Summary: In a ever changing world there is the comfort of knowing that God changes not.

God’s Not Changing

Malachi 3:6

We live in an ever changing world but in all this we have the certainty that our God changes not!

See: Psalms 102:25-27 But thou art the same…

Mention: Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever

Also: James 1:17 With whom there is no variableness, neither shadow of turning

Listen, God is unchanging – He is unchanging in His persons, perfections, promises and purposes.

Fact: In our world today we have seen in the past 50 years many changes in products, personal behavior and public acceptance.

This leaves us the Church in a very complex position as to what changes are or are not acceptable.

Examples:

• Technology (Internet, phones etc..,)

• Civil Laws (In the past 50 years we have seen some good and bad laws passed)

• Cultural Views (dress, social behavior etc..,)

How do we maintain our Christian distinctive in an ever changing world?

1. A Intimate Relationship With God

The breakdown in the society of Israel (God’s people) can be sum up in this simple statement “They knew not the LORD”

See: Judges 2:10 Another generation who knew not the LORD

And: Jeremiah 9:3 And they know not me saith the LORD

Now the Bible says that there are clearly some things that are past finding out when it comes to knowing the LORD. Romans 11:33

Also: Isaiah 55:8-9 His ways and thoughts are higher than ours

Important Point: This is why it is important for us to have an intimate relationship with God because He in this relationship reveals unto us His will for our lives in this ever changing world.

In our society today we have what we call a world view and a God view and we must in embracing the many changes in our society make sure that the change is not contrary to God’s nature and character.

2. A Complete Understanding of God Word

See: Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for the lack of knowledge…

Certainly this knowledge is pertaining to the laws or the Word of God. Because of the lack of knowledge people are prone to do that which seems good in their own eyes.

See: Hebrews 5:13-14 It is God’s Word that guides us in this process of what is good and evil.

Mention: Psalms 119:9, 11 It is God’s Word that cleanse our ways and causes us to live a life of convictions toward Him.

Key Point: In this ever changes world what we are seeing is man attempting to explain away God and His Word. This is done by simply replacing God and His Word with an acceptable substitute that holds to different religious values. By doing so God is not denied but in essence changed to a more humanistic view of who man wants Him to be.

Today we are hearing the term religion says instead of people saying God says and there is a difference.

It is in God’s Word where we obtain our ethical and moral obligations unto the Lord!

1 Cor. 9:20-21 Paul says he has become all things that some might be saved but in doing so he says to the keeping of God law.

3. A Desire To Be Obedient

See: Jeremiah 9:6 Through deceit they refuse to know Me

Also: Hosea 4:6 Because thou hast rejected knowledge…

Listen I believe the lack of obedience has become the most damaging thing in this society of change for God’s people and a people without God.

See: Romans 1:21-25 The key words are they changed and this happen after they knew God but choose not to glorify Him.

See: Hebrews 1:10-12 But thou art the same and thy years shall not fail.

Thank God that He changes not!
