You Are Commissioned
Matthew 10:1-8
Matthew 10:1 And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. 2 Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; 3 Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; 4 Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him. 5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: 6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 And as ye go, preach , saying , The kingdom of heaven is at hand . 8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
Introduction: I want you to know this morning that you are a disciple of Christ!
1. Definition: disciple: One who embraces and assists in spreading the teachings of another.
John 13:35 “ By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another”
So when Jesus called out the 12 disciples he wasn’t stopping there. He called Joel, Lloyd LaMarsha, Connie, Leroy. I want you to know this morning that you are called!!
Well Pastor, what am I called to do? I’m glad you asked! By looking at our scripture this morning we will see what Jesus has called us to do. But before we go into that you and I must understand that he did not only call us but according to vs.1 He empowered us! ”he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.”
It is so important to us understand the gifts of the Holy Spirit. There are nine gifts of the Holy Spirit
1. The Word of Knowledge
2. The Word of Wisdom
3. The Gift of Prophecy
4. The Gift of Faith
5. The Gifts of Healings
6. The Working of Miracles
7. The Discerning of Spirits
8. Different Kinds of Tongues
9. The Interpretation of Tongues
I will not even defend whether or not they are for today. THEY ARE!
Get in the Word and learn about these gifts. They can be found in 1 Corinthians 12. Then get in a place and start seeking these gifts.
Luke 11:13” If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?”
If we are going to operate as Christ Disciples we must have POWER and that is what these are!!
OK so in our scripture here we see we are to GO! And we are also told what to DO!

Preach
We preach! What do we preach? The kingdom of heaven is at hand! Jesus is coming! You must be ready! My daughter was a disciple of Christ at a very early age. She was too young to read yet before she would go to church or come home from church she would preach. She would say Daddy please come to church Jesus is coming soon and I want you to be in heaven. I was visiting a person one day and his grandson who I know had never been to church at the age of five said Paw “Jesus is coming on a cloud like that one” as he pointed to the eastern sky.
Children have this faith to accomplish things that we as adults are failing at! Why?
We must scream to people Jesus is coming! Jesus is coming! Jesus is coming! And we must do it with power dunamis: (miraculous) power, what is dunamis power? It is Holy Ghost POWER!
physical power, force, might, ability, efficacy, energy, meaning (b) plur: powerful deeds, deeds showing (physical) power, marvelous works.
Not your strength but His! Zachariah 4:6: Not by might nor by power but by my spirit saith the Lord

Heal
8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead,
Come on Pastor can I really raise the dead? No! But Jesus in you can! Lazarus had been in the grave for three days and Jesus shouted with authority: Lazarus come forth. Do you know why he called him by name because if not every person that ever died would have come up out of that grave.
Do you know that one day very soon Jesus is going to appear in the eastern sky?
1 Thessalonians4:13 “But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”
Did you hear me? The Lord himself will descend from heaven and he will SHOUT: COME FORTH and every bible believing person that ever accepted Jesus as their Savior will erupt out of that grave!
Jesus said greater things than he did shall we shall do because he went to be with the Father!
Elisha raised a boy from the dead!
Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead!
A boy in Africa was raised from the dead after being dead for 24 HOURS, by the POWER OF GOD!! Many people in his village accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior, as a result, including the Dr. that worked on the boy before he died!

Cast Out Devils
Luke 10: 19 Behold , I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Let me make someone angry. The first place you should begin casting out devils is in your home.
Pornography is of the devil, violent video games is of the devil. Tell me how a God fearing man or woman play or allow their kids to play these games that spill so much blood and guts. How can you justify your child’s head getting filled with such violence? Music, if you or your children are listening to demon possessed music then you are allowing Satan himself into your heart!
And I know that there are people that are possessed with demons. Let me tell you something the devil is subject to the name of Jesus! You get baptized in the Holy Ghost and you start pleading the blood of Jesus over that demon possessed person and the demon will flee!

Give of Yourself
If you’re going to be used of God it will cost you something. As a matter of fact it will cost you everything. Salvation is free but to be a disciple of Christ! To be a soul winner! To be an anointed man or woman or child of God it will cost you! What is the cost of discipleship?
Luke 14:28-33 Jesus said, "For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it - lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, 'This man began to build and was not able to finish.' Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks conditions of peace. So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple".
Matthew 16:25-26"For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?"
Conclusion: Are you willing to pay the price? If you’re willing to pay the price. If you’re willing to do what Jesus has called you to do. If you’re ready to seek him for the gifts of the Holy Ghost then I want you to come up here. I need two lines.
If you’re baptized in the Holy Ghost I want you to line up on the left side of the church and Joel and Ramona will meet you and lay hands on you and commission you to go.
If you have not been baptized with the Holy Ghost I want you to line up ion the right hand side and we are going to seek the baptismal of the Holy Ghost. We need the Holy Ghost we need to tap into that dunimas power if we’re going to win this city!
