Matthew 28:19-20
Christ calls everyone to ministry. If you are a believer in Christ, then you have a calling on your life for ministry. Not necessarily to be a pastor but to play an active role in the ministry of the church.
Each person’s calling may be different but there are some things that each of our life ministries should do.
1.) Make Christ’s love real for the people in your life’s circle..
a. Each person has a certain circle. Some circles over lap, but no one has the exact same circle.
2.) Share with others the grace you have received.
a. Revelation 12:11 And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.
b. When we tell people about what God has done for us. It gives them hope of what God can do for them.
3.) Do your part in impacting the world.
a. You may not can make a difference in every person’s life, but you CAN make an impact in a few.
Christ gives you the responsibility to carry forward his ministry of love in the world. The Great Commission wasn’t just for the 12 disciples. The Great Commission is for all believers everywhere. You are a part of a great calling. You must play your part in the priesthood of all believers.
• The priesthood of all believers are the people who represent God’s love in the world.
o A priest is a person who represents God’s love to the world.
A priest is not just a preacher. It is someone who has experienced God’s grace and friendship and who helps others experience God’s love too.
o Jesus is the great high priest and modeled how we should live our lives. All believers share in Christ’s priesthood. So like Christ we give ourselves to make God’s love real to people, to help them experience God’s love and grace.
• As soon as you became a Christian, you were given a mission. Each person’s mission may look different but there are some important things you need to remember about your mission.
o Keep it personal; start with yourself and be real. Don’t be fake with people.
o Keep it spiritual. Spiritual is not worldy.
Sometimes being a Christian means going against the world.
“What is popular is not always right. What is right is not always popular.” – Albert Einstein
o Your mission must be servant-oriented.
People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care.
• You cannot reach others for Christ. You cannot make disciples of people you do not know and that do not know you. Get to know people.
o Your mission is shared.
You cannot do this thing on your own. A hand is useless without fingers and fingers are useless without hands. The body of Christ MSUT work together.
o Your mission requires your best.
We are humans and we are going to make mistakes. But we must wake up every morning, willing to give it all we’ve got.
So what is your mission? Right now? At this age, at this point in your life. What is your mission? We’ve already established that if you are a believer, you have a mission so what is it?
It is to be the hands and feet of Christ. Where ever you are. In the band room, in the gym, on the field, at the movies, in the lunch room, in ISS. No matter where you find yourself, you are to be the hands and feet of Christ.
You see there are students in your schools that do not know about God’s love. They’ve either never been told, but more importantly, they’ve never been shown.
You may be the only chance some people will ever have to hear about Jesus.
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. 3And they were calling to one another:
“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty;
the whole earth is full of his glory.”
4At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.
5“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty.”
6Then one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”
8Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
Tonight, God is searching to and fro looking for someone to go for him. He is looking for someone to be his hands and feet.
What will your response be? Will you answer the call?
