KNOCKED DOWN – BUT NOT DEFEATED

I. The Enemy Is Winning (vs. 1-5)
A. Continual enemy the Amalikites…Israel/King Saul…
B. Destroy Messianic – (Pharaoh, Haman, Herod, Hitler)
C. Attacked David at his home…
D. Took everything that he loved…Burned his village to the ground
E. Great sorrow, pain, grief and suffering….
John 10:10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy” (What have you lost?)
II. Our Friends Are Pretending (vs.6a)
A. To add more torment…People who should be your greatest supporters…
B. Adversity shows up to mock our commitment to God & His promises – it proves…
Jeremiah 17:5 “Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength…”
III. Our God Is Still Intervening (Dominating)
A. Circumstances provide no help, no hope & no happiness
B. David encouraged himself in the Lord (strengthened, optimistic)
Psalm 34:1 “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”
2Corinthians 7:4-6 “…I am greatly encouraged; in all our troubles my joy knows no bounds. For when we came into Macedonia this body of ours had no rest, but we were harassed at every turn – conflicts on the outside, fears within. But God…who comforts the downcast, comforted us…”
Verse 7-8 David consults the Lord and the Lord says “PURSUE” (See vs. 17-19)
I didn’t come to cooperate, or negotiate, or to collaborate – I came to get my stuff
I came to retaliate, to eliminate & to dominate – I came to get my stuff
My salvation, marriage, my children, my prosperity, my job, my ministry – I came to get my...
I know it looks ruff, I know it looks tuff, I know it looks like I don’t have enuff
But in the name of Jesus Christ - I came to get my stuff….
1Samuel 30:1-6
1 And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalikites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire;
2 And had taken the women captives, that were therein: they slew not any, either great or small, but carried them away, and went on their way.
3 So David and his men came to the city, and behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives.
4 Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep.
5 And David’s two wives were taken captives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite.
6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.
17 David fought them from dusk until evening of the next day and none of them got away.
18 David recovered everything that the Amalikites had taken.
19 Nothing was missing: young, old, boy, girl, or anything else that had been taken.
