Revelation 13: 1 – 10
Scripture Reveals The Identity Of The Antichrist
1 Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name. 2 Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority. 3 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. 4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” 5 And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months. 6 Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven. 7 It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation. 8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. 9 If anyone has an ear, let him hear. 10 He who leads into captivity shall go into captivity; he who kills with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
I want to also include for our study chapter 17 verses 1 through 18.
1 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, 2 with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication.” 3 So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication. 5 And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. 6 I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement. 7 But the angel said to me, “Why did you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns. 8 The beast that you saw was, and is not, and will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go to perdition. And those who dwell on the earth will marvel, whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. 9 “Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits. 10 There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come. And when he comes, he must continue a short time. 11 The beast that was, and is not, is himself also the eighth, and is of the seven, and is going to perdition. 12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. 14 These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.” 15 Then he said to me, “The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues. 16 And the ten horns which you saw onfn the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire. 17 For God has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose, to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled. 18 And the woman whom you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth.”
Many teachers need to be honest when it comes to teaching the book of Revelation and just say, ‘I haven’t a clue’.
The book of Revelation is a ‘revelation’ of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is not a mystery. Our Holy Master and King Adoni Yeshua, our Lord Jesus Christ told us that He no longer calls us servants but ‘friends’ for He said that He reveals all that the Father has told Him to say to us. So, if you and I are His friends don’t you think that we should know what all the Scriptures mean?
I like to consider our Holy Bibles as a jig saw puzzle. If you take the various Scriptures into account you will ultimately find the answer you are seeking. So, with this assurance from our Precious Holy Spirit we will together from Scripture identify who the Antichrist is.
Now first of all you need to ask yourself this question, ‘Do you really want to identify who this person is no matter what it reveals?’
We are going to look at a lot of the clues our Great Holy Ghost lists. Then at the end we will put them all together and you have to come up with the answer. I will not tell you. It should be quite evident who the Antichrist is. So, here we go with clue #1.
Clue # 1 - The Beast = a kingdom
In the book of Daniel 7 chapter 23 we learn this, “Thus he said: ‘The fourth beast shall be a fourth kingdom on earth, which shall be different from all other kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, trample it and break it in pieces.
Clue # 2 - The Antichrist & The Beast are not the same
The Beast is a kingdom. The Antichrist is a person – ‘And authority was given him’
So far we see that a kingdom or nation has: [ clue 3 ]
1. A specific headquarters [ie – Location]
2. A person who is in charge = Antichrist
Clue # 4 - The Antichrist is not Satan
We see that ‘The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority.
Clue # 5 - The Antichrist’s Kingdom is universal [It affects people from all parts in the world]
‘“The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues.”
In other words this kingdom which exists today has influence, power, and control over people all over the world. It is universal in its reach
Clue # 6 – The Beast [Kingdom] has incorporated 4 of the worlds previous kingdoms
Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion
The Beast of Revelation 13 has all 4 former Kingdoms listed in the book of Daniel chapter 7 in it. The Beast has incorporated the 4 kingdoms that were before it
Clue # 7 - Seven Heads
“Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits.”
Although the Antichrist’s kingdom affects people throughout the whole world, it’s headquarters is located in one spot, that takes up 7 hills.
Clue # 8 The Kingdom [Beast] promotes a false religion
‘And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast’
What does the symbol of ‘woman’ represent? It is a false religion/ church
So we see a corrupt church or false religion functioning in this kingdom [beast]
Clue # 9 – The Antichrist is the 8th Ruler/Monarch of The Beast [kingdom]
‘The beast that was, and is not, is himself also the eighth, and is of the seven, and is going to perdition’ [hell]
The Antichrist is the 8th ruler who follows the 7th king or Monarch who was in charge for only a short time
Clue # 10 – The Antichrist has 10 Cabinet Assistants = Heads/Horns
“The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast “These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast.”
The 10 horns are 10 leaders who work for the Antichrist in his kingdom. They are appointed by the Antichrist to be in charge of some specific areas. They are given a title of high authority [ kings] but have no real power or positions [ They do not have any kingdom yet they are given high recognition in the Antichrist’s kingdom]. The Antichrist is going to promote them as co- rulers with him for a short time [one hour] in the future.
Clue # 11 – The Antichrist and his Special Assistants wear different clothes than regular people.
The leaders like to wear clothes, ‘arrayed in purple and scarlet’
Clue # 12 – The Kingdom of the Antichrist is very wealthy.
It has so much wealth that everything in the headquarters are ‘adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls.’
Clue # 13 The Antichrist wears a crown consisting of many crowns along with a mitre that his assistants wear –‘ and on his horns ten crowns.’
The crowns are referred with a few names such as tiara, diadem, mitre, turban.
The Antichrist is a copy cat of what took place in the bible. We read in the book of Exodus chapter 28, “You shall also make a plate of pure gold and engrave on it, like the engraving of a signet: HOLINESS TO THE LORD. And you shall put it on a blue cord, that it may be on the turban; it shall be on the front of the turban.
Clue 14 - The Antichrist’s Crown has an inscription Blaspheming The Lord Most High –‘ ‘on his heads a blasphemous name’. Antichrist =The word 'anti' means an opponent and substitute while the word 'christos' means the 'messiah‘, ‘Christ’ or One Anointed.
So, what do you think it says?
I believe it says ‘Vicar of Christ’ that is described as a person who acts in the place of another.” Someone who serves "as a substitute. Implies that he has the same power and authority that our Lord Jesus Christ has over the church.
Clue # 15 – Blasphemes God ‘5 And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies’
A question you need to know is ‘What Is Blasphemy?’
One, it speaks about a man claiming to be God
John 10 31 , Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him. 32 Jesus answered them, “Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone Me?” 33 The Jews answered Him, saying, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God.”
Secondly it talks about a human claiming the right and ability to be able to forgive sin. As you know, only God can forgive sins
Matthew 9, 1 So He got into a boat, crossed over, and came to His own city. 2 Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.” 3 And at once some of the scribes said within themselves, “This Man blasphemes!” 4 But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts? 5 For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise and walk’? 6 But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—then He said to the paralytic, “Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” 7 And he arose and departed to his house.
Thirdly, it is anyone who accepts worship and the glory due only to God Almighty. It is appropriating God’s Glory for oneself
Isaiah 42 “I am the LORD, that is My name; and My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to carved images.
Clue # 16 - Persecuted Christians – ‘7 It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them’
This was done to believers in the past, continues today, and also in the future.
Clue # 17 – The Antichrist and his kingdom [Beast] is considered and treated by his followers as someone and something special – ‘And all the world marveled and followed the beast.’
People in the world consider this kingdom and its ruler as something special – it and him are wonderful and astonishing.
Clue # 18 – The Antichrist will be given the same time our Lord Jesus ministered –
3 and ½ years to do his evil- ‘and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months.’
Clue # 19 - No nation dares to fight him – ‘“Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him’ It is not because the Beast is a military power [Look at the US and understand as the world’s leading military power we are picked upon by desert nomads]. No one is willing to make war with the Antichrist and his kingdom because of the fact that they think that he is different than the rest of the world kingdoms.
Clue # 20 - One of the heads looked like it was mortally wounded. A mortal wound is a very severe and serious injury (almost always a form of penetration of the body.
Zechariah 11: 17” “Woe to the worthless shepherd, who leaves the flock! A sword shall be against his arm and against his right eye; His arm shall completely wither, and his right eye shall be totally blinded.”
Here arm denotes the power of truth applied to confirm evil, of which power, as it is worthless, it is said that withering it shall wither; and the right eye denotes the memory-knowledge of good applied to confirm falsity, of which knowledge, as it is worthless, it is said that darkening it shall be darkened; a shepherd denotes one who teaches truths, and by means of these leads to good; hence a worthless shepherd denotes one who teaches and leads to evil; arm denotes the power of truth from good; but the arm of a worthless shepherd denotes no power; the eye denotes the understanding and perception of truth; but the right eye of a worthless shepherd denotes the memory-knowledge of good without the understanding and perception of it, because it is applied to falsity; thick darkness denotes the falsity that is from evil
One of these 8 rulers ruling in the Beast [kingdom] was wounded by something that penetrated his body and he was near death, yet he recovered
So, let us put all the clues down on a list;
. The Beast = a kingdom
. The Antichrist & The Beast are not the same
. A kingdom or nation has
1. A specific headquarters [ie – Location] on 7 hills
2. A person who is in charge = Antichrist = 8th king/Monarch
. The Antichrist is not Satan
. The Antichrist’s Kingdom is universal
. The Kingdom [Beast] promotes a false religion
. The Antichrist and his Special Assistants wear different clothes than regular people
. The Kingdom of the Antichrist is very wealthy
. The Antichrist wears a crown consisting of many crowns and sometimes a mitre that his assistants wear
. The Antichrist’s Crown has an inscription on his crown Blaspheming The Lord Most High
. The Antichrist speaks ‘Blasphemes’against El Shaddai – Almighty God
. A man claiming to be God on earth. Claims that he is God’s substitute
. Saying he can forgive sins - Only God can forgive sins
. Accepting worship and praise due only to God – it is appropriating God’s Glory for oneself.
Now, can you identify who the Antichrist is?
