Step 2- Obey

Review:

God is INFINITE. God is ONLY limited by His CHARACTER.

Ang Diyos WALAY KATAPUSAN. DILI Siya MASUKOD. Ang Diyos limitado LAMANG pinaagi sa Iyang KINAIYAHAN.

God’s Love, Wisdom, Knowledge and Truth is infinite. It can NOT be MEASURED.

Ang KAMATUORAN sa Diyos walay katapusan. DILI kini MASUKOD

Ang KAHIBALO sa Diyos walay katapusan. DILI kini MASUKOD.

Ang KAALAM sa Diyos walay katapusan. DILI kini MASUKOD.

Ang GUGMA sa Diyos walay katapusan. DILI kini MASUKOD.

Man is FINITE. He CAN be MEASURED. He is limited by GOD’S PERFECT DESIGN.

Ang tawo may KATAPUSAN. Siya MASUKOD. Limitado siya pinaagi sa PERPEKTONG DESINYO SA DIYOS.

Man therefore must LOOK TO (TRUST) God as man’s source of WISDOM, KNOWLEDGE, TRUTH and CHARACTER, .

Obedience is the application of discipline against the human nature, in the direction

of applying the Wisdom of God as God tells man to apply It.

The human nature is a nature born in sin.

A person cannot obey God without submission of his human nature to God.

“I am crucified with Christ…”

Christian: A Christian is a “disciple” of Jesus Christ. To be a “disciple” is to choose to be “disciplined by” a person, or a set of ideas.

A Christian must choose to be a disciple of Christ. To be “disciplined” by Christ… Jesus does not force us into submission. He provides the Truth, stands at the door of our hearts knocking, and waits for us to submit to His Wisdom…to act on His Wisdom (His Word)…to Obey. Acting on His Wisdom, is being disciplined by Christ Jesus.

As we obey God blesses us. God’s first blessing?...those described by Solomon: peace of heart, peace of mind, and the Love of God becomes real in our lives.

We OBEY God as we look to God as our source of WISDOM, KNOWLEDGE,

TRUTH , and CHARACTER .

Kita matinumanon sa Diyos sa dihang motan-aw kita sa Diyos isip atong tuburan sa BATASAN, KAALAM, KAHIBALO, ug KAMATUORAN.

WHAT IS IT THAT GOD DESIRES FROM US? WHAT DOES GOD WANT FROM YOU?

Unsa man diay kana ang tinguha sa Diyos ngari kanato? Unsa man ang gitinguha sa Diyos gikan kanimo?

OBEDIENCE...TRUST...ABIDEING...? ALL OF THESE ARE TRUE...BUT WHAT IS IT THAT GOD FIRST TRULY DESIRES IN HIS HEART FROM US?

PAGKAMATINUMANON… PAGSALIG… PAGPUYO?

God wants a RELATIONSHIP with me.

Ang Diyos gusto ug RELASYON ngari kanako.

God wants a loving genuine relationship…with me.

Ang Diyos gusto ug mahigugma-on TINUD-ANAY NGA RELASYON.

THIS IS WHY GOD IS MOST CONCERNED WITH THE “WHY OF MY HEART”.

“God is more concerned with the ‘WHY’ of my heart,

than the ‘WHAT’ of my hands. When the “why” of my heart

is RIGHTEOUS, the ‘what’ of my hands becomes CLEARLY seen, SIMPLE to understand, and EASY to accomplish”

Pastor ‘Skip’ Moran

“Ang Diyos labing nagpakabana sa “rason o sulod” sa akong kasing-kasing,

kaysa sa “Unsa o gibuhat “ sa akong mga kamot.

Kung ang “rason o sulod sa akong kasing-kasing MATARONG,

ang “unsa o gibuhat sa akong mga kamot mamahimong TATAWNG

tan-awon, SAYON ang pagsabot, ug DALI ang pag human.”

Paul says I am supposed to offer my life as a living sacrifice to God. When a child obeys his father, does he say “look Daddy, I’m obeying you”? No. If the child does, usually the child is doing something wrong, and maybe tying to get away with it….LOL.

Translation:

So why do we Christians make such a big deal of saying “look Daddy, I’m worshiping You, I’m obeying You”? How many songs in our churches say “I worship You”? Wouldn’t it be more honorable to God to simply say “You are God, You are my God, I choose to make you the Master and Commander of all my ways”?

SCRIPTURE OBSERVATION selected elements of Rom 12: 18 - 32

Characteristics of Wickedness:

GODLESSNESS and WICKEDNESS of men

Godlessness is the absence of God, as Paul puts it GODLESSNESS and WICKEDNESS are combined terms which can not be separated for interpretation. It is done so the reader would understand the two terms Godlessness and Wickedness were the description of one condition or state. It is therefore accurate to say wickedness is the result of the absence of God.

Peter does this in 2 Pet 1, where he speaks about “Life and Godliness”. In this structure, life and godliness are descriptors of the same condition or concept. Life and godliness together form the concept of “a Godly Life”…the Christian Life.

Translation:

Suppress the truth by wickedness: Those in wickedness will be ..

Those in wickedness will exhibit characteristics of those who are mentally and emotionally disturbed. Those in wickedness will be filled with negative emotion. Those in wickedness will be filled with inability to identify correct emotions, nor control the emotions they do exhibit.

Translation:

Exchange The Glory Of The Immortal God For Images: Those in wickedness will focus on seeking, gaining, and keeping images of created things. Those in wickedness will attempt to gain strength from anything other than the God of The Bible. Those in wickedness will be more focused on the world, than on anything of The Bible.

Translation:

Sinful Desires And Shameful Lusts: Those in wickedness will be full of sinful desires and shameful lusts. They will not be ashamed of their sinful desires or shameful lusts. It will be evident in their heart, mind, words and actions. Those in wickedness will not be satisfied by attempts to satisfy their sinful desires and shameful lusts. Those in wickedness will therefore chase after ever increasing severity of satisfying their sinful desires and shameful lusts.

Translation:

Sexual Impurity: Those in wickedness will see sex as something to gain pleasure, rather than something to give pleasure. Those in wickedness will see sex as something common, and not given by God. Those in wickedness will be full of sexual desire, it will permeate the thoughts of their hearts and minds, it will be evident in their words and actions. Those in wickedness will be focused on sex, and will see impure sex in everything they observe. Those in wickedness will be suspicious of any interaction between other people as one that involves sexual acts, or motivations of sexual gratification.

Translation:

Translation:

Exchange The Truth Of God For A Lies: Those in wickedness will believe concepts and principles which are in exact opposite of what God says in The Bible. Those in wickedness will give up opportunities to read, hear or observe the Truth of God. They will instead seek opportunities to read, hear or observe concepts that are the exact opposite of what God says in The Bible.

Translation:

Worship And Serve Created Things: Those in wickedness will have thinking and emotions tied directly to objects, to things rather than to relationships with God, family, church and community. Those in wickedness will see their personal value and worth more in what they own or do not own, rather than in their relationships with God, family, church and community.

Translation:

Exchange Natural things/thoughts/elements For Unnatural things/thoughts/elements: Those in wickedness will have an affection for un-natural things. They will become more and more interested in un-natural stories (Twilight movies?), un-natural events (witchcraft, divinations, etc.). Those in wickedness will give away their natural pleasures for un-natural pleasures, their natural thoughts and desires for un-natural thoughts and desires.

Translation:

Abandon What Is Natural: Those in wickedness will no longer accept what is natural as what is good for them. They will reject their gender, their family, their church and their community. They will reject all the things that are required for life and replace them with un-natural things: eating, sleeping, learning, walking, talking, chewing, making love, etc.

Translation:

Become Inflamed With Lust: Those in wickedness will be overcome by ever increasing lust for exposure to the flesh of other men or women. Those in wickedness will be dominated by an ever increasing desire to commit ever increasingly intense acts of physical sex with men and women.

Translation:

Commit Indecent Acts : Those in wickedness will have no self-conscious warning about committing acts which offend others. They will exchange the honorable for the offensive. They will be happiest when committing indecent acts against innocent people. They will gain great feeling of power and satisfaction from committing sexual, violent, gross, and dishonorable acts against the most innocent of God’s creation.

Translation:

Perversion: Those in wickedness will abuse their God given creative nature by inventing ever more increasingly vile thoughts, words and actions. They will reject what is considered healthy, clean, natural and holy, and replace it with what is filthy, vile, repugnant, repulsive and healthy. (piercings, tattoos?)

Translation:

Not Worthwhile To Retain The Knowledge Of God: Wickedness results in attacking the knowledge of God. Those in wickedness will think it is not worthwhile to seek, gain and keep God’s Wisdom (the knowledge of God)

Think it is more worthwhile to seek, gain and keep knowledge that comes from man. Think it is worthwhile to seek, gain and keep anything OTHER THAN The Scripture, or true understanding of Who God Is. Will reject any Authority of God, Will reject The Fear of The Lord, and belittle it as “old”, or “outdated”.

Thinking it is not worthwhile to seek, gain and keep the knowledge of God, will result in depravity,

Wickedness is like a fungus, a sickness, which is never satisfied.

Translation:

Depraved Mind: Wickedness always brings with it ever increasing evil, greed and depravity. It always needs more and more emotion, more and more space, more and more thought, more and more resources, more and more attention. It is “ever increasing”. It will need to have more and more intensity of response from those who practice it. Those who are in wickedness will have a greater and greater desire for more and more intense wickedness.

Wickedness always breeds more wickedness, evil, greed and depravity; and a desire for more and more severe wickedness, evil, greed and depravity.

Wickedness causes a desire for new kinds of wickedness…every kind of wickedness.

Wickedness breeds wickedness, evil, greed and depravity.

Translation:

Those who are in Wickedness will be full of “envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice”:

Envy : Is “a feeling of discontent or covetousness with regard to another's advantages, success, possessions, etc.”.

Envy is not satisfied with what it has. A person displays envious emotions when they do not take care of

things God has given them, and together desire to have what others have. Envy and laziness are often coupled together within a person’s character. To be envious is the opposite of being thankful to God for what He has provided.

(Adultery starts with pride and envy; Stealing starts with pride and envy..and so on)

Translation:

Murder: Is the act of taking another person’s life. One commits murder when one steals away the life of another man

created in the image of God. A soldier killing the enemy during wartime is not murder, as there is no “malice”

meaning there is no dishonoring of God’s choice to create that person, as the soldier is doing his duty. A father

defending his family from a violent intruder is not murder, as there is no “malice aforethought”, as the father could

not have known the intruder was going to be there, and the intruder having demonstrated violent intention has

committed “malice aforethought’”, and “malice” dishonoring God’s choice to create the family members.

Therefore the father’s responsibility to fulfill his role as protector of the family, over rules the violent intruders

God given right to life.

Translation:

Strife: Strife describes a person who is always in conflict, or is always seeking conflict with others. Strife happens when one is bitterly opposed to an idea or concept, and chooses to allow that opposition to bring conflict into their relationships. Pesons of strife will say things like “I will never XXX”, “No one will ever XXXX to me”. They use absolute terms to express their thoughts and emotions: never, always, etc. A person of Strife often has conflict, bitterness, and antagonism follow them where ever they go. Persons of strife create conflict, arguments, and divisions between people. They are the opposite of “Peace Makers” (James 3:13-18)

Translation:

Deceit: Deceit is nurtured deception. A person of deceit will seek first to speak lies, instead of accurately representing the truth. Often persons of deceit have chosen a lifelong practice of first speaking lies which defend the person’s pride, ego and self worth. A person of deceit will believe that appearance is more important than function of everything. A person of deceit will always seek to appear to be in the right, never in the wrong. A person of deceit will be unable to admit mistakes. A person of deceit will often be the first to recognize and point out deceit in others. A person of deceit will avoid any situation which could reveal the truth about themselves. A person of deceit has a critical character flaw and can not be trusted with positions of authority. A person of deceit will put a “spin” on all events and situations which could place the person in a “bad light”. A person of deceit is more concerned with what men think about them, than what God thinks about them.

Translation:

Malice: A person of malice always has bad intentions toward another. The word malice carries with it the meaning that a person who has malice desires to hurt, to inflict injury, harm, or suffering on another out of deep-seated meanness. A person of malice does not exibit true respect of others as created in God’s image. A person of malice is deeply selfish and when combined with deceit, a person of malice seeks their own good above all others and does not consider the impact on others. A dictators like “Ferdinand Marcos” and “Imelda Marcos” who ruled his poor country with an iron fist, killing, depriving the poor of representation, stealing from the poor as well as the rich to better their own positions and wealth are a clear example of what Paul is expressing as the spirit of “envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice”.

Translation:

Gossips: Those who are in Wickedness will be gossips, seeking, to gain and keep ever increasing intensity/severity of lies and gossip…and will become more and more interested in the lives of other people… FACEBOOK?

Translation:

Slanderers: {lies about a person’s character, actions, or personage} Those who are in Wickedness will exhibit the other side of the “gossiping spirit…the will be slanderers. They will seek ever more intense experience in slander of others, and will be more and more interested and captured by the need to hear and take part in greater and greater acts of slander.

Translation:

God-haters: Those who are in Wickedness will exhibit greater and greater intensity of a “God hating spirit”…they will be God-haters in their hearts, minds, words and actions. They will seek ever more and more intense opportunities to exhibit their hate of God to others, and will be more and more interested and captured by the need to hear and take part in acts of God hating.

Translation:

Insolent, Those who are in Wickedness will not hesitate to insult anyone or anything. Their speech will be full of self-pride. They will not hesitate to slander or lie about people of God, or people in authority. They will be BOLD in their efforts and will HAVE NO conscience against hurting other people with words. They will be BOLD in their verbal attacks on others, regardless of rank, privilege or authority of the one affronted.

Translation:

Boastful:

Disobey their parents:

Senseless,

Faithless,

Heartless

Invent Ways Of Doing Evil;

Characteristics of the Godiness which ACTIVELY opposes Wickedness:

Suppress the truth by wickedness: As a Christian I must do the opposite of suppressing the Truth of God (His Wisdom). Wickedness could be working in my life if I am refusing to seek, gain, keep and share God’s Wisdom. This can be done actively by deciding to not speak about an issue. OR It can be done passively by refusing to study the Bible. In this manner by passively going with the flow (Bahala-na), I am not disciplining myself to seek, gain or keep any part of God’s Wisdom, or any Biblical Truth I don’t know about, I am suppressing God’s Truth. Christians who do not study and apply God’s Word give way for the enemy by a lack of Godly self-discipline. Refusing to study the Bible and apply it in one’s life is the opposite of Godliness.

All know God is: As a Christian I know that God is God. However, just because I’m saved, and I go to church, or even teach, does not mean that the Truth that “God Is” has effected every aspect of my life. As a Christian I must actively seek to recognize that God Is in every element and aspect of my life. The campaign of “What Would Jesus Do” from the 90’s, is an example of seeking to have every aspect of one’s life reflect the Truth that “God Is”. Persons who reflect that “God Is”, say to themselves: “God Is God, therefore how would He desire me to think, feel, speak and act in this XXXXX situation”.

The Fear of The Lord is what should drive every contemplation or motivation of our hearts. The Fear of the Lord Says:

“You Are God,

I am not,

Therefore I will Obey You”

Do Not Glorify, Identify Or Admit God Is God: As a Christian I must do the opposite. I must Glorify God as the source of all that is. I must give seek to bring honor to Him through my heart, mind, words and actions for all He has provided me, my family, my church, my community. To Glorify God is to behave out of obedience to Him, and then to give Him the credit for our obedience. We deserve no credit for anything we have done, as it is God who has given us life, and given us the opportunity to do good. If we do good, God deserves the respect, winnings, medals or honors that result from our actions.

Do Not Give Thanks To The God Of The Bible: As a Christian I must do the opposite. I must Glorify God as the source of all that is. I must give thanks to him through my heart, mind, words and actions for all He has provided me, my family, my church, my community.

Thinking Becomes Futile: As a Christian I must actively do the opposite. I must battle wickedness by using my God given creative, thinking mind to seek, gain and keep God’s Wisdom. In this way my thinking will be useful, fruitful, and benefit me, my family, my church and my community.

Foolish Hearts: As a Christian I must actively do the opposite.

Hearts Become Darkened: As a Christian I must actively do the opposite.
