DEALING WITH THE FIVE KINGS --- THE ENEMIES OF GOD...

Introduction: 5 ports of entry feed a person, the five senses can be counter productive to
TRUSTING THE PLAN OF GOD.
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Psalm 20:7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name
of the LORD our God.
Psalm 37:3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily
thou shalt be fed.
I. THERE ARE TIMES THAT LIFE IS SO HEAVY, DEPRESSION AND MISERY SEEM
TO TRY TO LOCK US IN A PIT, A CAVE THAT CAN BECOME A DEATH PIT.
A. Sometimes life is like a CHERRY --- the PIT.
B. Joseph had a very vocal high opinion of himself...
C. A high self opinion tends to LOCK others out,
and KNOCK OTHERS DOWN...
Psalm 40:1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.
I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
[2] He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a
rock, and established my goings.
[3] And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it,
and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.
[4] Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor
such as turn aside to lies.
E. THOUGH LIFE TENDS TO TAKE US TO A HORRIBLE PIT ---
The pit is miry clay, slip -sliding away...
F. ANSWER THIS QUESTION: DO WE REALLY TRUST THE LORD?
Will out 5 senses and EMOTIONS release the WORDS and ATTITUDES THAT
SHOW OUR COMPLETE TRUST?
TRUSTING IN THE LORD'S PLAN WILL HELP US ARISE OUT OF THE DARK CAVE.
II. THERE WILL BE SEASONS OF TESTING THAT WILL TELL WHERE
OUR WORDS, DEEDS AND AND HEART AND TRUST REALLY LIE...
A. ONE OMER OF MANNA... test obedience.
B. UTTERLY DESTROY ALL THE ENEMIES...
if not you will fall in sin with them...
C. Saul says: I OBEYED the orders and destroyed all.
Samuel says: WHAT DO I HEAR?
III. IT IS EASIER TO SAY I TRUST THAN TO TRUST...
WE MUST DEVELOP A GET UP ATTITUDE... WE MUST GET UP... AND FACE OUR
GIANTS... WE MUST TRUST GOD THAT THE SAME PROBLEMS THAT KILL MANY
WILL MAKE US BETTER AND STRONGER
A. WE LEFT RUNNING IN FEAR... WE RAN DEFEATED...
Achan's sin brought defeat and a defeated attitude...
B. We must acknowledge, correct, repent of sin.
C. THERE IS A REAL PROMISE, WE MUST CLAIM IT...
Joshua 8:18 And the Lord said unto Joshua, Stretch out the spear that is in thy hand toward Ai;
for I will give it into thine hand. And Joshua stretched out the spear that he had in his hand toward
the city.
[19] And the ambush arose quickly out of their place, and they ran as soon as he had stretched
out his hand: and they entered into the city, and took it, and hasted and set the city on fire.
IV. WANT TO EVALUATE OUR TRUST?
JOSHUA SAW THE NEGATIVE CROWD RULE AND HINDERED THE 2 MILLION
PEOPLE FROM RECEIVING THEIR PROMISE...
WE HAVE COME TO A NEW DAY, THE PROMISE IS BEFORE US...
WE ARE FACING 5 KINGS, 5 WELL EQUIPED AND WELL TRAINED ARMIES
COME IN AN ALLIANCE AGAINST GOD'S PEOPLE AND THEIR PROMISE!
Joshua 10:5 Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of
Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon, gathered themselves
together, and went up, they and all their hosts, and encamped before Gibeon, and made
war against it.
[6] And the men of Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Slack not
thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the
kings of the Amorites that dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us.
A. God can INTERVENE and turn the BAD into Good... the whole world is against us...
B. THIS VICTORY WILL MAKE A TESTIMONY...
C. GOD'S POWER IS ABOVE HUMAN HAND'S ABILITY AND VISION.
D. ALL THIS TROUBLE IS NEITHER GOOD OR BAD... IT IS NEUTRAL...
IT IS WHAT WE DO WITH THIS TROUBLE.
Will this be a STUMBLING BLOCK or a STEPPING STONE?
V. JOSHUA LEARNED DO NOT GIVE CREDIANCE TO THE NEGATIVE CROWD...
WE MUST LEARN THE TOOLS GOD GIVES... listen to the Lord..
GOD IS GOING TO HELP US...
Joshua 10:8 And the Lord said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into
thine hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee.
A. Prayer is a great tool.
1. Crisis praying
2. Petition praying
3. PRAYING IN GOD'S PERFECT WILL... find God's will and submit
B. SOLOMON'S TEMPLE VERSES DAVID'S HEART--- THE ATTITUDE???
VI. IT IS TIME TO BELIEVE GOD AND PUT YOUR FOOT DOWN...
DO NOT FEAR THE 5 KINGS OPPOSING YOU... TRUST THE LORD GOD.
THE LORD LISTENED TO THE VOICE OF A MAN THAT SPOKE BY FAITH.
FEAR WAS DEFEATED THAT DAY.
A. God intervened... God used nature to help the soldiers...
B. IN GREAT BOLDNESS JOSHUA SPOKE... THE SPOKEN WORDS OF GOD'S BOLD
MAN... STOP THE SUN AND THE MOON...
Joshua 10:11 And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going
down to Beth-horon, that the Lord cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto
Azekah, and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the
children of Israel slew with the sword.
[12] Then spake Joshua to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before
the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon;
and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.
[13] And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves
upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the
midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.
[14] And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the Lord hearkened unto the
voice of a man: for the Lord fought for Israel.
VII. IN GREAT FEAR THE 5 MIGHTY KINGS RUN AND HIDE... THEY FELT SAFE IN
THE CAVE? WHERE THE ENEMY FELT SAFE BECAME THEIR TRAP...
A. THERE IS NO PLACE MAN CAN HIDE FROM GOD...
Joshua 10:16 But these five kings fled, and hid themselves in a cave at Makkedah.
B. WE DID NOT DO THIS, GOD DID...
Joshua 10:19 And stay ye not, but pursue after your enemies, and smite the hindmost of
them; suffer them not to enter into their cities: for the Lord your God hath delivered them
into your hand.
VIII. GO IN THE DARK CAVE...PUT YOUR FOOT DOWN...
THE FOOT APPLIED TO THE NECK OR HEAD IS A GREAT SIGN...
IT IS TIME TO PUT YOUR FOOT DOWN...
A. ALL THE NEGATIVITY OF DOUBT AND FEAR... WE GIVE YOU NOTIICE...
ALL THOSE THAT TRUSTED IN CHARIOTS AND SWORDS...

B. THE FORCES OF FEAR ARE ALWAYS COMING AGAINST THE MINDS OF GOD'S
PEOPLE.
Joshua 10:24 And it came to pass, when they brought out those kings unto Joshua, that
Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said unto the captains of the men of war which
went with him, Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings. And they
came near, and put their feet upon the necks of them.
Joshua 10:25 And Joshua said unto them, Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of
good courage: for thus shall the Lord do to all your enemies against whom ye fight.
C. WHY WOULD GOD TELL THEM TO PUT THEIR FOOT DOWN ON THE ENEMY...??
IX. THE 5 KINGS ARE SYMBOLIC OF A MAN'S THINKING AND HIS FIVE SENSES...
OUR 5 SENSES ARE VERY PRONED TO NEGATIVITY...
WE MUST BRING IN SUBJECTION.
A. 5 senses: eyes, ears, mouth, nose and sense of touch.
B. IF--- THEN TAKE CONTROL
1. EYES... what you see
2. RIGHT HAND OFFEND ... what you do?
3. FOOT--- where you go....
1 Cor. 9:26-27 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
[27] But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when
I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
C. JESUS PUTS HIS FOOT TO THE DEVIL'S HEAD...
Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed
and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
CONCLUSION:
We must not allow the FIVE KINGS OF OUR EMOTIONS breed fear and doubt.
God can!
Let us put our foot on the enemy's head, he is defeated, we are victors...
