Jer. 5: 25 - 31---- 6: 9-19 BACK TO THE OLD PATH 6-16-12
In the message today we find Gods people Israel have become unconcerned and disobedient as to what God say's and wants His people to do, they are sick from their head to the foot, and the so called prophets and priest were nothing more than racketeers, they were nothing more than a bunch of ear ticklers saying what ever made the people happy, they were becoming rich as the people were becoming poorer by the day, financially as well as spiritually.
It didn't seem to matter that God was fed up with the whole crowd, and was going to send havoc on the congregation of Israel.

Jer. 5: 25 -31 Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.
26For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men.
27As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich.
28They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass *(over look) the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge. * (refuse to help the poor get the justice they deserve.)
29Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
30A wonderful *(astonishment) and horrible thing is committed in the land; 31 The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; *(what pleases them) and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?

>> It seems that much of our citizens today "love to have it so" many like what this corrupt government does today, their getting all kind of government hand outs; they don't want it to change.
>> 2 Thessalonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

And also today here in our country we see many false prophets on TV, I think of one right away, the thrust of his so called message is made up of convincing the listeners and viewers to "sow a seed" that is, if they'll send him money and have faith, God will increase what they have sown by much more.
I have listened to him from time to time as I'm going through the channels with my blessed flipper, and it's always the same, it's hard to understand how people can be so gullible but they are or he'd do some thing else, and as long as people will keep sending him money he'll continue to do it, most folks that do such as this are not very well grounded in Gods word. But there is coming a day these spiritual racketeers will pay.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall throughly glean the remnant of Israel as a vine: turn back thine hand as a grape gatherer into the baskets.
>> The false prophets and liberal preachers that are among us today will continue to drain the listeners dry, (shall thoroughly glean) the devil has his so called preachers in a multitude of pulpits across the land today preaching and reading from these watered down versions of the Bible careful not to up set his or her congregation, and these congregations have heard it so long they wouldn't have it any other way.

10To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, * (they don't hear or understand) and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.

11Therefore I am full of the fury of the LORD; I am weary with holding in:

I will pour it out upon the children abroad, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him that is full of days.
12And their houses shall be turned unto others, with their fields and wives together: for I will stretch out my hand upon the inhabitants of the land, saith the LORD.
13For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; *(wanting more, dishonest gain) and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.

14They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people *(Jerusalem) slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.
>> Sounds much like what we hear today, "that the economy is doing fine" this present administration in office today is spending 4 BILLION dollars a day that it borrows from China, our country is in the biggest mess in all it's history.
The whole world is in a financial mess, but you know what? If it wasn't, the Antichrist wouldn't have any thing to straighten out would he?--it's all leading up to the mark of the Antichrist in order to "buy sell and trade"
>> Revelation 13: 16-17 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 17And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

15Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? (Sodomites today) nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.

16Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.
But they said, We will not walk therein.
17Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.
18Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O congregation, what is among them. 19Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it.
Over and over, and year after year, Jeremiah had warned the people; but they flatly refused.
In a wicked, unprotected land a watchman was vital in order to warn others of coming danger, but all of the watchmen God sent met with the same stubborn reply. "We will not hearken."
Therefore, the nations were called upon to witness the justice of Jehovah's dealings with so rebellious a people, there is no telling the number of Bible grounded Preachers that God has sent for this country to hear, we have heard some good preaching in this country, and let me say too that there is still good preaching here, I have said many times that I would hate to go to hell from around here, because people have heard much good solid preaching, and yet there's many that refuse to believe it. "We will not hearken."

16Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.

How many times have we all heard some one say, "those were the good old days" or "I wish I had lived back in those good old days".
Well I don't know about you but I don't want to go back to the days when there was no electricity or piped in water, "the good ole days" when folks had to go out in all sort of bad weather to run too the out house.
And what in the world would we do if we didn't have our TV flipper to set and flip from channel to channel? We'd think that the tribulation surely is here.
No; I enjoy all the conveniences that we have today, and so do you.
Here in Jer.6:16 we find that the Lord wants His people to travel the right path. He wants them on a path that will lead them in His direction.

I remember talking with a man a long time ago where we worked, he was of another denomination, I was explaining to him that Jesus Christ was the only way to heaven, and that we must come to the Heavenly Father the Bible way, not another man made way, and let me say; we were not arguing, we were friends.
He said to me; that we're all going to the same heaven just not the same way, and I explained to him that, that might work if we were going to California of any other place, I mean I could leave here in SC and go to where you are now as your listening at this time in any number of directions and finally arrive where you are.
I could take off and go to Canada and come back down to Wisconsin and even go from there to Tennessee then get on I 10 and I 20 and go to California or where ever, but if we want to go too heaven we must use the old road map so to speak that God has given to us, His Word.

When I was in the Marine Corp I hitch hiked from Camp Pendleton California too Easley SC twice, that was back when I was about 19 years old, you don't want to try that today it's away to dangerous, one of those times I left California with a dime in my pocket and when I got here I still had it, I'd stay on the road day and night, I'd get here in about 3 ½ days, about the same as a bus would, but any way, I looked at a map previously in order to get here, notice; I had to have a road map to get here, I just didn't just blindly get on the road and expect to get home.

The same truth applies to going to heaven, I mean no one will make it to heaven if their going by "the new world translation" that the false Jehovah witnesses have, or any other number of so called Bibles.
No amount of good works will get us there either, how would we know when we'd done enough?

God has never had but one way to heaven, I realize that He dealt with people of different dispensations differently, remember there are seven dispensations but we'll not talk about them for the sake of time. But God's way was always the right way and He has never changed.
>> Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
>> John 7: 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

The good way is following the old paths, and then to walk therein, and if we'll do this He promises that we'll find rest for our soul.
Why in the world would people look for a new way?
Jesus said in
>> Matthew 7:13-14 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. -----------
But regardless what Jesus say's people will still have their own ideas about how to get to heaven, it's always been that way and no matter what they hear or are told they'll still have their own ways and ideas about things such as this.

Dear heart let us stick with the Good old KJ bible and believe it, follow its directions and we'll arrive at our heavenly destination right on time.
