AND HOLD OURSELVES ACCOUNTABLE?

PROGRESS REPORT... REPORT CARD...

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

DO WE PRACTICE JUDGMENT? SELF JUDGMENT?

Self-evaluation? If we correct our selves, we need no other correction.

I. LET ME HOLD MYSELF ACCOUNTABLE AND EVALUATE MY ATTITUDES IN THE

HOUSE OF THE HOLY GOD...

A. God gives three items that he will hold us accountable...

We need to address this issues before we get to the BEAMMA SEAT of GOD.

1. TIME

2. TALENT

3. ENERGY

Where we spend these three issues will DEFINE WHO WE REALLY ARE...

Leviticus 19:30 (KJV) Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary:

I am the LORD.

B. WATCH YOUR STEP WHEN YOU ARE AT GOD'S HOUSE...

ENTER TO LEARN...

Ecclesiastes 5:1 (KJV) Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more

ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.

Ecclesiastes 5:1 (NLT) As you enter the house of God, keep your ears open and your mouth

shut. It is evil to make mindless offerings to God.

Ecclesiastes 5:1 (MSG) Watch your step when you enter God's house. Enter to learn.

That's far better than mindlessly offering a sacrifice, Doing more harm than good.

Ecclesiastes 5:1 (NIV) Guard your steps when you go to the house of God. Go near to listen

rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools, who do not know that they do wrong.

C. STUDY, HONNEST EFFORT,

Work, exertion of power, serious attempt, , exert by trying... effective...

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be

ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

D. DO YOU EVALUATE AND HOLD YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE IN THE AREAS:

1. TIME ???????????

2. TALENT ???????????

3. ENERGY ???????????

II. EVALUATION, HOLD SELF ACCOUNTABLE --- LOVE BECOMES THE TESTING ZONE.

WHO YOU LOVE THE LEAST IS HOW MUCH YOU LOVE JESUS THE MOST...

A. BY THIS SHALL MEN KNOW THAT YOU BELONG TO GOD...

John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved

you, that ye also love one another.

35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

B. THE GREATEST COMMANDMENT...

Mark 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and

with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none

other commandment greater than these.

C. LOVE FEEDS

John 21:16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me?

He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

D. LOVE TO GOD IS PROVEN BY LOVE TO BROTHERS

1 John 4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not

his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

E. LOVE IS THE MEASURE, THE STANDARD...

John 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

F. AS THE DIP STICK CHECKS THE OIL, LOVE CHECKS YOUR RELATIONSHIP

WITH JESUS.

III. SPEAKING OF SELF-EVALUATION...

A LOCAL PASTOR WAS THINKING ABOUT RUDE BEHAVIOR IN THE CHURCH...

HE DECIDED TO ASK HIS PEOPLE TO FILL OUT A QUESTION-AIRE ABOUT CHURCH

EDIQUITTE? HERE IS HIS LIST...

Ecclesiastes 12:13 (KJV) Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his

commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good,

or whether it be evil.

A. DO YOU THINK GOD CAN SEE INSIDE A CHURCH...

We live is a distracted culture... being rude to God?

A question-aire was given to church attenders as to what annoyed them most in a church

service.

B. 10 rudest things people do in church?

1. Talking, whispering during the service?

2. Texting, surfing the web, and playing video games...phone, game...

3. Sleeping --- or snoring --- during the service.

4. Clipping fingernails during the service... (opening a nail kit.)

5. The phone rings and answer and walk out during service.

6. Constantly get up and leave auditorium, presumably to use the rest room.

7. Not praying at prayer time and leaving early during prayer...

8. Letting babies cry incessantly in service.

9. Chewing gum, smacking gum, opening candy... Drinking beverages

10. Public displays of affection, kissing, back rubs...

Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (MSG) The last and final word is this: Fear God. Do what he tells you.

14 And that's it. Eventually God will bring everything that we do out into the open and judge it

according to its hidden intent, whether it's good or evil.

Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (NIV) Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter:

Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole [duty] of man.

14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good

or evil.

Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (NLT) That’s the whole story. Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God

and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty.

14 God will judge us for everything we do, including every secret thing, whether good or bad.

IV. "ROLL CALL" ... THE TIME OF ACCOUNTABILITY... HONEST EVALUATION OF

MY ATTENDANCE RECORD...

EVER WATCH A MILITARY MOVIE, THE SOLDIERS LINE UP AND THE

"ROLL CALL" OCCURS AT THE END OF THE DAY:

1 Corinthians 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

A. We live in a day when many things DEMAND our TIME and our ENERGY.

Show me where you spend your 1. Time, 2. Talent, 3. Energy ...

B. THESE 3 EXPEDITURES DEFINE YOUR VALUE SYSTEM...

C. WE NEED TO EVALUATE OUR BIG 3 EXPEDITURES...

Psalm 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell

in the house of the LORD for ever.

D. Today many churches are changing their CORE VALUE SYSTEMS...

1. We have churches that devalue Sunday School and they DELETE that...

2. Because of SCHEDULING ISSUES WEDNESDAY NIGHT'S worship and prayer

becomes UN- EXPENDABLE...

3. Many church DELETE Sunday night TO MAKE THEIR CORE VALUE

small groups and FAMILY NIGHT... The Mormon church makes Monday night

family night?

Psalm 26:8 LORD, I have loved the habitation of thy house, and the place where thine

honour dwelleth.

4. We find the spirit of compromise and busyness that some churches have

ELIMATED SUNDAY MORNING WORSHIP AS NEEDED TO DELEGATE THE

SUNDAY AM SERVICE AS OPTIONAL AND ONCE A MONTH FITS MY SCHEDULE...

AND THUS WE DELETE AM SERVICES TO 1 OUT OF 4.

5. Today we have some churches that define it so hard to get ready and they forget

which Sunday is worship... THE VALUE SYSTEM IS SO COMPROMISED THAT

THEY HAVE SO MOVED SUNDAY MORNING WORSHIP TO ONE SUNDAY A YEAR.

They do not have to be concerned with the WEATHER or the LOST.

E. WE ARE TRENDING TO COMPROMISE THE CHURCH AND THE WORD OF GOD

WE CAN JUSTIFY OUR ATTENDANCE RECORDS BY GOING ALONG WITH THE

SPIRITUAL TRENDS OF THE CROWDS...

Psalm 27:4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the

house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire

in his temple.

F. I do not have to come up with an EXCUSE IF WE DO NOT HAVE CHURCH SERVICES...

THE LOST AND DYING WILL HAVE TO CONFORM TO US...

Psalm 84:10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in

the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

Psalm 122:1 I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.

V. EVALUATE THIS: AM I KEEPING GOD'S COMMANDMENTS...

AM I WILLINGLY BREAKING HIS LAWS AND HIS HEART.

Deuteronomy 11:27 A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which

I command you this day:

John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and

he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

John 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my

Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

VI. ARE WE LIVING INSIDE OR OUTSIDE THE PLAN OF GOD?

WHERE WILL WE BE ON THE ARK?

A. THE CROWD WILL BE OUTSIDE MOCKING UNTIL THE RAIN IS ABOUT KNEE

DEEP...

B. God closed the door...

THE CROWD INSIDE THE ARK: DID THINGS GOD'S WAY...

Matthew 24:38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying

and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

C. LISTEN TO THE NOISE OUTSIDE THE ARK?

LISTEN TO THE 8 PEOPLE INSIDE THE ARK?

D. Listen my friends...

Hebrews 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared

an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the

righteousness which is by faith.

1 Peter 3:20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in

the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved

by water.

2 Peter 2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness,

bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

CONCLUSION: DO WE PRACTICE JUDGMENT? SELF JUDGMENT?

Self-evaluation? If we correct our selves, we need no other correction.

Matthew 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.

2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete,

it shall be measured to you again.
