Summary: Can you imagine Mary and Joseph's prayer the night they had to tell God they lost Jesus? How could you lose what is important to you? Might be easier than you think?

I LOST JESUS?

RUNNING? RUNNING GREAT? I LOST THE MESSAGE?

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

we can get so busy in stuff, we lose sight of the goal?

I. AHIMAAZ HAS A GREAT DESIRE!

LET ME RUN! PLEASE LET ME RUN! I AM A BETTER RUNNER THAN CUSHI!

I KNOW MORE ABOUT THE ROADS... !

A. I once heard the story of BILLY GRAHAM flying overseas to do a revival.

He was on a commercial flight. The steward est came to Billy and whispered in his ear,

THE PILOT WOULD LIKE TO SPEAK WITH YOU.

Billy walked to the cabin and was introduced to the pilot and co-pilot.

Billy could tell there was something wrong and the pilot said: "WE HAVE GOOD NEWS

AND BAD NEWS. WHICH WOULD YOU LIKE TO HEAR FIRST?

Billy said the good news. The pilot said we are cruising at about 670 mph.

But the bad news is we have no idea as to where we are? Something has gone terribly wrong

all our navigation systems and communication systems have failed. We will not know where

we are until we have visual sight over land. They ask Billy to pray that God would have mercy

and help them. Billy was praying when sometime later the pilot made visual contact with land

and they identified the area and made a safe landing.

B. DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING?

DO YOU NKNOW YOUR PURPOSE? GOD'S PLAN?

C. What is your MOTIVATION?

Fear, money, peer pressure, time, purpose, --- HOW ABOUT LOVE?

D. WE ARE TRAVELING ON A SPIRITUAL JOURNEY.

DO WE THINK RUNNING IS EVERYTHING?

E. I want to RUN --- WHY RUN?

What is my motivate in RUNNING?

2 Samuel 18:18 Now Absalom in his lifetime had taken and reared up for himself a pillar,

which is in the king's dale: for he said, I have no son to keep my name in remembrance:

and he called the pillar after his own name: and it is called unto this day, Absalom's place.

19 Then said Ahimaaz the son of Zadok, Let me now run, and bear the king tidings, how that

the LORD hath avenged him of his enemies. 20 And Joab said unto him, Thou shalt not bear

tidings this day, but thou shalt bear tidings another day: but this day thou shalt bear no tidings,

because the king's son is dead.

21 Then said Joab to Cushi, Go tell the king what thou hast seen. And Cushi bowed himself

unto Joab, and ran. 22 Then said Ahimaaz the son of Zadok yet again to Joab, But howsoever,

let me, I pray thee, also run after Cushi. And Joab said, Wherefore wilt thou run, my son, seeing

that thou hast no tidings ready? 23 But howsoever, said he, let me run. And he said unto him, Run.

Then Ahimaaz ran by the way of the plain, and overran Cushi. 24 And David sat between the two

gates: and the watchman went up to the roof over the gate unto the wall, and lifted up his eyes,

and looked, and behold a man running alone. 25 And the watchman cried, and told the king. And

the king said, If he be alone, there is tidings in his mouth. And he came apace, and drew near.

F. AHIMAAZ WAS A BETTER RUNNER, HE OUT RAN CUSHI...

BUT AHIMAAZ FORGOT THE MUST IMPORTANT PART WAS NOT RUNNING FAST ---

BUT HTE MESSAGE TO THE KING.

2 Samuel 18:28 And Ahimaaz called, and said unto the king, All is well. And he fell down to the

earth upon his face before the king, and said, Blessed be the LORD thy God, which hath delivered

up the men that lifted up their hand against my lord the king. 29 And the king said, Is the young man

Absalom safe? And Ahimaaz answered, When Joab sent the king's servant, and me thy servant,

I saw a great tumult, but I knew not what it was.

30 And the king said unto him, Turn aside, and stand here. And he turned aside, and stood still.

G. I once heard Bill Hardy say of a person:

"He has two gears: SLOW and SLOWER!"

We tend to value FAST and FASTER...

You can not plow and sow and reap a garden at 70 mph.

DO WE HAVE GOD'S PLAN? DO WE RUN WITH A CLEAR MESSAGE.

II. EVER LOST JESUS? HAVE WE EVER LOST THE COMPANY OF JESUS

Song of Songs 3:1 By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I

found him not.

A. Imagine Mary and Joseph's prayer that night when they realized they lost Jesus.

Dear God, I have good news and bad? Which do you want to hear?

Heavenly Father, Thanks for trusting us with your son.

But GOD! WE DO NOT KNOW HOW WE DID IT === BUT WE HAVE LOST JESUS!

Luke 2:41 Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover.

42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.

43 And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem;

and Joseph and his mother knew not of it.

44 But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought

him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance.

45 And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him.

B. O, that I might know where I lost Jesus?

There is a proverb: LOOK FOR THE THING WHERE YOU LEFT IT. IT IS THERE.

20 MILES FORWARD IS EASIER THAN WALKING ONE MILE BACK?

when you find Jesus CLING TO HIM, hold him dear and precious ---

C. How on earth did they lose JESUS?

1. In religious traditions?

2. Thinking this is someone else's job?

3. ASSUMPTION? He is with you?

4. Mary and Joseph was caught up in being busy?

5. WE DID NOT CLING AS CLOSE TO HIM AS WE SHOULD HAVE...

6. LOSE SIGHT OF THE GOAL

Luke 2:46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst

of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. 47 And all that heard him were astonished

at his understanding and answers. 48 And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said

unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.

49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's

business? 50 And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.

the place, and recover the leper.
