that which the ground bringeth forth,

and upon men,

and upon cattle,

and upon all the labor of the hands."

--------------------------

As we can see by these accounts to do with some of the judgments of God in the O.T., you and me today ought to thank God that we’re not under the law as they were then, we are under God’s grace today, most of us would be dead if it was not for His mercy and grace.
