Summary: All the events of this world is working toward one thing and that is the day when Jesus Himself will come and take His place upon the throne of David.

Thy Kingdom Come

Revelation 11:15-19

We saw read last week in the first few verses of this chapter the Lord telling John to measure the Temple and all that was therein.

Through all the events of this world the question that is often asked is “What is God doing?”

The answer to that question is given to us here in verse 15 of this eleventh chapter of Revelation.

“The kingdoms of the world are become the kingdoms of our Lord”

The LORD is preparing for the day in which His Son shall come and rule and reign on this earth.

See: 2 Samuel 7:12-13, 16-17 God promises to establish the throne of David for ever

See: Isaiah 9:6-7 No end upon the throne of David and upon his kingdom

Mention: Psalms 22:28 For the kingdoms is the LORD’S for He is the governor among the nations

There are several things that are evident when we consider the kingdom of God

1. The Return of Christ

Psalms 110:1 The LORD said unto my Lord, sit thou at my right hand, until I make thy enemies thy footstool.

See: Acts 1:10-11 This verse speaks of the return of Jesus in like manner as He departed

Point: The correct reference to this is the second coming of Jesus the Christ

There are doubters that say I do not believe in such an event!

Mention: Isaiah 7:14 The fulfilling of a 739 years old prophecy concerning His first coming

Mention: Psalms 22:1, 34:20, 41:9 The 1,000 years old prophecy about His death at His first coming.

Mention: Zechariah 9:9 triumphant ride, 11:12-13 His betrayal for thirty pieces of silver at 520 BC

Daniel 9:25-27 the writing of Daniel foretelling the day He would die hundreds of years in advance.

This is overwhelming evidence of the scriptures that as He came the first time to fulfill the prophecies He will also return to fulfill these remaining prophecies.

“He shall reign for ever and ever”

2. The Reasoning of the Jews

See: Luke 24:13-24 These two disciples sadden over the crucifixion of Jesus spoke of their hope the redemption of Israel

Mention: Matt. 21:9 The cry of “Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest”

And: Acts 1:3-7 The disciples hope for the kingdom to be established at that time

“It is not for you to know the times or the seasons…”

3. The Reign of the Saints

See: Rev. 11:16-17 Thou hast taken to thee thy great power and hast reigned

See: 2 Tim. 2:11-12 The promises of reigning with Him

And: Revelation 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection…and shall reign with Him a thousand years.

Mention: Matt. 25:21 Well done thou good and faithful servant thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things.

What will the earth be like at that time?

Mention: Isaiah 11 & 65 There will be peace, no more killing and everything will be as it was in the Eden state. All of mankind and animals will eat vegetation.

This will be a remarkable time as there will be those on earth in fleshly bodies and we that will come to reign with Christ for a thousand years in celestial bodies and given certain responsibilities.

4. The Rebellion of Man

See: Revelation 11:18 The nations were angry…

See: Psalms 2:1-11 Mankind believes he is in rule of this earth and has no desire unto the rule of God.

“And the time of the dead, that they should be judged”

At the return of the Lord He will judge the dead at the completion of the millennial reign.

Mention: Matt. 24:36-51 As the days of Noah were…

It was it the days of Noah that the wicked was taken and the righteous left to inherit the earth and so shall it be when Christ returns.

5. The Replica in Heaven

See: Rev. 11:19 There in heaven is the temple of God and the ark of His testament

The lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail are what results on earth.

The result of this perhaps when we consider the lightning, thundering and earthquake is the LORD speaking.
