Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

B. What Is Success?

1. It is not financial security.

(Mark. 8:36) For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

2. Fame and popularity are both fleeting.

(1 John 2:17) And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

3. Success is living in the will of God.

(1 John 2:17) And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

C. How To Have God's Direction In All We Do?

A. RECEIVE THE SON OF GOD

1. "Trusts in the Lord with all thine heart"

2.God's formula for success with begins faith

a. Trust= faith or "believe"

b. "Trust in the Lord "occurs 152 times in the Old Testament

c. Equivalent to "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ"

3. Success begins with being born again.

(John 3:3-5) Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

a. Nicodemus , though successful , needed salvation

b. He was a religious ruler but was lost

B. READ THE WORD OF GOD

1. "Lean not to thine own understanding"

2.Human understanding is limited and often faulty

a. Our learning has not brought key answers to life

b. You can be educated but miss the truth.

(2 Tim. 3:7) Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

3. The Bible gives God's view of life

a. It imparts wisdom (Ps. 119:99)

b. It gives understand (Ps. 119:104)

c. It brings light (Ps. 119:130)

d. It builds faith (Rom .10:17).

4. No success apart from applying God's Word to life.

C. RECOGNISE THE HAND OF GOD

1. "In all thy ways acknowledge him"

2. God is at work in all events in our lives

a. "All things are of God "

(2 Cor. 5:18) And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

b. "All things work together for good "

(Rom. 8:28) And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

3. See God's hand in everything

a. This will remove anxiety and increase joy

b. This will make you a positive praising person

Conclusion

1. We must begin with faith

2. We must make choices in faith

3. We must dare to take steps of faith.
