I. EXORDIUM:

Are you faithful in much? Yes, I'm faithful in the least because I'm a believer.

II. AUDIENCE PROFILE:

Believers

III. OBJECTIVES:

To show that being faithful and being dishonest has nothing to do with how big or small you are handling.

IV. TEXT:

Luke 16:10 (Amplified Bible)

16:10 He who is faithful in a very little [thing] is faithful also in much, and he who is dishonest and unjust in a very little [thing] is dishonest and unjust also in much.

Luke 16:10 (King James Version)

16:10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.

V. THESIS:

Praise, worship and thank You very much LORD JESUS for Your faithfulness in me accomplishes great things because You are the One doing Your will for me and on my behalf. You are Faithful in me.

1 Thessalonians 5:24 (New King James Version)

5:24 He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.

VI. TITLE:

Faithful in the least

VII. EXPLICATION:

A. Author: Dr. Luke, The Beloved Physician (close friend and traveling companion of Paul)

B. Audience: Theophilus (Greek means friend of GOD, a Christian)

C. Purpose: To give a connected and orderly narrative of the life of CHRIST as seen by eyewitnesses

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. Faithful in the least - also faithful in much

"He who is faithful in a very little [thing] is faithful also in much,"

Faithful or "pistos" in Greek which means: trustworthy, trustful, sure, true.

The word used here is close to the Greek word of "faith" or "pistis", meaning if you're an unbeliever you are not faithful.

Luke 16:11-12 (Amplified Bible)

16:11 Therefore if you have not been faithful in the [case of] unrighteous mammon (deceitful riches, money, possessions), who will entrust to you the true riches?

16:12 And if you have not proved faithful in that which belongs to another [whether God or man], who will give you that which is your own [that is, the true riches]?

Faithfulness in tithes and offering.

Malachi 3:10 (Amplified Bible)

3:10 Bring all the tithes (the whole tenth of your income) into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and prove Me now by it, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Illustration: I knew a so-called CHRISTian employer who hired unbelievers and gave priority to unbelievers over believers but he never brought them to church. Unbelievers are unfaithful and not trustworthy. I thought at first that is his strategy to win souls but it's not. Later, I knew that this so-called CHRISTian employer is doing things that even a believer will not do in his business audit. He can command his unbelieving accountant to do "magic" on his books, since this is unbeliever accountant he does it without questions.

Least or "elachistos" in Greek which means:

1. least in size, amount, dignity

2. very little, smallest

We don't have money in heaven, because it's not needed there. Riches or money are only needed here on earth to purchase corruptible things, things that will never last to eternity. If you're not true in handling these temporary money/earthly money then you will never be faithful in the heaven where money is not needed.

Much or "polus polos" in Greek which means:

1. many, largely, often, mostly, largely

2. great, plentous.

Luke 19:17 (Amplified Bible)

19:17 And he said to him, Well done, excellent bond servant! Because you have been faithful and trustworthy in a very little [thing], you shall have authority over ten cities.

Matthew 25:21 (Amplified Bible)

25:21 His master said to him, Well done, you upright (honorable, admirable) and faithful servant! You have been faithful and trustworthy over a little; I will put you in charge of much. Enter into and share the joy (the delight, the blessedness) which your master enjoys.

Hebrews 3:2 (Amplified Bible)

3:2 [See how] faithful He was to Him Who appointed Him [Apostle and High Priest], as Moses was also faithful in the whole house [of God].

Faithfulness has it's rewards, that's why we don't use our own faithfulness in serving GOD because we know it will fail miserably, but we rely and depend on GOD's Faithfulness to us/in us and we use that same Faithfulness to serve GOD.

1 Thessalonians 5:24 (Amplified Bible)

5:24 Faithful is He Who is calling you [to Himself] and utterly trustworthy, and He will also do it [fulfill His call by hallowing and keeping you].

2 Timothy 2:13 (Amplified Bible)

2:13 If we are faithless [do not believe and are untrue to Him], He remains true (faithful to His Word and His righteous character), for He cannot deny Himself.

The more you confess and declare that you are faithful, the more you are tested and of course you fail the test. But the more you declare and confess GOD's Faithfulness over your lives, the more you are blessed with more Faithfulness. We can also put it this way, if you're faithful or true to physical things then you are also faithful and true to spiritual things.

B. Dishonest in the least - also dishonest in much

"and he who is dishonest and unjust in a very little [thing] is dishonest and unjust also in much"

Unjust, dishonest or "adikos" in Greek which means:

1. wicked, treacherous

2. heathen, unjust, unrighteous

With this word "adikos" we are now given a direct meaning of this faithfulness or unfaithfulness. Unjust or being unfaithful applies to unbelievers and faithfulness/just applies only to believers. What about believers that are still not attending church on time? Their faith is questionable to me. One of their foot is in worldly (earthly) things and the other is on heavenly things. These are what we call double-minded CHRISTian believers or lukewarm (not hot, not cold) believers.

Learn from the example of Judas Iscariot:

Judas Iscariot - an apostle yet also called a thief (double-minded). He says things that will impress people yet angers GOD. He is men-pleaser and eye-pleasers.

John 12:6 (Amplified Bible)

12:6 Now he did not say this because he cared for the poor but because he was a thief; and having the bag (the money box, the purse of the Twelve), he took for himself what was put into it [pilfering the collections].

John 13:2 (Amplified Bible)

13:2 So [it was] during supper, Satan having already put the thought of betraying Jesus in the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son,

John 13:27 (Amplified Bible)

13:27 Then after [he had taken] the bit of food, Satan entered into and took possession of [Judas]. Jesus said to him, What you are going to do, do more swiftly than you seem to intend and make quick work of it.

These are what exactly what we don't need as believers. Act differently from Judas Iscariot.

Ephesians 6:6 (Amplified Bible)

6:6 Not in the way of eye-service [as if they were watching you] and only to please men, but as servants (slaves) of Christ, doing the will of God heartily and with your whole soul;

Colossians 3:22 (Amplified Bible)

3:22 Servants, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not only when their eyes are on you as pleasers of men, but in simplicity of purpose [with all your heart] because of your reverence for the Lord and as a sincere expression of your devotion to Him.

Colossians 3:22 (King James Version)

3:22 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:

Avoid the following:

1. eyeservice - pleases men that watches you

2. menpleasers - pleasers of men but not of GOD

3. lip service - We say things that will make us beautiful and handsome in men's eyes but our hearts are filled with murder

Illustration:

TO TELL A LIE

In Boston a minister noticed a group of boys standing around a small stray dog. "What are you doing, boys?"

"Telling lies," said one of the boys. "The one who tells the biggest lie gets the dog."

"Why, when I was your age," the shocked minister said, "I never ever thought of telling a lie."

The boys looked at one another, a little crestfallen. Finally one of them shrugged and said, "I guess he wins the dog."
