Mark 18:28-30

“28 One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” 29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’

I. GOD’S LOVE

1. LOVE GOD FOR WHAT HE PLANNED

i. He loved us before we were born

ii. He loves us just as we are

iii. He loves us as His children

2. LOVE GOD FOR WHO HE IS

i. He loves us even though we have sinned

ii. He loves us even though we are far away

iii. He loves us that His plans still remain faithful

II. OUR LOVE

1. Love God with our hearts – describes the love of man

i. Emotions

1. One of the five instincts in men

2. We are driven by our emotions

3. When we give ourselves, we are committed

2. With all your soul

i. Emotions, conscience, memory, imagination and reasoning

1. This is the all of man

2. We are the soul not the body

3. I, the soul, with all “emotions, conscience, memory, imagination and reasoning will love God

3. With all your mind

i. Our mind is a carnal mind

ii. We need to renew our mind

iii. God gives us a renewed mind

4. With all your strength

i. It involves our will power

ii. It is limited because of our sinful nature

iii. We need the strength of the Lord

iv. I can do all things through Christ
