I. EXORDIUM:

Are you rejoicing?

II. AUDIENCE PROFILE:

Believers

III. OBJECTIVES:

To show the Person and the Reason why we rejoice.

Psalms 33:1 (Amplified Bible)

REJOICE IN the Lord, O you [uncompromisingly] righteous [you upright in right standing with God]; for praise is becoming and appropriate for those who are upright [in heart].

V. THESIS:

We rejoice in the LORD JESUS CHRIST.

VI. TITLE:

Reasons to rejoice

VII. EXPLICATION:

B. Date written: c. 1440 B.C. to 450 B.C.

C. Purpose: for praise and worship, either private or publicly done

D. To whom written: sometimes to GOD, sometimes to author himself

E. Main themes: prayer and praise

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. We are made righteous by GOD

"REJOICE IN the Lord, O you [uncompromisingly] righteous [you upright in right standing with God];"

Psalms 118:15 (Amplified Bible)

The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents and private dwellings of the [uncompromisingly] righteous: the right hand of the Lord does valiantly and achieves strength!

Romans 3:10 (Amplified Bible)

As it is written, None is righteous, just and truthful and upright and conscientious, no, not one.

Romans 5:19 (Amplified Bible)

For just as by one man’s disobedience (failing to hear, heedlessness, and carelessness) the many were constituted sinners, so by one Man’s obedience the many will be constituted righteous (made acceptable to God, brought into right standing with Him).

We rejoice because what's impossible with men are made possible for us by GOD.

Matthew 19:26 (Amplified Bible)

But Jesus looked at them and said, With men this is impossible, but all things are possible with God.

Genesis 18:14 (Amplified Bible)

Is anything too hard or too wonderful for the Lord? At the appointed time, when the season [for her delivery] comes around, I will return to you and Sarah shall have borne a son.

B. Uncountable things done to us by GOD

" for praise is becoming and appropriate "

We rejoiced in the Blessor not the blessings, the Healer not the healing, the Giver not the gifts, the Saviour and not the things He can save us from. We rejoiced in the Person of the LORD JESUS CHRIST.

Psalms 37:4 (Amplified Bible)

Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.

C. We are made obedient by Grace

"appropriate for those who are upright [in heart]. "

It's one thing to be obedient in the Old Testament and another thing to be made obedient by Grace in the New Testament. While in the Old Covenant need to prove themselves to GOD first by obeying, we no longer do that, because Someone already done that for us and on our behalf in the New Covenant and that is our LORD JESUS CHRIST who became obedient even unto death.

Philippians 2:8 (Amplified Bible)

And after He had appeared in human form, He abased and humbled Himself [still further] and carried His obedience to the extreme of death, even the death of the cross!

Galatians 2:20 (Amplified Bible)

I have been crucified with Christ [in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ (the Messiah) lives in me; and the life I now live in the body I live by faith in (by adherence to and reliance on and complete trust in) the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

IX. CONCLUSION:

Psalms 37:4 (Amplified Bible)

Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.

So many reasons and yet they are wrapped in One Person - the LORD JESUS CHRIST
