20But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

21For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

22The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

John 3:16

16For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

One can spend a life time looking for earthly treasures that may be visible to the eye but yet entirely unreachable in the mind and heart. They will cause many disappointments and heartaches.

Treasure: is defined as wealth, prize or Gem

Ill-gotten treasures will wreak havoc in lives.

20But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: but, as the LORD liveth, I will run after him, and take somewhat of him.

21So Gehazi followed after Naaman. And when Naaman saw him running after him, he lighted down from the chariot to meet him, and said, Is all well?

22And he said, All is well. My master hath sent me, saying, Behold, even now there be come to me from mount Ephraim two young men of the sons of the prophets: give them, I pray thee, a talent of silver, and two changes of garments.

23And Naaman said, Be content, take two talents. And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and laid them upon two of his servants; and they bare them before him.

24And when he came to the tower, he took them from their hand, and bestowed them in the house: and he let the men go, and they departed.

25But he went in, and stood before his master. And Elisha said unto him, Whence comest thou, Gehazi? And he said, Thy servant went no whither.

26And he said unto him, Went not mine heart with thee, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants?

27The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed forever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.

Gehazi ‘s eyes saw the treasure

Gehazi’s mind sought after the treasure

Our heavenly father warns his children of pit falls along life’s way. When one is insensible to the word of God the only hope he has is to pray for an awakening.

James 1:13-15

Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he anyman: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

When man (woman or man) is Lost and hurting and in an unconscious state toward God, he hurt himself and others. When one is unconscious he does not feel the pain inflicted on self or those he hurt.

The periodical son is one other example of being in an unconscious state towards God. However, when he came to himself and realized how far he had drifted from God. He repented and came back home expecting be his father’s servant. His Father received his son with gladness for he was now alive and conscious towards his Father.

Matthew 12:35

A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

Jesus was God’s heavenly treasure sent to earth to die rise again on the third day, ascend up to heaven present himself to his father, and sent back the comforter which is the Holy Ghost.

Jesus was God’s Treasure and he was given that man might have the opportunity to choose eternal life with God.

Is the treasure unfound in your life? Jesus came that you might have life and have it more abundantly. I pray that you will choose him today. Being saved is a process and it starts with committing to the plan of salvation and allowing God the opportunity to rescue you from sin and shame.

But if our gospel be hid it is hid to them that are lost:

In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’s sake. For God who commanded the light to shine out of darkness hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.
