Summary: This sermmon is instructive in that it guides the believer as to how to live in God's protection; not on the outside of it.

How to live in God’s protection

Crime and violence is the hot topic. Many people are afraid because of crime. They are afraid to wear their expensive Jewelry; and choose time and place to wear them. People are afraid to park their cars even in their own yard not to mention public parking; because some thief may take the car away. People in business are uneasy as young thugs walk aimlessly, yet intently on robbing and taking their hard earned dollars. Women, men, and children are no longer safe as sex pervert roam the streets and neighbor hoods in search of a victim upon whom to satisfy their ungodly lusts. Police officers are afraid to go in certain areas, of Nassau, because many of the citizens are without respect for God and man and will fire upon the officers as they perform their duty. The government is perplexed and up in arms wondering where they went wrong and fearing that the next election could be the means to make them unemployed. The many quarters of the Church are pointing fingers saying, maybe we are praying and seeking God’s face but we are not turning from our wicked ways; hence God is not healing the land. There is a general feeling of insecurity across the land and by extension across the globe. Fear, fear, fear, has gripped the people and there seems to be only one way out. No way out. People are afraid and they are seeking for protection. Alas, MANY PEOPLE are seeking from the wrong people are looking in the wrong direction. There is even talk by some of protecting themselves and enforcing what is called vigilante justice; where ordinary people, take the law in their hands by executing and intimidating those whom they feel has or have offended them. This morning, in the midst of this apparent fear, there is good news. Good news in the fact that there is a God who bids us to come to him and to trust him for our security. He has promised protection to all those who are his and who maintain a right relations ship with him.

This morning, I refer you to the 91 Psalms where it states:

1. He that dwelleth in the secret place of the, most high shall abide under the shadow of the almighty.

2. He shall deliver thee from the snare of fowler (A sportsman who pursues wild fowl, or takes or kills for food. [1913 Webster]

3. He shall deliver thee from the noisome pestilence

4. He shall cover thee with his feathers

5. He shall give his angels charge over thee

6. The angel of the lord encamps around the righteous (Ps 34:7)

(serious (sometimes fatal) infection of rodents caused by Yersinia pestis and accidentally transmitted to humans by the bite of a flea that has bitten an infected animal

an evil influence or idea)

David conclude that God was his refuge

1. A condition of being safe or sheltered from pursuit, danger, or trouble.

2. Something providing such shelter.

3. A source of help, relief, or comfort in times of trouble

And his fortress

1. A fortified place, especially a large, permanent military stronghold that often includes a town

His truth shall be thy shield and buckler. We must rely on God’s word

Buckler: A small, round shield either carried or worn on the arm. 2. A means of protection; a defense:

Shield: A broad piece of armor made of rigid material and strapped to the arm or carried in the hand for protection against hurled or thrusted weapons.

2. A person or thing that provides protection.

A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked

Because thou hast made the Lord thy habitation. (live with God)

There shall no evil befall thee

Neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling

Thou shalt thread upon the lion and the adder; the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet (these represents demonic activities and demonic spirits)

The promise is long life and God’s constant care provision and omnipresence.

On Jordan's stormy banks I stand

And cast a wishful eye

To Canaan's fair and happy land,

Where my possesions lie.

O the transporting rapt'rous scene

That rises to my sight;

Sweet fields arrayed in living green

And rivers of Delight.

There generous fruits that never fail

On trees immortal grow;

There rocks and hills and brooks and vales

With milk and honey flow.

Soon will the Lord my soul prepare

For joys beyond the skies,

Where never-ceasing pleasures roll,

And praises never die.

Chorus

I am bound for the promised land,

I am bound for the promised land

O who will come and go with me

I am bound for the promised land
