Proverbs 15:15 (Amplified Bible)

15:15 All the days of the desponding and afflicted are made evil [by anxious thoughts and forebodings], but he who has a glad heart has a continual feast [regardless of circumstances].

Proverbs 15:15 (King James Version)

15:15 All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.

Matthew 25:21 (Amplified Bible)

25:21 His master said to him, Well done, you upright (honorable, admirable) and faithful servant! You have been faithful and trustworthy over a little; I will put you in charge of much. Enter into and share the joy (the delight, the blessedness) which your master enjoys.

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. Evil days are for the afflicted

"All the days of the afflicted are evil:"

Unbelievers worry and are anxious for everything in his/her life. He/she thoughts about what to eat, what to drink and what to wear. Their thoughts are evil in GOD's eyes because GOD can't see Himself in their thoughts.

Afflicted or "aniy" in Hebrew means:

1. depressed in mind and circumstance

2. humble, lowly, needy, poor

Evil or "ra raah" in Hebrew means:

1. bad

2. calamity

Proverbs 15:15 (Amplified Bible)

15:15 All the days of the desponding and afflicted are made evil [by anxious thoughts and forebodings], but he who has a glad heart has a continual feast [regardless of circumstances].

Philippians 4:6 (Amplified Bible)

4:6 Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.

Matthew 6:31-33 (Amplified Bible)

6:31 Therefore do not worry and be anxious, saying, What are we going to have to eat? or, What are we going to have to drink? or, What are we going to have to wear?

6:32 For the Gentiles (heathen) wish for and crave and diligently seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows well that you need them all.

6:33 But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.

Matthew 6:25-30 (Amplified Bible)

6:25 Therefore I tell you, stop being perpetually uneasy (anxious and worried) about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink; or about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life greater [in quality] than food, and the body [far above and more excellent] than clothing?

6:26 Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father keeps feeding them. Are you not worth much more than they?

6:27 And who of you by worrying and being anxious can add one unit of measure (cubit) to his stature or to the span of his life?

6:28 And why should you be anxious about clothes? Consider the lilies of the field and learn thoroughly how they grow; they neither toil nor spin.

6:29 Yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his magnificence (excellence, dignity, and grace) was not arrayed like one of these.

6:30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and green and tomorrow is tossed into the furnace, will He not much more surely clothe you, O you of little faith?

I remember my bible college instructor saying "It's only in the mind." It took me years to understand it. Now I grasp it. Your status in life here on earth fully depended on what you are thinking. If you think you are poor, then you are, if you think you are rich and super-abundantly provided by GOD, then you are.

Proverbs 23:7 (Amplified Bible)

23:7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. As one who reckons, he says to you, eat and drink, yet his heart is not with you [but is grudging the cost].

Psalms 15:2 (Amplified Bible)

15:2 He who walks and lives uprightly and blamelessly, who works rightness and justice and speaks and thinks the truth in his heart,

Human beings are not made by GOD to carry burdens, worries and cares of this world, we are made to worship GOD in our thoughts.

1 Peter 5:7 (Amplified Bible)

5:7 Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.

Psalms 55:22 (Amplified Bible)

55:22 Cast your burden on the Lord [releasing the weight of it] and He will sustain you; He will never allow the [consistently] righteous to be moved (made to slip, fall, or fail).

Worship the LORD in your thoughts and mind.

Hebrews 12:2 (Amplified Bible)

12:2 Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Romans 5:11 (Amplified Bible)

5:11 Not only so, but we also rejoice and exultingly glory in God [in His love and perfection] through our Lord Jesus Christ, through Whom we have now received and enjoy [our] reconciliation.

Jeremiah 9:24 (Amplified Bible)

9:24 But let him who glories glory in this: that he understands and knows Me [personally and practically, directly discerning and recognizing My character], that I am the Lord, Who practices loving-kindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth, for in these things I delight, says the Lord.

Serve the LORD with all mind and heart.

1 Chronicles 28:9 (Amplified Bible)

28:9 And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father [have personal knowledge of Him, be acquainted with, and understand Him; appreciate, heed, and cherish Him] and serve Him with a blameless heart and a willing mind. For the Lord searches all hearts and minds and understands all the wanderings of the thoughts. If you seek Him [inquiring for and of Him and requiring Him as your first and vital necessity] you will find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever!

What I do is this: if my mind is focus on our payables and loans, I quickly leave that thought and focus on the LORD, I pray in tongues.

Philippians 4:7 (Amplified Bible)

4:7 And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Luke 21:34 (Amplified Bible)

21:34 But take heed to yourselves and be on your guard, lest your hearts be overburdened and depressed (weighed down) with the giddiness and headache and nausea of self-indulgence, drunkenness, and worldly worries and cares pertaining to [the business of] this life, and [lest] that day come upon you suddenly like a trap or a noose;

Proverbs 4:23 (Amplified Bible)

4:23 Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life.

B. The merry heart has a continual feast

"but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast."

The secret is have a merry heart or be content - better than an endless feast.

Philippians 4:4 (Amplified Bible)

4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always [delight, gladden yourselves in Him]; again I say, Rejoice!

Psalms 37:4 (Amplified Bible)

37:4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.

1 Peter 4:13 (Amplified Bible)

4:13 But insofar as you are sharing Christ’s sufferings, rejoice, so that when His glory [full of radiance and splendor] is revealed, you may also rejoice with triumph [exultantly].

Proverbs 17:22 (Amplified Bible)

17:22 A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.

Proverbs 12:25 (Amplified Bible)

12:25 Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, but an encouraging word makes it glad.

Proverbs 15:13 (Amplified Bible)

15:13 A glad heart makes a cheerful countenance, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken.

Illustration:

Years ago back in college days, there's a young woman who always cries for everything yet she accepted the LORD in her heart, I thought this will be a good leader for she's always broken-hearted in everything, for me back in those days if you're broken hearted you are a humble person, but it annoys me that she always cries everything unto me, then I told her 1 Peter 5:7 to cast all her cares to the LORD for the LORD cares for her. So I left her alone, and she continues to grow in the LORD as a bible study leader, weeks later I never saw her again in the services, and latest news she belonged to a cult. What happened? She never casted her cares and burdens to the LORD, she never rejoiced of the LORD's victory for her.

A church before capitalizes and majored in "brokenness" according to that church, "a broken heart is anointing" so they wipe scented oils in their eyes before commissioning and laying hands on a person, they have to be broken enough, crying, moaning and crying bitterly before they lay hands, I left them alone. It's time to rejoice because of the LORD's victory.

Have you seen a person in your church, where that person is always sad and afflicted it's like carrying the whole world in their shoulders, they tend to be anxious and not celebrate. Remind them of the song, "He's got the whole world in His hands.."

IX. CONCLUSION:

Nehemiah 8:10 (Amplified Bible)

8:10 Then [Ezra] told them, Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet drink, and send portions to him for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. And be not grieved and depressed, for the joy of the Lord is your strength and stronghold.

Everything is all right if your heart is rejoicing in the LORD. All sadness is according to your circumstances, but all rejoicing is in the reason of the LORD. It's a difficult, hard and sad thing to live in this world but we choose to rejoice in the LORD. There's always a choice and an option for the children of GOD.

Praise, worship and thank You very much LORD JESUS for You are our Joy and we rejoice in the LORD not according to our circumstances or sad thoughts but in the LORD JESUS CHRIST. We share in the Joy of the LORD and it's our strength and stronghold.
