Summary: We have been adopted into the family of God. This teaching shows the great privileges of that.

Adopted into the Family

Romans 8:14-17 (NKJV) For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

Many people go through life born into a famous family and enjoying all the rights and privileges of being born that way. Other's are born into a famous family and never enjoy any of the blessing because of ignorance or just plain rebellion.

We as Children of God are adopted into a very famous family, the family of God, and we have a right to all the privileges that comes with it. The same way, in the natural a person can be ignorant of his rights and privileges, it can be the same for us, Children of God.

God has given us His Word which is His Will and Testament and we can have anything that this Will says we can have. When a person die's and leave an estate to someone, it's up to that person to read the Will so he can find out what he inherited. Same with us as children of God, we have inherited a great and vast inheritance, and as we take time to read the legal documents, The Bible, we can see all the wealth that God has for us. The wealth of spiritual and natural things.

[spirit of bondage again to fear] We have not received a spirit of slavery to live again in fear and terror, but we have received the Spirit of freedom and sonship that break's every bondage.

Hebrews 2:14-15 (NKJV) Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

[the Spirit of adoption] We have received the Spirit and nature of God.

Romans 8:11 (NKJV) But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

Adoption, Sonship, Adopted children share the same rights and privileges as one born in the family.

Who was the one born in the family. Jesus.

Galatians 4:4-6 (NKJV) But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. 6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!”

Romans 8:23 (NKJV) Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.

Again, Adopted sons share the same rights and privileges as one born in the family. [Abba, Father] Slaves were never allowed to say Abba to a master.

We today are not slaves of God, we are sons and daughters of God.

Galatians 3:29-4:7 (NKJV)

29 And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. 4:1 Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all, 2 but is under guardians and stewards until the time appointed by the father. 3 Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world. 4 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. 6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” 7 Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

God has preordained this for us.

Ephesians 1:5-14 (NKJV) having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. 7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace 8 which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, 9 having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, 10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him. 11 In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, 12 that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory. 13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

Start seeing yourself not as a slave of God but a Child of God.

1 John 3:1-3 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. 2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.
